Xcustoms - Nuno - Jun. 19, 2010
Hello everyone.
As some of you might know, I am developing my own spinning top game and now I'm ready to start talking about it.
-Thread Updated whenever I feel like making surprise updates;
- English isn't my native language se feel free to correct my mistakes;
-Please do not steal my ideas!
-EVERYTHING IN THIS THREAD IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE.
Q: So, how is it called?
A: I'm still not fully decided about it's name. However I'm thinking about naming it "XCustoms" (this may be subject to change)
Q: XCustoms? That sounds kind of lame... Why is it named like that?
A: This spinning top game is mainly about customization to a whole new level. It's name kind of has the meaning of "infinite customizations".
Q:What do you mean by "infinite customizations"?
A: One of the series will allow players to make their own parts from pre-made parts, under some rules of course.
Q: Nice. So how is the game played?
A: It's similar to other spinning top games. But there is a point system. This point system rewards players according to their performance during a battle or round. (I will explain this later on)
So these are some of the questions I am expecting. I will answer any questions you have, unless it's something secret I can't explain right now.

The Xcustom featured in this image is Heat Salamander W BH S (Wide) (Bearing High) (Sharp)
From left to right:
Lock Ring – The Lock Ring is the part that stays on top of the XCustom. It locks the other parts together.
Main Ring – The Main Ring is the second metal part that comes in contact with the Core. It has protrusions that help towards knocking out other X’s or decreasing their spin velocity. Main rings can be turned upside down, so this way each Main Ring has two modes.
Sub Ring – The Sub Ring is the first metal part that comes in contact with the Core. It adds more weight to the XCustom.
Core – The Core is the central part that holds the other parts. Cores can have different heights and gimmicks.
Tip – The Tip is the part that fits inside the core and comes in contact with the Battlefield’s floor. Tips have various shapes and sizes which contribute to different movement patterns and performances.

Weight: 34 grams
Attributes:
Lock Ring: Resistance, Durability.
Main Ring: Aggression.
Sub Ring: Aggression, Resistance and Durability.
Core: Durability.
Tip: Resistance, Durability.
Type (all the parts together): Durability, Mix (this means the dominant attribute is Durabilty, but other attributes are also present.)
There are 4 different types of Xcustoms:
1- Aggression – The X’s of this type can do powerful hits. They are meant to knock out the opponent.
2- Resistance – The X’s of this type can take heavy hits while maintaining their ground. They are hard to knock out.
3- Durability – The X’s of this type can spin for a large period of time while taking hits. However heavy hits will knock them out.
4 – Mix – The X’s of this type are combination of two or more types.
Each battle has 5 rounds. In these rounds, players are awarded a certain amount of points for their performance. The player with the most points at the end of the battle wins.
Preparing for a ranked (official) battle:
For a ranked battle you will need an Xcustom, a launcher and 1 spare part of your choice.(Once your Xcustom and spare part are registered for a battle you cannot change them)
If you're playing a battle in the "custom parts" competition, your Xcustom will need to be inspected by the judge/judges to see if it's within the rules.
Players are allowed to swap 1 part for their spare part in round 5.
In case of a break, players are allowed to change their part for the spare part or to another equal part if their spare is not the right kind of part. If they can't find any, they will be disqualified.
Example: If one is using Rain Shark W LL F, their spare is a RF (Rubber Flat) and if Shark breaks, they will need to replace it with another Shark Lock Ring.
Players need to launch when they hear the word "go" in "3, 2 , 1, go!" or the fourth "beep" when there is an automated countdown.
Part Creation Rules:
-All parts need to be made from certified pre-made parts (customization series only);
-No sharp edges;
-Main rings need to have at least two protrusions.
-Main rings cannot be fully circular.
*More rules coming soon*
Point award system:
Outspins:
1 point – Outspin inside the battlefield’s primary area
1 point – Outspin outside the battlefield
2 points – Outspin inside the battlefield’s secondary area
Knock outs:
1 point – Knock out from primary area to secondary area
1 point – Knock out from secondary area to primary area
2 points – Knock out from the battlefield.
3 points – Knock out from secondary area
Draws:
1 point for each player when their Xcustoms stop spinning at the same time
2 points for each player when a mutual knock out occurs
-Slash: A technique that allows the Xcustom to move in a flower pattern. (NOTE: this is totally different from sliding shoot!)
Slash's test of effectiveness:
Battle 1 (Normal Launch, Salamander launched first, both in right spin, Xlauncher with Xgrip, in Small Octagon Battlefield.)
Rain Shark W LL F 0-0-2-0-0 = 2 points (All by knockouts)
Heat Salamander W BH S 1-1-1-1-1 = 5 points (All by outspin)

Reminds me of that video with the Brazilian kids using ghetto home made beyblades and launchers made out of CD's.

Is the tip from the photo a stainless steel ball-bearing?

The tip itself is a sharp piece of plastic in a shaft. The ball-bearing is part of this core's gimmick, which is the "free spinning" core gimmick.

Yes it does. The player can easily launch in both directions and all X's have the ability to spin in both directions.
UPDATE:
The Xcustom featured in this image is Heat Salamander W BH S (Wide) (Bearing High) (Sharp)

Seems very nice and well thought out
seems like beyblade HWS though, but there is differences.
Could you make two of them and post a video? Use a bey stadium or something.
Nice Work!

Nice Work!
I already have two finished ones and a third one in progress. AND I already have a Battlefiled (it's like a beystadium but a little different) ready for battles, although it's not 100% finished.
I'll make a video once I finish everything up (everything in progress that is)

How do you go about launching it?
RE: My spinning top game **UPDATED WEEKLY!** - Nuno - Jun. 19, 2010
(Jun. 19, 2010 9:09 PM)Galaxxy Wrote: How do you go about launching it?
The Xcustom is launched with a mechanism of magnets. The launcher itself however is in an early prototype made just for testing and is very similar to a beyblade launcher. Once I get everything clear I will do the final version of the launcher.
