But not the correct spelling, I assume?

Honestly learning any decent martial art should provide a self confidence boost that'll dissuade a lot of people from messing with you. Anyway, this is a thread for bullying, not martial arts.
In second grade somebody took the money out of my lunchbox and then put it behind the toilet seat in the bathroom... Chocked_2
Still kinda dislike that person...
Very weird form of bullying... Actually I'm not sure if that was bullying haha, she did steal my money though, so I guess it is...

I took up Martial Arts in third grade. Not because of bullying, I have only been bullied once, as far as I can remember, though my sister was mean to me when I was little, don't know if that's considered bullying, though. So anyway I'm a first degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do, which took four years to get, and I'm continuing my "Journey" to second degree Black Belt, which is another four years.

It was kinda strange though, because usually bullies are "dumb" but when I got bullied it was actually someone in "high math".

I think if I got physically bullied then I would just bring in my Tae Kwon Do master, LOL. Or maybe that's why I don't really get bullied, because I'm a Black Belt, in fact, a lot of people in my school know I'm a black Belt, so ya.
I got bullied all throughout last year. The popular kids thought they were all that. I mean the chick who was bullying me got my best friends to turn on me. But I learned that they were just jerks and then one day the girl who was bullying me got in so much trouble. (She framed me and I got In School Suspension. Worst 2 days of my life. Ever.) They found out she framed me and then everyone hated her. I didn't even have to beat her up! XD She bullied me for most of my life, but last year she went too far. I'm just glad it's over. Other than that I haven't been bullied hardcore. My friends just pick on me and stuff XD
I actually think if you swear just a tiny bit, that may help intimidate the bully. Not saying it will work, but if its the first time somebody has bullied you, and somebody is giving you a hard time, think of something smart to say that won't get you into trouble and add a little "pizzazz" to it, if you know what I mean. Tongue_out_wink

In Tae Kwon Do sparring it helps if you "Kiap" really loud in the beginning of the match to intimidate your opponent. That might help in public, but it could also make you look like a wacko. Joyful_2
ahh the old crazy method it may work the first time around but you may also have to keep acting crazy to keep up the act but just standing your ground and staring your bully in the eyes will show them that your not willing to back down
Acting crazy is a great way to look stupid and get bullied more as a result. Standing your ground is a good way to get beaten up (though at that point, when there's already a confrontation, there aren't many ways out without getting beaten up aside from luck).
(Aug. 06, 2012  3:41 AM)Zain Wrote: [ -> ]Who said anything about boxing not being tough? The point I was trying to make is that if you were to pit a wrestler vs a boxer, the wrestler would win because boxing is only good when used in conjunction with another martial art. Boxers don't know how to use their legs and there is no element of grappling or groundwork in the art of boxing, that's why a wrestler can easily take a boxer in a round. Wrestlers are adept at grappling and boxing has no defense against such close quarter fighting. By the way, boxing and wrestling really don't seem similar at all lol
I understand the martial arts are not part of the topic, but let me just say something. Boxers and wrestlers do much different training, and the grappling and what not doesn't prove it. You couldn't just tell a boxer and a wrestler to fight because... well its just way different. I have no bias, truth be said. You should see Mike Tyson when he was in his prime, he could take on 300 LB Heavy Bags like they were nothing. Wrestling is hard too, however I don't know as much about it as I would like to.

1. Learn a martial art (Boxing, Kickboxing, Brazilian Jujitsu, or Jeet Kune do,)

2. If you need anti bully results now you can always outsmart the bully or tell there parents.

3. If you can't do either of these than have a teacher assist you.
@ thi!nk: I'm sorry I don't speak tagalog. And @ ruggedhands: Outsmarting is what I usually do, it's great XD

Tagalog is the national language of the Phillipines. Muay Thai is from Thailand. Are you sure you're training with a reputable Kru? Cos I think it's odd that you've been training in Muay Thai but don't know it's origin and correct spelling.

