RE: Beyblade Burst Sparking Episode #52 FINAL (March 19, 2021) - Jinbee - Mar. 19, 2021
Welp, this is the finale of Burst Sparking you wanted, right?
Sort of. It is neat how this last episode actually did manage to fit in two pretty cool and action packed battles, and yet the battles felt substantial enough. The second round does end as expected, Shu/Lean wins, but it is nice to see cooperation as Spriggan, with what I assume is part of Lean's flare, was able to push Twin Strike, before Limit Break The End from Lucifer flips the twin beys up, before Spriggan slashes them and bursts them. That is pretty cool.
Third round is definitely where the animation gets more flashy and really nice, and it is pretty nice to see the action so fast and fairly fluent. The beys are trading intense blows and zooming around the stadium with a lot of glows. It is pretty neat. As expected, Shu is the first to lose, by K.O. It leaves Lean vs the Twins of course, and they clash all their glowy powers. Lean's "wall" seems to be breaking, showing his true self. They do a power collide, which causes all three to be sent up the air, Helios bursts first, followed by Lucifer with Hyperion... being... the last one... standing... More shilling for Hyuga I guess... but I guess Hikaru did last the longest last match with Valt/Rantaro. Still, I would've liked if both barely survived instead.
The ending is the usual crowd cheering for the winner, Lean leaves seeming to turn a new leaf. The twins approach Lean and become friends. Valt and Shu are happy, and Shu tosses away his coat. I kinda thought the other legends would be there honestly, it would've been nice to see them one last time despite some returning. This seems a bit like an empty send off.
The Asahi bros and Lean walk away before the Asahi brothers... jump up... and then yells out... "Genkai Toppa"... and freeze frame... well I totally saw that coming... The only thing I got wrong was that it was a back view rather than a top down view. The reason the ending bothers me is because it's yet another one that feels so empty and brief, like a "Okay this series is over, bye.". I'm not expecting a huge party scene, but it would at least be nice to see every legend blader outside, bidding a farewell to the twins, at least. Nope it's just Valt and Shu.
The last episode for Sparking is fairly decent for the battles and seeing Lean being more genuine and nice is good, and the animation is some of the best, better than Episode 48 IMO, but Phi vs Aiga in Ep 50 of Chouzetsu will always be my favourite. However, the ending scenes is a bit too lacking for me, for a series about legends, they sure just forgot about them quickly (yes I know some appear again in Dynamite Battle, but that's not the point). I just don't like how rushed it is, and I hate to say it... but as a Burst ending it feels... paint by numbers.
Bonus review. Beyblade Burst Sparking as a whole.
As expected, Sparking is just not my cup of tea. Quite frankly I think it's the weakest Burst season to date. It feels like it was trying to cram too much into one short season, and a lot of it feels so rushed and halfhearted as a result. While it was a new concept, having twins being the main stars for a short season about returning legendary bladers was a very bad idea, because there's just not enough time, and as a result, everything feels reduced and rushed.
Hikaru was an okay lead, being an analytical blader was cool, and he had some interesting ideas which sadly never felt that well done. Despite the lacking execution overall, I think more main character NEEDS to be analytical and tactical. The average blader isn't just some hothead idiot you know?
Speaking of which, Hyuga, now I've already said a lot about him, but the point is, he is a very flat and samey main protagonist, he's the generic hothead idiot hero at it's most stereotypical. He only got better by the last few episodes, which to me, is far too late.
Lean suffers a similar issue to Hyuga, being a very flat and uninteresting character overall. He seems to want satisfying battles to feed his flare, but his flare concept feels underdeveloped at best. It's just another "glowy aura" of the season as far as I'm concerned. All Lean ever talks about is flare. And much like Hyuga, he only gets better at the tail end, where he shows a bit more to him, which again, is far too late.
The way the legends were treated was iffy. It's not because they have a worse than before win record, since they are all legends and all fight other legends. However, I felt that some got a bit shoved to the side more than I'd like, but I suppose it was nice to see that even characters like Sisco or Rantaro got their moments. Yeah, the Asahi brothers do beat the legends a bit too quickly perhaps, and I feel in Hyuga's case it especially, his "naturally talented" trait doesn't exactly make a compelling hero... I still don't like that the other legends never have a proper final scene, would it have been that difficult?
Quite frankly, with the amount of mostly pointless and boring filler, this series kept wasting the little time it had. Why was the simulation episode necessary, among the other training dedicated episodes that most do almost nothing anyway. Training episodes should at least lead to some character development or have a bit more importance. Once again, wasting... time...
Overall, Sparking is a mess, and is sadly the most disappointing series to date. Gachi did at least have some breathing room so nothing felt too crammed, where as Sparking seemed too ambitious than it was capable of.

