Awesome. Welcome to the WBO!!! I will have to tell my gf that you girls are on here and it might make her more apt to create an account.
Haha this Tourney was great! I had an adventure with scott and lmou through the forest just to surprise everybody (but sadly no one cared) we actually went past high park station on the subway just for the surprise that did not work.(still hate you scott for that). But I got a burst bey for technically $6, met Manicben, and then encountered a wild bey brad! This tourney was much better than normal ones, and hope to see more burst tourneys in the future!
Hi everyone! I'm Stephanie, one of Brad's girl friends who lovingly nicknamed the Kerbeus I was borrowing "Strong Green". I had an amazing time at the tournament, and even though it was only my second day playing Beyblade, I learned a lot of things and had tons of fun! I really appreciate how kind everyone was to me and my friends, even though we were newbies. You were so encouraging during my matches, and were always high fiving me when I did something cool. It was incredible, and I would definitely come out to more events in the future!

Now, to buy all my own stuff and learn about all the different parts in detail...

PS. Beyblade is pretty strenuous...! My legs and arms are actually sore today.
@[Lani], @[Voldie], and @[cadney], make sure you guys sign up on the BeyMap so that you can be notified via PM whenever we're hosting new events in Toronto. Smile

(Aug. 03, 2015  3:30 AM)Wombat Wrote: [ -> ]Alright, now for the boring technical interrogation part, mostly aimed at Kei but anyone can answer: Will Winning Combos be posted? If not, how often was Kerbeus Heavy Defense used? Mitsu said that it was about 80% in his Block but overall? Besides 1234beyblade's Attack combos could Kerbeus Heavy Fusion/Survive beat it consistently? This tournament won't count for points (yet), but when will they start counting/when will Burst tournaments take over MFB as "the norm?" Also, in one of the pictures LMAO is using a MFB Launcher suspension (or idk what it's called) on his Burst String Launcher, would that be allowed (I'm guessing it would be a similar ruling to using a Dragon Winder in a MFB Light Launcher)?

The winning combos will be posted soon.

Kerbeus Heavy Defense is the best Stamina and Defense combo right now, so it was used a lot. Although there is some debate as to whether Survive is better than Defense for Stamina, I and some others have found Defense to be best.

I don't know about Fusion; nobody really used it because while it might be able to win against an Attack type, it's Stamina is worse than Defense or Survive. The offensive upside of Fusion isn't worth it while using Kerbeus, so it makes little sense to use that combo.

Attack can beat Kerbeus Heavy Defense pretty handily, but a lot of it depends on the skill of the user.

Our intention is for the first event in every community to be unranked so that players can get a feel for the series without worrying about their rank for the first event.

The Launcher Rubber? We just decided "whatever" haha. It fits like it does on the MFB BeyLaunchers.

(Aug. 03, 2015  3:30 AM)Wombat Wrote: [ -> ]I hope Ragnaruk starts seeing more use once Oval is released. The Whale Attacker Ragnaruk is still my favorite Burst Beyblade and it would be a shame if it turned out to be useless even as it was released.

Everyone pretty much agrees right now that Ragnaruk is terrible. Spriggan and Valkyrie are better for Attack, and it obviously sucks for Stamina/Defense. You can get lucky wins with it, but I haven't found anything consistent.

(Aug. 03, 2015  4:01 AM)Bey Brad Wrote: [ -> ]I hope this will encourage more unranked events, too. The competition still felt tense, but in a way that encouraged people to experiment with more ambitious strategies.

I'll leave it to the rest of you to opine on the competitive implications, but I'll say that things didn't play out as cleanly cut as test results would make it appear. I think it's really impossible to recreate the unique context of a tournament in a consequence-free testing setting.

Yeah, I do too actually. It might be fun to do unranked events like this intermittently to encourage just that.

Absolutely agree.

Haha, I did. I knew he was going to be there at around 12:30, but I had gone into the shelter and then heard some confused commotion outside as soon as someone first spotted him, so I just decided to confirm who it was. Tongue_out

LOL sorry about that guys. But I blame Mitsu for finding us behind the shelter before we were ready!

I'm putting the finishing touches on the BeyChannel video for this event, so stay tuned!

Man that sucks Unhappy. You missed the best part of the tournament.I won the whole thing and bey Brad was there playing
I cannot stress enough how important positive social interaction is and it was really great to see it being exemplified at this event. I was more interested in getting to know everyone rather than the actual tournament and I was not disappointed. Great group of people and now I know why these events have been able to last all these years.

