Chapter 20: Houston, We Have A Problem.
Roan and Colin were running while looking behind them every few seconds to make sure no one was following them. Once they reached a shopping center, they found a shoe store so Roan could get some shoes, as he had none at the time, and his were falling apart, literally.
They had holes on the side, due to Roan playing basketball and the fact that the shoe was mostly fabric, the inside supports were showing and cutting his foot, and the bottom of the shoe was completely worn out.
Roan walked up to someone who worked there and asked the employee if they had any leather shoes, the employee said yes and pointed towards the leather shoes for kids.
Roan walked over to the shoes and discovered that his shoe size was seven and a half, so he had to get an eight. Roan walked across the shoe section to the men’s side and saw Colin in awe, looking at a pair of Adidas that were only fifty dollars.
Roan asked for a size eight and tried them on. He liked them. Roan and Colin walked up to the register, purchased them, and walked out.
“Why’d you make me pay for half of the cost?” Colin asked looking into his near empty wallet.
“Because you’re the reason why I was barefoot.” Roan replied looking into his overflowing wallet.
“Technically, you weren’t barefoot because, you had socks on.” Colin responded.
“Whatever, last one to your house is a rotten egg!” Roan said, sprinting in his new Adidas.
Both of the boys were running, with Roan leading. Roan looked behind him to see how far back Colin was.
Suddenly, Roan ran into something. After opening his eyes and rubbing his arm, he saw a man brushing himself off.
The man was wearing a black suit with gold colored highlights, black shoes with gold colored highlights, and a mask with gold colored highlights and gold colored eyeholes.
“Sorry, sir.” Roan said using some manners his mom had taught him.
The man had a frown on his face. “Sorry doesn’t fix everything.” The man said coldly. The man had noticed Roan’s BeyHolder. “Give me your BEYBLADE, or else.”
Roan didn’t want to give up his partner, nor find out what the ‘or else’ meant. “How ‘bout I battle you. If I win, you leave us alone.”
“Us?” The tall man said. “You mean that boy hiding under that bench? Pathetic bunch you are. But fine, but when I finish, I won’t be needing your BEYBLADE.” The man said with a smile so evil, that it would make Chucky look friendly.
Roan and the man went to the stadium at the park they were at.
“I won’t let you take Revenge away from me!” Roan said, revealing Smash Revenge. The man smirked.
3!…2!…1!…Let It Rip! Revenge hopped around the stadium while the opposing BEYBLADE was doing a flower pattern.
“Go, Revenge! Revenge Smash!” Roan called out.
Revenge was about to land on the opponent.
“Now, Nemesis! Tetrad Counter!” The man said.
Revenge landed on a blade going upwards and didn’t go up much. Then it happened again three more times, progressively knocking Revenge higher, and higher.
“Counter the Counter, with Revenge Counter!” Roan said.
Revenge went diving down quickly, slightly missing Nemesis, which was next to the wall of the stadium. Revenge burst on impact (or because it isn’t a BeyWheel).
“No!” Roan called out before falling on his knees.
“Nemesis! Tetrad Switch!” The man said, which was weird because the battle was over.
Nemesis switched from upper Attack, to Smash Attack.
“End his journey with Tetrad Crush!” The green haired blader said menacingly.
“What was that? The battle is over!” Roan said scared of what he meant.
Nemesis pinned Revenge to the wall. The first smash cracked one fourth of Revenge. Then the other three smashes did the same.
The stadium shined a bright gold so no one could see in the stadium, or the other side of the battle zone.
The light cleared out, there was no sign of the Gold eyed blader, nor Nemesis. Roan looked in the stadium to pick up Revenge. Roan let out a high pitched scream and started to cry.
“No no no no no no, this can’t be happening!” Roan sobbed.
Colin came over and gasped. Revenge was in four parts; the disk, the driver, one half of the layer, and the other. “Roan… I’m so sorry…”
Roan ran home with Revenge in his hand and the parts in his other, locked his door, and cried into his pillow.
