Team DayBreakers (Kei, JesseObre and The Boss) !

Surprisingly, Team GT did not even qualify for the finals, and it was Team Osu! and Team Yeti, both mostly Toronto-based, that were part of the finals. If I remember, Team Osu! technically came in second place, but nothing is awarded for that in the Team format from what I remember. We did Block Round Robin.

My personal record was 1-1, winning 3-0 against Leone19 but also losing 0-3 to someone in Team Osu!, hah. Not bad though. I was part of team "Anything" with DJ Alpha and Cye Kinomiya.

Team format really grew on me after today's tournament. My original plan for a team format was strictly tag teams, so pairs of Bladers, therefore seeing it turn out as teams of three was not as cool in my mind and I found some of the rules so-so, but everything was great in the end. Experiencing it makes all the difference, hah.

We really hope that not many people showed up at 5:00 PM because of Anime North's huge mistake in the program schedule. Apparently Beyblade was in their top three of questions people asked at the front desk, but we were not swarmed at all by a huge crowd of new members ...

Zankye was there too and apparently they are going to do a livestream tomorrow in which they will show footage of today's event, so make sure to watch out for his Sunday livestream on his YouTube channel !
Ya it was great to be in your team and if we ever do a team format in Montreal it would be fun to be in the same team again hah!
@[DJ ALPHA] could be interesting but may be a little predictable for the team formation hah! I have an idea of what team could be hah.
Man, on our way back to Montréal, I think we had a premonition for last year's challenge ...

One of my tires ...

The car ride ended up almost double what it should have taken, hah. Still, nothing at all like what Cye Kinomiya had to endure; I was seriously thinking all the time about whether there was anywhere I could have driven you that would have made your return easier and cheaper, but I could not figure anything out.
I just found this to be a weird coincidence, hah.

Thanks. We were on that bus for 14 hours!

I couldn't think of anything either. I sat in the airport stressed for a while, haha. Thanks though. Thanks to Valentin too for checking up on us.

There was an error in the organizers thread wich said that the captain was cye... The actuall leader of team anything was me hah

Ah sorry! You're right. I remember now. I'll fix that.
So since I'm not a tournament organizer, I have to post here. All of the tournaments were a lot of fun, even the HMS one where I had no idea what I was doing, haha. Basically my trend for the entire weekend was block strong, but finals weak. Maybe I just don't do well under pressure or something.

Overall, it was a pretty fun weekend. I'll admit I was looking forward to the solo event more than the team event but they all ended up being exciting. It's a shame that they'll probably be the last tournaments I attend unless I can get something going in Pennsylvania or Vermont (who knows, if I have spare time during college I might travel down to CT if the community's still around).
Again to try to bring the discussion away from the Organizers' Circle and into the more public forum :

This event was very interesting, honestly. I was not even supposed to play since Kei wanted me to organise the matches and the overall tournament structure, but I could not imagine simply watching and sitting all day through a Limited format event. After my trip to Japan, I have a mentality to try to do the most out of occasions in front of me. Plus, I had brought my Beyblades and had not participated in the Friday tournament. The organisation of the event ended up being totally fine without me constantly onto it, delegating result recording to judges in the Blocks and, as Kei mentioned, there was no trouble at all finding a good judge in the team that was not playing, out of the three in each Block.

I had no team at all though coming into the tournament, so I ended up with fellow Montréal Blader DJ ALPHA and Cye Kinomiya, who also had no team yet. We had no idea for the team name though, so when Kei asked him to come up with anything, Cye Kinomiya said : "Team Anything", hah. Thankfully we can change that name later ... Since I wanted to remain a free agent in case we ever held a team format tournament in Montréal, I declined the suggestion of being the captain of the team, and that was probably Cye Kinomiya's reason as well.

We did super well in our first team matchup. I proposed that we should make me go first in the lineup against the other team's members since I would probably lose, so that would give DJ ALPHA and Cye Kinomiya an idea of whether they absolutely had to win, or how many rounds they had to win at least. Thankfully, in my first battle I gave our team a huge advantage by winning 3-0. It ended up being exactly the opposite for our second and last team matchup though, hah. We all performed horribly against Team Osu!.

