Do you normally sleep in a cold room? RE: Random Thoughts 5 - READ RULES IN FIRST POST - Clonetos - Jul. 06, 2012 am i the only one who sometimes plays a music video in their head? Like i'm listening to a sort of medium paced song and i can imagine something adventurous happen. but the most common thing i think of is kaiju fights mainly the ones i made up and I sorta zone out enjoying the waves of music. Also thinking about taking karate again (tried when i was 10 quit after a month) the reason being is well my father has back problems and I'm the only one in the house capable of lifting heavy things. My mom even said "I am the rock that helps this family" So using that motive and that I want to lose some weight I'm gonna go to the local dojo and beg the sensei to take me back (ok begging seems over the top but still) RE: Random Thoughts 5 - READ RULES IN FIRST POST - DefStamina88 - Jul. 06, 2012 (Jul. 06, 2012 2:31 PM)Clonetos Wrote: am i the only one who sometimes plays a music video in their head? An adventure? Something rock. A sports theme? Something hip-hop or techno-like... RE: Random Thoughts 5 - READ RULES IN FIRST POST - 50uNdW4v3 - Jul. 06, 2012 Well, I got in a vehicle collision yesterday... I can't exactly explain how everything happened exactly, but an ambulance was driving through a red light, keeping the siren off (probably because those sirens are supposed to do something to people with certain medical conditions, I hear?). So it comes incredibly close to our car while we are moving up through the other intersection. We stop and try to brake. No dice. The vehicles collide, and both vehicles' have one front side mashed in, both taking a slight but nasty kickback. Luckily, nobody was seriously injured or killed. Everyone in the car I was in were shook up, and maybe slightly bruised at the most. Some guy in the passenger seat of the ambulance, who was apparently asleep, hurt his wrist slightly. Luckily I don't think he broke anything, because he walked out of the vehicle with ease and looked okay. Damn, and we were only trying to get to the Rec Center's pool. :\ I'm just glad nobody got hurt. RE: Random Thoughts 5 - READ RULES IN FIRST POST - Kai-V - Jul. 06, 2012 The ambulance should definitely have used its siren a few metres before reaching the intersection. Since it is technically their fault, I hope you are getting reimbursed. RE: Random Thoughts 5 - READ RULES IN FIRST POST - 50uNdW4v3 - Jul. 06, 2012 Our insurance is mostly covering it. But we will probably be stuck from going anywhere for a week or something. Even if the physical injuries were quite minor, I believe the emotional ones were more severe (correct me if I'm wrong). This could have been a more dangerous collision and it could have ended quite worse. But I am glad that it did not. Depressing Thoughts (Click to View) RE: Random Thoughts 5 - READ RULES IN FIRST POST - Tech - Jul. 06, 2012 Insomniac, if you really think about it, YOLO is actually what you just explained. People misuse YOLO by saying things like "I got caught by the cops, YOLO." or "I just ate a lizard on accident because someone put it in my sandwich, YOLO." YOLO means "You only live once", and you should live it to the fullest. People misinterpret it as "I'm gonna do all the most dangerous and stupid things because YOLO.", but they don't understand that YOLO doesn't mean waste your life, it means make it meaningful. RE: Random Thoughts 5 - READ RULES IN FIRST POST - sarabscientist - Jul. 06, 2012 Thats what I was trying to say, thank you Tech for elaborating. I should rephrase that as "the over use of the the term "YOLO" by teenagers and other people who think living "once" automatically entitles you to preform the most retarded things ever. Very much of an "ugh, not this again..."-esque feeling, to be candid about it. The actual ability to maintain an appreciation for life, though, is kind of overestimated as a possibility. Eventually, it will slip into your unawareness again, and generally I find that life is more easily lived in that state, rather than constantly reminding myself - on top of the universe's ever-insistent reminders - that things can take a left at the next sphincter at any given moment. Life isn't a snowglobe. Your whole world doesn't need to be shaken to get your perspective right, let alone shaken by your own conscious mind. It can apply to almost everything in a way, too, I believe. That must have been, wow. The first occasion I have no memory of, as I was very young. The second occasion was nothing fantastic, either. The first time, I was dead for three minutes. The second, which occurred several years later, was right around six minutes. Defibrilation is not comfortable, in case television has ever made any misgivings about