First of all, crunchy roll sucks. Second of all, it’s not a cover site, it’s open sourced. So everyone gets their videos from whoever open sourcing them, this time alot of them happens to be from 9anime so there’s some small watermarks.

Crunchyroll is just an example you could use any other site really. "Small watermarks" doesn't cover breaking the law.

9anime, kickassanime, animesuge are all illegal because...

1. Those sites don't have permission to host the content.
2. They just download from torrent sites, and upload the episodes without asking the fansubbers permission. Some groups don't like their stuff posted on other sites.
3. The biggest reason why it is illegal is because sites like 9anime make money off all the their views from ads, spyware/adware, bitcoin miners, etc. They are ripping off the creators of all the anime being uploaded because 9anime is making money off of it. So illegal.

On the fansubbers end, we may not really have permission to upload the episodes, but at least we are doing all this for free and not making money off the creators. Those illegal streaming sites ARE making money off of it.
