Why are smart people ridiculed? Every day, smart people are called "nerd", and "geek", and "loser". I just really don't understand the thought process behind that. It's like: Geez, that guy can carry on an intelligible conversation, will contribute to society when he's older and has basic common sense. We should make fun of them!
C'mon. In the old days, smart people were revered. People climbed mountains to get wisdom from smart people. Hell, smart people lived on mountains! That's awesome! I demand the government sanction a mountain as a sanctuary for smart people, where they can live for free in harmony, contributing to the world. Then all the idiots can climb the mountain whenever they need help attaching a photo to a Twitter post or something stupid like that.

And plus, it's a little unfair to revere someone simply for being "intelligent". There are many kinds of intelligence, not just being good at school. Being a hard worker is a much more desirable quality, because being the laziest genius won't get you anywhere. Being a jerk about your "intelligence" won't either.

You're correct in that intelligence is highly complex and not only about 'book smarts', however we revere people for running balls around fields more than we respect 'book smarts' or intelligence in general (yes running balls around fields involves intelligence but it is mainly physical and contributes only minimally to the good of society), so perhaps intelligence deserves a little more respect. As for hard work - I work hard at guitar and songwriting, but the times when I actually come up with good tunes are often when I'm just messing around. However, in my experience, intelligence isn't usually the reason for ridicule (and over here at least, that ridicule stops with high school (grade 12)), it tends to be based more on social skills, in particular how you react to teasing. The most universally well-liked people at my school were also some of the smartest (though many of them were also pretty good to great at sports). There were times when people would get ragged on in class for their intelligence but it was all very good natured - really just a funny way of pointing out how darned smart someone was. Honestly if people are teasing you for being smart then you should just be able to brush it off. I got picked on a lot, and also did really well in school, but once I worked out socialising properly and my confidence improved (mostly a result of learning martial arts), I became much more popular. And, I've had basically no trouble since graduating high school.
But yes, intelligence or at least, contribution to society is still very much respected today. Sure, there's a lot more respect for many less 'useful' things but I get the feeling Catalyst isn't speaking from enough experience at this point.

If you seperate the intellegent from the idiots, next thing you know, the smart people would abandon the stupid and live on a suitible planet.And through it all, some average minded soldier will be stuck trying to convince people that plants dont crave sports drinks (even though they've got electroliytes).

In addition to the concept of smart and stupid, there is no such thing. We all have different minds, and so we all have different abilities. Those 'intelligent' people are most likely those with a brain wired for academic related things, while those 'jocks' are those gifted with a brain designed for sports. I personally look down on others, so I know some reasoning, but seriously, I'm finding my ideas stupid. We should celebrate each and every person's capability, rarely is it because they are dumb. Even the shyest person has something to contribute to society. One of the sporty guys in my class with a huge amount of talent said I wouldn't go anywhere in sports, I just replied that I'll work my way there. Cause like Noodoo said, no point in lazy geniuses. But still, everyone is a genius in one way or another...
If I opened that book I'd be even more detailed, but for now, this is what I can say from the top of my head. I'm one of those haters on the less gifted, but it's starting to change, when your put down for intelligence, who cares? Those people shouldn't affect your life in anyway, they are just haters. Just do what you want, and what is right. I agree with th!nk, it becomes a war of social skills in school. I have pathetic social skills, and I'm the most hated guy in class, and possible the entire senior school. Even with that, I'm at the top for almost every subject and such. Simply said, be who you are, improve whenever you can, and don't put down others. Everyone can contribute to society, and for me, I'm saying this without inputting my religion here. If I did, it'll be a whole larger facet of life.

You do know some people are literally not good at anything right? Like, sure, it's not common by any means but it's inevitable that some people are just not really good at anything (and that's not even considering medical/psychological conditions that would result in such a thing). Not that they necessarily cannot contribute in a meaningful way to society, but not everyone has some special ability and if you could weight everything correctly (which is basically impossible given the sheer number of factors you'd need to consider) some people would come out with a really high score and some people would come out really low, and most people would be around the middle - some people would simply be "better" than others.
As I already stated in my post, some things, including most sports, are really physical and mental ability is only of limited importance - reflexes, fast thinking, being good with spatial estimation, remembering what the coach told you to do - but none of that, no matter how good you are at it, will get you playing the game professionally unless you are physically suitable. And honestly, entertainment, as great and wonderful it is, is really only of limited help to humanity vs medicine, technology, etc. It's a very difficult truth for most people to accept, but I say this as someone who could probably succeed in one of those fields if they applied themselves but wants to be a musician instead. Sure, there are exceptions but the odds of being able to do anywhere near the good of an average physician as a musician? Not good.
... I hate having to be the one to break this sort of news to people, but finding out for yourself can be a pretty horrible thing if you're really unprepared for it, so it's probably the right thing to do.

Anyway, I pretended like I could find out where he lived by looking at his IP address on WBO and that I'd use this info to contact the legal authorities in his area... Instant refund! That's my excitement for the week done.

Trees are on the planet
Some areas have average,some more,some less trees.Trees follow sunlight,so if someone starts putting a solar panel,or solar cells,then uses an inverter to gather energy,then I see plants powering people.

Plants already are a source of power in the sense of biofuel. Solar Panels need much more advancements before they become globally useful, because right now, they are way to inneficient and energy can't be stored. However, if every family had a solar panel array set up with a wind turbine, we could technically cut electricity bills by around 50%, because we're producing our own energy... Very rough estimate though, don't quote me on that.

Trees cover up a lot of space-if not a panel,a connection of solar cells will be sufficient in my honest opinion.
Imagine if we're able to get power to light a street-light using,say 5 trees.
Well for that,and was also thinking about turbines across rivers,which could generate energy,as well as take out all waste as well-complex,but,I have a vision

And yeah I don't know why some people insist on telling others/believing that everyone has their "special talent/ability". I mean, I don't see anything wrong with living a normal life. If you don't have any great talents, does that really make your life less fulfilled? As long as you're content with what you have and you use that to the best of your ability ... you should be fine.
Maybe people do not have talents, but that doesn't mean that they're not important!

@"Bullying the smart kids at school": From observation, the "smart kids" often get bullied because they rub their grades in other people's faces. Humble is always good. And then there are also those times where the "smart kid" doesn't get so good on a test or whatever and then he gets a taste of his own medicine in a higher and more intense dosage XD

Already done in some places. In my opinion, they're not really effective. We have a lot of "Wind Farms" up here. Where its just primarily fields of these things generating power. Um yeah, they're cool and all but the land they're taking up and costs to put them up + maintenance, just doesn't cut it (I think).
