*shrugs* I didn't know what style you were going for. I haven't checked the newer games, either.

Mmk, I'll make a new topic then.

Or I could just move this one ...

RE: Pre-WIP Beyblade Game, Need Ideas! - Pich - Apr. 13, 2009

Go ahead, I haven't done anything yet. And thanks.
I started making a beybalde RPG with gamemaker but it turned out too much for me alone, so Deikalo said we should do a community project and have many members work on it. Skip to page 7 for the more up to date posts.
Anyway, you can claim your job.
Currently we need:
Overworld Spriter
Beyblade Design/Sprites
Mapper/Backgrounds
Coders
Battle engine Coders (the coder can pick the program we make this in, though it was originally in Gamemaker)
Composer/Music
Character Design/Spriting
Cutscene Artist/Programmer

I may be able to do some Spriting, Composing, character design, and minor programming if we GM.
So yeah. If you apply to help out, then you can also have a character in the game if you want (and you can if we feel you are major to the community; Brad, G, Rocky, Anubis; that's you guys).

Updated the first post. Add anything you want to that, Deikalo.

well i can make the character designs but i need someone to make them sprites

RE: WBO vs. Hasbro/Nelvana RPG Community Project- claim your job! - Crimson - Apr. 13, 2009

I'd love to do some sprite work.
A couple years ago, I did a lot of the sprite editing stuff.

RE: WBO vs. Hasbro/Nelvana RPG Community Project- claim your job! - Pich - Apr. 13, 2009

I should be able to do that as long as the style we pick isn't too hard to copy. EDIT: Okay, awesome Crimson. Edited first post.

RE: WBO vs. Hasbro/Nelvana RPG Community Project- claim your job! - Narusuke - Apr. 13, 2009

Your VERY first step should be to find your programmers and pick your engine. There are some decent 2D free engines that support multiplayer, and there are others that arent free but only require a small licensing fee. Some of the free ones are like SDL, and OGRE and then theres always making your own, but that's a lot of work, and then the best licensed one would be Torque which is 150 bucks for the indie developer license. Also if you need references for more engines, programs, and talent you should check out gamedev.net good luck tho Pich.

Ill Volunteer,I can sprite, and my spriting is awesome!

RE: WBO vs. Hasbro/Nelvana RPG Community Project- claim your job! - Pich - Apr. 13, 2009

Thanks, Narusuke. I would like to use GM, but if we get a more talented programmer that happens to use a different program instead, we can switch if they want. Also, I'd rather not do a MMO unless you guys really want to. I have no experience at all in that area.
Finally, BladeBee, what would you like to sprite that is left on the list?

Well,I can do Charectars,But You said You dont need anymore people,So I also sprite the Map,and I can do effects (Like a storm attack for a beyblade)

RE: WBO vs. Hasbro/Nelvana RPG Community Project- claim your job! - Crimson - Apr. 13, 2009

BladeBee, If you're a good spriter, I'd definitely give up my spot to you.
I'm pretty basic with 2D Character sprites, nothing complicated, 16-bit graphics pretty much. if you can do more detailed work, I'm sure you'd be a bigger asset to the project.

I'd still love to do sketches and concept art, I work better with a pen and paper than with pixels.

RE: WBO vs. Hasbro/Nelvana RPG Community Project- claim your job! - Deikailo - Apr. 13, 2009

We need someone to do storyline. That would determine maps and characters needed to Sprite.

I'll do full body character sprites as well as character designs.

Also, I think each volunteer that applies, should give a sample of their work (so we know their skill level) and a description of their character.

Ok, I'll add that to the first post. Didn't think this through as well as I should have. Sorry about that.

RE: WBO vs. Hasbro/Nelvana RPG Community Project- claim your job! - Deikailo - Apr. 13, 2009

Who cares? You wanted ideas, right?

Well, Pich, since it's your game, wanna develop a story?

RE: WBO vs. Hasbro/Nelvana RPG Community Project- claim your job! - Pich - Apr. 13, 2009

I'll go ahead and do that. But I'm always up for any suggestions and ideas from everyone else.

Well, let's get it rollin'! You start off with a base, and we'll add on. So making we should make it an evolving story. You write the story with a partial dialog and then we'll fill/edit stuff in where we feel fit and keep passing the story around.

RE: WBO vs. Hasbro/Nelvana RPG Community Project- claim your job! - Pich - Apr. 13, 2009

Eh, I'll have to start tomorrow. I've got homework tonight and I got to get to bed for school. But, yeah, It shouldn't take me too long to think of something. Then I'll post it.

RE: WBO vs. Hasbro/Nelvana RPG Community Project- claim your job! - Pich - Apr. 14, 2009

That seems good enough for me, you are better than me, that is for sure. (Second opinions?)
Spriters, pm me with what kind of style you feel comfortable spriting in so we can come to an agreement and start something (keep it RPG, though). If we use an original style, we will have alot of work to do. Also, which beyblades should we include in the game? (original ones, plastics, HMS, MFB?)

As for the story:

You (the no-name main character) recently moved into Tokyo. So, your dad decides to give you something special for your birthday, your first beyblade. After battling with some friends, you find out that you are actually pretty good at beyblading. Your dad then tells you of a local tournament being held at a shopping mall and you decide to enter (do we need a reason as to why he does?).

He wins the whole thing, and catches the eye of the guy who was sponsoring the thing, Brad. He tells you his story and decides to take you to meet his friends (also his team; Anubis, Rocky; etc.) and have a friendly beyblade match. Rocky decides to challenge you and you beat her.
They then decide to tell you of a story about a company called Nelvana. Apparently the previous World Champion has gone missing and was last seen with Nelvana employees going to a local tourny. They believe that Nelvana is up to something.

Eventually, you find out that Nelvana is planning on taking over the world and has infiltrated the World Championships with beybladers trained by them (the BladerBreakers). Nelvana wants to get back at the World Beyblade Organization for ridiculing them (why do we not like them again? XD), causing them to loose their license with beyblade (which was the only thing they made any real money off of). They are going to start by winning the World Championships and eliminating any opposition. They then will get revenge. Fortunately, the WBO team has made it to the Championships as well.

You travel around for the tournaments, doing many other things along the way (uncovering the story, doing side quests, and meating other teams). So yeah......Now edit it to hell. Cute

RE: WBO vs. Hasbro/Nelvana RPG Community Project- claim your job! - BladeBee - Apr. 14, 2009

..Im not editing that....its way to awesome.....and plus I can sprite any style,8 Bit,6 bit 2d flat, anything,All I need is a sprite to edit.So Yeah Ill sprite the Charectars if thats ok with you,I say HMS,but I would say second that We Should start off with plastic then later in the game you get HMS then way later You get MFB,like lets say One day for some reason (I dunno yet)Your blades break in battle or something,so then the mechanic of your team (which in my head is called Gen)Tells you to collect some parts to Build the HMS.then Later Your come across some plans to build the MFB,and you build that

RE: WBO vs. Hasbro/Nelvana RPG Community Project- claim your job! - Pich - Apr. 14, 2009

Sounds good. Will you be able to animate them as well? Walking/running animations, expressions, and anything else we may need? You won't need to do it all by yourself, I can help, I'm just curious if you are capable.