Beyblade Burst Sparking - Episode 52 (Review)
As we finally reach our destination to this season, how does this finale hold up? Well... it's actually not bad. There are a lot of things that I do like and am surprised they managed to fit in within a short time.
First off, I do like the battles here. We get to see more of Lean and Shu's teamwork kick in as they seem to be able to adapt to differing strategies, with Shu using a defensive strategy with his "World Spin", and Lean using the offensive "Limit Break The End". Whilst Lean and Shu have used these types of techniques before, it's just feels a lot more in sync than usual to me as if they were able to communicate better as a duo. It also led them to be able to take the Asahi brothers down with ease in the second round.
Also, was I the only one who noticed that "World Spin" has a pink barrier around it? I'll have to refresh my memory if it was always the case, but I've only just noticed it today and it looks a little bit like the pink barrier from "The End Wall" (both use free-spinning components, and no I'm not talking about Curse Satan and Jet Wyvern). It's probably just a coincidence, but I like to think that Shu was able to imitate Lean's defense as a result of them being able to work together.
The last round was also really good, showing that the Asahi brothers are now able to rival the skills of Shu and Lean. I think what really sells the last round is the great animation. The animation in most Sparking battles tend to be great anyway, and this episode is no exception. We get a lot of fluent movements with the characters, the scenes during the metaphorical states which depict their teamwork and burning spirits are really cool, and the flare that Hyuga, Hikaru and Lean possess shine brighter than ever in this battle. The Asahi brothers' teamwork work really well here, being in sync throughout it all and being able to time their special moves at the right time which knocked away Spriggan and eliminated Shu from the battle. This leaves only Hyuga, Hikaru and Lean to duke it out with their final attacks. And after all of that, they only barely managed to win thanks to Hyuga lasting the longest of the three. The battles were overall pretty damn good.
However, if there were some things I had to complain about the battle, it's that I feel like the last round definitely favoured Hyuga over Hikaru. Now don't get me wrong, they both worked together very well and Shu and Lean's losses wouldn't have been entirely possible without Hikaru's assistance. However, I would've liked it if Hikaru and Hyuga lasted the same time as each other, though that's a nitpick. Also, only an Over Finish for Shu in the last round? I mean I guess he bursted in the first round, so whatever.
As for the characters wrapping up, well Hyuga, Hikaru, Lean, Valt and Shu had their last moment of the spotlight in this season. Hyuga and Hikaru were acknowledged as strong bladers by the Legendary Bladers and Lean, with the latter even eventually becoming friends with the two. Whilst Valt and Shu got to have their moment, before Shu tosses away his jacket which symbolises his job to help Lean control his flare is done. It's a nice moment at the end, though I would've liked to have seen the other Legendary Bladers wrap up. I know it's not their season, but there's a likely chance we'll never see some of them again (like Sisco or Wakiya) so it's kind of a shame.
Overall, the finale was not bad. Whilst it is a little too fast and predictable, I can understand why honestly as the short amount of time probably limited what they could do and they did succeed with at least giving as much as they could. It's a good wrap up for Hyuga, Hikaru and Lean as the three with the biggest flares finally united as friends.

As a whole, Sparking was kinda lackluster, but this episode was so good it almost made me forget that.
Also 90% of this episode was animated by a single person.

Aiga is probably the best example of how Sparking treated the legends. What did he do this season? How would the story change if he didn't exist? And he's probably not even going to be in DT. Everyone thought he was the champion but we don't even know if that's the case. They just completely ignored everything about him.