I really wish I had seen what had happened in Team GT's Block for them not to advance. Apparently it was mostly bad luck, but I was rather shocked to see them eliminated so easily, with their mean BeyRank of eleven. I have the impression, somehow, that it would have been easier to keep up with what took place in other Blocks if it had not been a team format ... Probably because then you do not have to care about how teammates perform.

Overall, I think the only point to improve for the future is something I already told Kei about : I have no voice myself for shouting, but I found that results were not announced often enough and clearly enough. That made people seem very disinterested, like they probably simply guessed that their team was eliminated because they know how to calculate, but nothing was made official, top threes were not always announced, etc. That made people occupy themselves in other ways, nobody clapped for the winners, there was no real gathering around the main stadium in the finals, etc. I remember much better years in that respect, and that does not require us having sixty participants at all.

There were none planned for Saturday, that is why, hah.
It’s awesome that you record the details of all of your opponents combos in such detail, @[Wombat]. I don’t know of anyone else who does that, which is surprising considering the competitive value such data has. I’ve always wanted to do it, but I often don’t have the time or energy to do so between my own battles, judging, organizing, and shooting photos/video.

That Bakushun Leone 90RSF combo was really interesting. I’m sure it has decent Defense, but do you often also try to use it offensively? Does it work? Libra 230RS was a kind of tough match up though, as I saw while judging it. Though, even in that case, the “ramps” of Bakushin certainly made an impact in the one round you did win.

LMAO and The Sponge always share combos; they’re brothers lol.

I recorded it the battle between you and LMAO, I believe! I know I have a clip where LMAO tells me we should ban RS again.

And maybe you didn’t do so well at Team BeyBattle Revolution, but I can say with certainty that you were a tough opponent that several people were worried about facing throughout the weekend. It’s always tough to play against someone who is confident with and uses Attack so frequently. Fortunately we were able to counter that with Libra 230RS this weekend, but that could have easily backfired if you had chosen to break your pattern of Attack (that said, you were even pretty close on multiple instances to beating Libra 230RS with Attack, which is impressive).

It was great to see another new person–especially someone who is so knowledgable and competitive–join us at AN this year. It was great meeting you and I hope you can make it again next year!

Yeah, fortunately the tournament ended up being far easier to organize than I had anticipated. I thought that judge availability would have been a much larger problem, but it turned out perfectly with one qualified judge available on each team.

I don't have an incredible voice either, but I think I did a good job of gathering everyone and announcing the important information as it was necessary (rules at the start, individual matches, finals announcement for each tournament, and end of tournaments) for the most part. Not sure if you missed any of that. I should have announced the winners on Saturday and Sunday explicitly, though. Not sure why I didn't. Although from my perspective, on Friday anybody who was in the room at the end was watching the final battle (and subsequently saw the result where 1234beyblade excitedly, repeatedly, and loudly announced that he was 1st Place and I said that LMAO was 2nd and JesseObre was 3rd. I just re-watched the video I have from the final battle and there was indeed a gathering around the stadium for that. Not sure if you were hiding beside me for that though, since I don't see you anywhere in the video haha). Same thing for Saturday; there was definitely a gathering around the stadium in the finals for Team BeyBattle Revolution. That said, it certainly would have helped if Arupaeo or Elliot were present!

UMMM WELL EXCUSE ME

Admittedly though, I'm definitely not the best with attack, haha. In our match, Wombat, even if I were to launch lightly, I'd still probably be capable of late-game KO's. I personally love Dark Knight LTAC. They're capable of that and even success against like all attack let alongside against Omega.

Great meeting you man! Definitely try and come back next year! Smile

Just posted all of the design work I did for the AN2015 events this year. Check out the project page on my website!: http://bit.ly/tbrwbo

edit: Forgot to include the side event cards. Just added those in.
Here's a little report as to how my battles went. :)

I had a blast at Anime North, whether it was hanging out with a few of you after the tournaments, watching @[JesseObre] ask for photos with random girls, or taking part in the side events which were crazy fun!

Even though the BeyBattle Stations didn't really work out in the end, would we still be getting our choice of Stone Face Booster? Tongue_out

I think the only person who would be eligible is @[JesseObre] since he actually handed out dozens of flyers haha.
But .. but I was your human billboard. Unhappy

You're right though. If anyone gets it, it's him, lol.
