RE: Beyblade Burst Super Z Episode #16 (July 16, 2018) - Jinbee - Jul. 16, 2018
I watched today's episode, and this happened (Totally not clickbait):
The episode was solid, I liked it. The first noteworthy thing is the update in the opening and ending of Super Z. I'm going to say right now that I LOVE the new clips, in fact I'm IN love with them, they look amazing! I love the use of rich colours and the monochrome, it's all a visual treat and it just looks really intense. Some of my favourite moments were Laban jumping towards the screen or the creepy feel of the dog masked guy with his floppy hand and how his face isn't revealed yet giving it some mystery. The Phi parts were nice and colourful and look great and the collision between Xcalibur and Achilles looks great. It's worth mentioning that near the end of the OP shows the dark recolour of Revive Phoenix, so maybe Phi gets it later on?
The episode itself takes place on a pretty fancy cruise which looks quite nice, the stadium setting is rather similar but has some differences in the light patterns, as well as that robot mascot as an announcer which I don't really see the point of, weirder when it's on the OP too. The stadiums are different, with the ones in this episode having several roads going around some of the edges of the stadium which looks interesting but with how the battle played, it really isn't that different, in fact it could as well have been in a regular arena and still be the same.
The battles are pretty cool, Ranjiro and Houi were fighting for the spot in the middle until rP jumped in and collided against the other two, grinding their stamina down and caused all three to burst, but knowing the show, it was just to show the power of the revive gimmick. So yeah Phi essentially one shots two bladers at once. With the battle of Aiga vs Suoh vs Laban, Aiga and Suoh fight against each other for a bit until Laban interrupts and uses the bite gimmick to latch and swing both his opponents causing them to crash which is awesome but I always thought he'd clutch onto a beyblade to unlock it. So yeah, Laban won which I didn't expect, and it's so odd to see Suoh lose so badly after seeing him being an initial threat but hey the match was fun.
It all ends with Valt leaving the ship. I should mention that Chris did appear on this episode and so did the cook from BC Sol, but to be honest their appearance in this episode really didn't leave much impact on me.