People keep praising this episode, and I’ve gotta ask: Why?
This episode was fine. I mean, the final battles were solid I guess. I’m kind of glad the final battle was at least somewhat close (we all knew Hyuga and Hikaru were gonna win though). It’s just that the ending feels so rushed, and it honestly wasn’t a very good ending. They honestly should have gotten more battles in episode 51 so that they didn’t have to rush the ending here in episode 52. I stand by the fact that Sparking is painfully average, and it overall feels like a bunch of battles, with the only consistencies being Hyuga and Hikaru training and getting stronger. I seriously don’t remember the story beyond that.
So yeah, 5/10 for me overall as a series.
RE: Beyblade Burst Sparking Episode #52 FINAL (March 19, 2021) - Vtryuga - Mar. 19, 2021
The main problem of sparking is that the anime writers were a bit too ambitious. They either needed to have 20 min episodes or cut down on the number of returning characters. Most of the reason why the season is so off putting is the fact that there isnt really a character progression for the main characters; we dont see any real tension and lean is just forced upon us with minimal backstory. The final episode is not bad; in fact it could have very well be called the best final ep of burst till date; but the only thing pulling it back was the lack of payoff which to be brutally honest was missing throughout the entire season.
For a good finale there needs to be a good story that is established during the season which is missing in sparking. There could have been so many interesting themes which could have been explored; for eg instead of having lean as a character we could have a fight between the brothers which could had led them taking different paths; For example in episode 25 after hikaru looses to lui and drum he could undergo a somewhat aiga like transition and the main story point could have been Hyuga trying to reach his brother and make him change his stance on beyblade. We could then have legends such as Aiga( whom hikaru admires) and Shu try and tell hikaru of their experiences with dark resonance and how to get out of it. Free and lui could have been obstacles who were introduced later on in the story during this tag team arc. Drum could have been a normal character along with them competing to beat the legends, with him being introduced in the beginning. Rantaro and Valt need not change their roles. ( i dont see a point of adding Ranjiro to the story at all).
But i digress; whats done is done and we can only lament what could have been and there is no changing the past. I only hope DB doesnt fall into this same problem.

yeah, if people want it to go their way then they can write fanfiction. its as simple as that.
my episode review + Season Review
i think this episode was pretty good. the battles were intense and animated perfectly. so perfectly it almost surpasses GT Ep 49. Lane finally turns good and learns the true meaning of beyblade which kinda sounds like GT's ending but imo done better. the emotion shown in the battles are amazing and say whatever the hell you want about Lane but i think this was his best episode yet and his sendoff was perfect... makes me wonder if he's gonna return in DB at least in a Cameo/flashback, either way im definitely going to miss him and i think he was a cool character despite a few drawbacks. 10/10 as a rating
and now for a review for the season as a whole:
overall the Season was actually not bad, i think its the fact that 12 Min episodes kinda kill the plot and consistency a bit and that might be why a lot of people hate Sparking which is completely fine.
imo while Sparking had its ups and downs i dont believe it deserves all the hate it gets because "lAne Is A tOxiC ChAraCter" or other BS like that. i enjoyed what i got from Sparking and am hyped for what Dynamite Battle has in store.
Season Rating: 9.2/10

That does seem rushed. I don't know what I was expecting to happen at the end of that episode, but I think that was like 70% of what I wanted. And, I agree, surprised all the legends weren't there.

the last episode was cool great animation and the battle was good land finally working well with shu was good to see to bad it took him so long which would've been better to see. ofcourse lane & shu take to second round I got to admit shu & spriggan are tanks taking tag moves like that then burst 2 of them at same time & the other blader who stood out for me was hikaru for these 2 where the meat and potatoes of this tag great shoots of lane. shu plus the bros . lane & hyuga were good don't get me wrong. now those round no surprises they knockout shu smart move you got to take the brains out who's also a tank . I'm not sure I like hyuga being the last focus out of the bros but since hikaru was the last I'm the previous so I guess it's fine. lane finally gets the teaching with shu mission completed likes his mommemt with valt never get tired of them more of this please lol. shu throwing away the jacket to show you that mission accomplish was a nice touch. my only complaint would be why didn't the other legend appears together one last time yea sure some are returning but it's only 4 so far which probably will be only them. so would've been cool to see them all to together i don't maybe a group pic with the bros plus lane as for what I think about the 3 characters I'm going to be brutally honest I didn't care about hyuga he was boring for me hikaru on the other hand is interesting should've been the main but it was a double main they try something different as for lane this might surprise a lot but I actually like him but that's really cause of the manga like phi the over exaggerated them in the anime but hey it Is what it is. the ending with bros jumping in the air good so overall sparking was alright the anime writers was to ambition the tried putting to much in a shorter season instead of simplifying on paper sparkling felt good anime wise but poorly executed I'll give sparking a 7/10 which was the same I give cho z not bad not great but enjoyed it for what it is
