My favorite book quotes:
Spoiler (Click to View)
“It was frustrating when people loved you and took an interest in you and sometimes worried about you and personally cared what you did with yourself. Lena wished that love were something you could flip on and off. You could turn it on when you felt good about yourself and worthy of it and generous enough to return it. You could clip it off when you needed to hide or self-destruct and had nothing at all to give." - Sisterhood Everlasting
“She'd cried over a broken heart before. She knew what that felt like, and it didn't feel like this. Her heart felt not so much broken as just ... empty. It felt like she was an outline empty in the middle. The outline cried senselessly for the absent middle. The past cried for the present that was nothing.†- Sisterhood Everlasting
“There is a basin in the mind where words float around on thought and thought on sound and sight. Then there is a depth of thought untouched by words, and deeper still a gulf of formless feelings untouched by thought.†- Their Eyes Were Watching God
“Matthew,' she said, 'have you ever loved someone and it became yourself?'
For a moment he did not answer. Taking up the decanter he held it to the light.
'Robin can go anywhere, do anything,' Nora continued, 'because she forgets, and I nowhere because I remember.' She came toward him. 'Matthew,' she said, 'you think I have always been like this. Once I was remorseless, but this is another love — it goes everywhere; there is no place for it to stop — it rots me away.†- Nightwood
“She was nervous about the future; it made her indelicate. She was one of the most unimportantly wicked women of her time --because she could not let her time alone, and yet could never be a part of it. She wanted to be the reason for everything and so was the cause of nothing. She had the fluency of tongue and action meted out by divine providence to those who cannot think for themselves. She was the master of the over-sweet phrase, the over-tight embrace.†- Nightwood
“We're always thinking of eternity as an idea that cannot be understood, something immense. But why must it be? What if, instead of all this, you suddenly find just a little room there, something like a village bath-house, grimy, and spiders in every corner, and that's all eternity is. Sometimes, you know, I can't help feeling that that's what it is.†- Crime and Punishment
“It's gonna hurt, now," said Amy. "anything dead coming back to life hurts.†- Beloved
"Believe me, I'd like to listen, but it doesn't work, because if I'm quiet and serious, everyone thinks I'm putting on a new act and I have to save myself with a joke, and then I'm not even talking about my own family, who assume I must be sick, stuff me with aspirins and setatives, feel my neck and forehead to see if I have a temperature, ask about my bowel movements and berate me for being in a bad mood, until I just can't keep it up anymore, because when everybody starts hovering over me, I get cross, then sad, an finally end up turning my heart inside out, the bad part on the outside and the good part on the inside, and keep trying to find a way to become what I'd like to be and what I could be if . . . if only there were no other people in the world." - The Diary of Anne Frank

These are a couple I've been liking recently:
"You can either feel sorry for yourself or treat what has happened as a gift. Everything is either an opportunity to grow or an obstacle to keep you from growing. You get to choose."
— Wayne Dyer
Also a recent quote/caption on a Humans of New York photo that was well worded (I'm a sucker for quotes that put awkward or hard to grasp concepts/feelings into concise words):
“I’ve tried to invest my time and money into other people’s dreams. I thought that helping others succeed would be an easy way to accomplish something without the pressure of doing it myself. But I’ve been burned. You’d expect people to be grateful if you’ve helped them. But a lot of times they will avoid you. People don’t like to be reminded that they owe their success to anyone. Sometimes they’ll even find reasons to vilify you, if it helps to make the debt invalid.”

This quote was introduced to me by my art teacher in high school.
She wanted to break the habit of everyone thinking that they aren't good enough at making good art just because so-n-so is amazing at it and that 'making good art' is a given talent, when it really isn't.

"Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up."
- Pablo Picasso
Meaning that
"...everybody has the potential of being successful and you can keep it that way by nourishing yourself with knowledge, skills, and information."
- spoken by a person (I couldn't have worded it in any other way )
This applies to everything, not only art.

If someone wants to die,let them die.
It belongs to you and it's your responsibility.
Only you can decide the value of your own life.
No one can live it for you if you don't want to.
That freedom is your privilege, not something to be saved from.
If you throw yourself away instead to take care of your needs,
No one can really stop you, except your own primal will to live.

"I've never seen a president so close to his people." - Ho Chi Minh
Boy-o-Boy, to all who know Ho Chi, this quote has a massive level of both civil and political understanding that I still find to be pretty heart pumping! As we all know of Ho Chi, Hanoi Vietnam was pretty much the prime area of N.V at the time being the best looking and well managed area. This quote points out the qualifications of being a president and close to those of the nation. the easist way to show it off is with a few images. A basic way to understand the people is to live under a similar style as them.
then again he is the only he turned down the spot to live in the palace of hanoi, to live here.
Ever seen stilt houses? pretty much a no live zone in most of S.E.A.