it. Although, on one of the occasions, my post-incidental pain was severe enough for a while that I would not have been unhappy with the thought of respite. RE: Random Thoughts 5 - READ RULES IN FIRST POST - sarabscientist - Jul. 06, 2012 You've had quite a rough life ... Most people would consider it a miracle to be back alive after six minutes. Damn, that must've put your loved ones in a lot of emotional turmoil during that six minutes. I know you weren't looking for sympathy but it kinda makes me look like a jerk for embarking on the conquest to troll you. RE: Random Thoughts 5 - READ RULES IN FIRST POST - Hazel - Jul. 06, 2012 We live the lives we live. I'm sure my mother was rather unhappy with the situation at the time, yes, but things turned out fine. It was really one of the less frightening experiences for me, at least, as I was not around to be bothered by it. RE: Random Thoughts 5 - READ RULES IN FIRST POST - TakasuMouce - Jul. 07, 2012 How do I tell my grandma that computer use and watching Tv does not cause nearsightness? Because she is Chinese, I have translated several webpages, but she doesn't get it. How should I explain? RE: Random Thoughts 5 - READ RULES IN FIRST POST - Tech - Jul. 07, 2012 Researching some facts and getting other sources to verify should work. RE: Random Thoughts 5 - READ RULES IN FIRST POST - sarabscientist - Jul. 07, 2012 My mother is a control freak, and she decided on the spur of the moment that we were going north to visit relatives. Later that day, she decided we were NOT going north; we were going south to a beach resort. Still later that day, she got offended at some trivial thing and decided that we weren't going anywhere at all. The very next day, she decided that we were going north, after all. So, we packed everything up. Before we knew it, we were on the road. The first part of the trip was fairly easy. As in, I was half-asleep, hoping that we'd arrive while I slept. Then, in an inspired move, my brother talked my mother into letting him sit up front. That meant that my mother would be in the back, with me and my younger, eviler sister. Immediately, my mother started complaining. It was uncomfortable in the back, it was too hot, it was too cold. Then, she accidently woke our three yappy dogs up, and they realized that they were in a car. That meant only one course of action for them. They started shaking and barked their little heads off. This annoyed my mother further, until she asked, no, demanded that my father turn the car around so that we could go home. Unfortunately, we had already driven 337 miles toward our destination. After much argument, my father was going to turn around, until he realized that my mother was going to drop the dogs and me off, and then turn around and continue north. This seemed slightly unpractical, so we ended up not taking that 337 mile detour. We eventually reached our destination after 16 hours of virtually non-stop driving. We got there, we ate. We slept. My mother visited relatives. And so the week went by. I got to go to a huge library, and see Terminator 3 at the local theater. That was the high point of the entire trip. The last day, we were deciding where to eat. My mom said that she didn't care. So my dad picked a steak place. My mother tried to order a mushroom-Swiss burger...only to discover that the place had no Swiss-cheese. So she decided on a salad, only to discover that they didn't have her favorite salad dressing. After much deliberation, she decided that she wouldn't eat. After complaining how hungry she was, and about the poor quality of the restaurant, she walked out of the restaurant, instructing the rest of us to "enjoy our meals". And I wonder where my little sister gets her annoyingness. Not that my mother is annoying...just set in her ways. The whole meal thing was about the only interesting thing to happen during the week. On the way home, we had gotten approximately 4 hours into the trip when my mother predictably decided that we had to go back and eat at the 50th anniversary of her favorite ice cream place. Needless to say, we ignored her. Oh, and when my sister had to go to the bathroom very badly during a traffic jam, my mother had the good taste to making hissing/water noises to make my sister's problem worse. She claimed that my little sister always did it to her, and she was getting pay-back. Between her bickering with my sister, and obsessively playing neopets games, I don't know what to do with her. Anyway...that was my family vacation rant. It sucked. No surprise. At least it's over. Sorry if I complained a lot RE: Random Thoughts 5 - READ RULES IN FIRST POST - TakasuMouce - Jul. 07, 2012 (Jul. 07, 2012 1:41 AM)Tech Wrote: Researching some facts and getting other sources to verify should work.
