Favorite Manga - wat - Dec. 18, 2010 There seem to be enough anime fans around that I can assume some of you read manga as well! As younger / newer anime fans might not know, your favorite anime series probably (but not necessarily) started out as a manga (comic). So what are some of your favorite manga and why? My favorite is Berserk. It might be a bit too brutal if you're still a kid (i remember some particularly horrifying scenes even in the first few volumes), but if you're at least a teenager, or you otherwise think you can handle the horror aspects, I'd recommend giving it a try. If you don't know, it's a long running (over 20 years!) dark-fantasy adventure, with an exceptional story and artwork. The first few volumes are kind a flash-forward into the manga's later arcs, a pilot, per se; the story truly begins somewhere around volume 3. 35 volumes are published as of now. My second favorite is Battle Angel Alita (as seen in my avatar and signature). This one is another well known and long running action/adventure manga, this one has a sci-fi theme and takes place in the far future. The main character is a super powered cyborg fighter girl named Alita (Gally in the original japanese). Much like Berserk it's very character driven. I really enjoyed the stories and characters of the original 9 volumes, and the character developement of Alita. Incidentally James Cameron (director of Avatar) is interested in doing a hollywood adaptation sometime in the (let's hope) near future. I highly recommend both of these RE: Favorite Manga - Nano - Dec. 18, 2010 Lucky☆Star is a good one to read when you're bored. All ya have to do is open it up to a random page and star reading! Also The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya is a good one (my favorite anime as well). And Chibi Vampire is a good one to read, lots of drama and some comedy. RE: Favorite Manga - Odin - Dec. 19, 2010 Personally, my favorite is Naruto. I don't know why that is, but the art appeals to me greatly (and I mean the character design, not Naruto's original trademark move [Not Shadow clones, for those who are wondering]!). My second favorite is either Bleach or Psyren. I recommend them all to anyone, though. Edit: I also recommend Bakuman by the creators of Death Note. RE: Favorite Manga - Brooklyn-Z - Dec. 19, 2010 i think theirs a topic for this already,eh anyways Death Note,i get called emo/punk/goth everyday that and cause i read Edgar Allen Poe haha <--offtopic RE: Favorite Manga - C a o S³ - Dec. 21, 2010 My favorite is One Piece, i like the eccentric stories. And a guy as Mr.Fantastic..yeah is amazing O: RE: Favorite Manga - Original_BB_4ev - Jan. 21, 2011 A couple of good ones are Hanatsuki Hime (you'll have to look online, I suggest manga fox.) It's pretty cute, but is kinda ...hm... well~ if anyone's interested, just look it up~ Anyway, that and Are You Alice? are my current favorites~! RE: Favorite Manga - fabled red yugi - Jan. 24, 2011 reborn good stories shaman king fun fight scenes RE: Favorite Manga - The Supreme One - Apr. 28, 2013 Skip Beat! hands down. I just love the characters & unique arcs. It's always fun to see how Kyoko acts each character she's given differently than anyone would expect RE: Favorite Manga - Anchor - Apr. 28, 2013 I didn't know this was even a thread, but cool. My favorite manga is One Piece because of it's huge, unique world filled with interesting characters, and it's never ending adventure. It can make you laugh, cry, and smile. The fights are usually very well done, and because of the cool devil fruit abilities, and haki, the fights are always something fresh and can even be funny. I also love Toriko, Parasyte, Blade of The Immortal, Shaman King, and more. RE: Favorite Manga - akio314 - May. 03, 2013 (Dec. 19, 2010 1:34 AM)Odin Wrote: Personally, my favorite is Naruto.