Erm, as @[Kei] said, I can hook Toronto peeps up if they visit London. Just not all at the same time! Grin

LOL! At first glance, I interpreted this offer differently. Still hoping you can hook me up with some UK girls if I decide to visit aha (Don't worry Ben, I'm only kiddingTongue_out).
The BeyChannel video is up!:

It's nice to get a video up so quickly after the event occurred for once haha.

I absolutely agree. I don't think we could continue for so long if the environment wasn't always generally positive. Looking forward to seeing you at future events! Smile
WHAT ARE THOOOOOOOOOOOOOSE

@[JesseObre]
Good job on the editing Scott, and doing it so fast, I think we all really appreciated it, haha.
The video was really fast. I though the video was gonna be up in a week haha. Great editing and awesome footage. "WHAT ARE THOOOSSEE - JesseObre August 2nd 2015" lol. Can't wait for the next burst event.

Great job, thanks Scott!

It's crazy how much more fun Beyblade Burst looks in this video than in any other I've seen so far. The skill level of the players really brings a lot to the game.

Thanks guys! I'm glad everyone seems to have enjoyed it. Smile The holiday on Monday certainly helped give me the time to do it so quickly.

I really wanted to leave Jesse's appearance to a cameo at the end, but that WHAT ARE THOOOSSEE clip was too funny to leave out haha.

Thank you!

Yeah, you're right about that. There's nothing else really like it on Youtube right now; not much can compare to an actual tournament environment with players who know what they're doing!
That video was so amazing! It makes me feel so nice and warm inside when I watch the video. Not sure if that is just because I was there and I got to expiriance the fun or if the warmth is brought through the video, there was a bit of everything in that video haha.

No, the video was great! I watched it a few times now. Felt very serene in a way that Beyblade usually doesn't. lol
So what were everyone's impression on Burst Finish? Improvement or detractor from the new series? (I have my own thoughts, but I'd rather not taint the discussion right at the beginning!)
Hmm..:

Long stamina battles still happen, but with the chance of bursting, it helps make them less common. Pretty fun.

Seems like Attack is pretty effective, but maybe a little too good? Seems like if it can get a solid/decent hit, mostly a KO. Even small hits are effective. But I feel like it will be balanced (hopefully no attack that is the Libra of burst D: ). I enjoy Burst, adds more tension to the battle.

Just a little note, if Attack is dominating the Meta then thats a good thing. A meta dominated by Attack types is a healthy metagame.

Sucks that Defense types are completely useless right now, hopefully the new releases will change that. Also, my favourite thing about Burst Finishes is that it speeds up tournaments by a lot, we finished a whole tournament with like 17 people in the same time we would finish a Standard tournament with 10 people. I'm slowly getting more tempted to become good in Burst format, haha.

Tournaments are quicker since there is a new, faster way of winning, which is a good thing Wink

I hope Attack gets more variance (hopefully a rubber tip Eee), will be very interesting.

Anyways, back in topic: I enjoy how the ratio of Burst to non Burst battles are. Pretty good for a transition from MFB to Burst. Hopefully it can stay like this Smile
Did the tournament seem quicker to you guys? It seemed offset by the time spent replaying drawn rounds or assembling the Beyblades back together. Maybe I feel like Beyblade tournaments take too long, generally ...

I think Defense has a pretty decent win-rate right now. To call it useless is a bit of a stretch. It's more like the skill level of the Attack-type players in Toronto is way beyond what the game is designed to handle Wink

To me it definitely seemed quicker, compared to the other events at least (especially Standard Format where it's like 4-5 hours of Stamina battles) but we finished pretty quickly this time around which was a positive factor. Haha, maybe, tournaments are way to long in general especially if there's like 20 people.

Eh, I guess you're right, I mostly just want to see a few new Defensive combinations rather than seeing the same Kerbeus Heavy Defense combination literally in every other match. I think 1234beyblade, JesseObre and Kei can take that as a huge compliment hahaha, their launches are crazy with Attack types.
After playing in a Yu-Gi-Oh! YCS event several times years ago with eight rounds of Swiss or more ... no Beyblade tournament ever feels "long" to me anymore hahaha.

Remember, there's only four Beyblades released currently. Of course there won't be an incredible variety of Defense combinations! That said, in spite of that there's still several different Attack and Stamina combinations that are competitive, which is a good sign.

I feel like that comment should mostly be directed towards 1234beyblade haha.
Definitely one of my fav parts of the video is me saying "here it comes" just before Spriggan gets smacked out. haha!

Speaking of which, I posted a tournament report on my blog: http://beybrad.tumblr.com/post/126037526...-the-scene

Pretty sure it was the B-07 red Kerbeus!