This isn't targeted at you, but I feel I should say to whoever reading this thread... if you decide to take up a martial art, you have to make sure your teacher is good so that you know what you are doing. Learning bad techniques will end up hurting you. Don't teach yourself from online videos either, you need a qualified instructor to guide you on the application of your martial art to real life situations.

A good instructor will not only teach you the correct form and technique, he/she will also teach you how to use only as much power as is absolutely necessary. If you train in a martial art for a while and end up fighting a bully you can really cause him some serious damage, and when the matter gets taken care of by an authority such as the school board or even the police, it's gonna look bad on you because the file will say that you're a martial arts expert and the kid you beat up was just an average joe.

I would rather not get into my own personal stories from when I was younger, but I will say that to anyone who has been, or is being bullied by someone, it does get better.

I want to stray away from giving to much general advice, but the important part is to stick with the people you know are your friends. If you feel as if you are alone, which I can understand, then talk to someone. (which sounds corny, but meh)

Whatever you do, DO NOT pile your problems together mentally and make yourself feel pathetic, as that is a very dangerous road to go down. Take each problem piece by piece, and use them to make yourself grow.

If you feel as if you get picked on because you are a bit socially awkward, my best advice is to try and not stick out so much. I am not saying to pretend to be someone you are not, but around the time middle school finished up, I was sick and tired of the carp I was being given by people just because I liked, said and did certain things that did not mesh with the norm. Honestly, forgive my language, but that is carp. Anybody should be able to do whatever suits them best. For the time being, you must try and keep the things people find less desirable locked up a bit. For example, if you are an anime fanatic, and you are surrounded by a group of people that strongly dislike anime, and you know that could tease you, don't talk about anime near them. Don't make yourself an easy target for them. wait a little while, and eventually, the jerks that spend all their time hounding you will move on to some other pointless activity, and you can also move on. Overtime, you will meet people that will even accept your likes and dislikes, so long as you don't obsess to much or say things that are out of place - in other words, think about what you say. Now, I am not saying care about what other people think, but I am saying consider how it may affect you if you talk about one thing to much in front of people, and that goes for any topic; it gets annoying. I like stuff that is "weird" but I also have a nice, healthy social life, and have a great circle of friends now, some of which like the same stuff that I like, and in an appropriate setting, we talk about it a lot. As for the outsiders looking in to your world who still try to pass judgement, just ignore them, they aren't worth your time. Again, I am not saying to put your emotions and interests in a closet, but just don't make it easy for people to bully you.

I hope I was some help, and that you can all make sense of it all. Just remember what Is aid in the beginning of this whole thing. While I am not really qualified, if any of you ever want to talk to me about my own experiences, you want me to clarify some things, you want some advice, I will be more than happy to help out Grin
some idiot tried to call me fat then he punched me in my stomach i didnt feel a thing same thing with my friend (who by the way weighs 78 pounds at 11) did didnt feel a thing also best part was is that im about 2 feet taller than him : )

just because they got SWAG and have "abs" dose not mean they can punch

My teacher is Filipino. I'm sorry I don't study the origin of the art. And I didn't say I tried to kill the kid. Just that I threw him. Sorry. I also didn't beat up the kid. We wrestled.
this kid call Elija or some dumb name is picking on me and saying "what you gonna do"

1: it makes me mad

2: it also makes me wanna grab his hair and throw him out the windo by his hair
Don't socially interact with this kid. Don't make it obvious that you are avoiding him. Simply ignore him, and move on. If you foresee a chance for him to bother you in a situation, avoid it as best you can. It isn't worth your time.

Now, I am not saying run away from your problems, but I am saying that if interacting with this kid bothers you, find ways not to interact with him. It is easier said then done, but that is my advice. If you feel trapped by the harassment, and all methods of confronting him (which hardly ever works) and avoidance fail, and you feel as if you don't wan't to involve adults, my advice is to just stay near the people that are your friends, rather than be near people you know will be mean to you. Otherwise, talk to an adult. (but I can understand why so many people hate that last part)
I experienced bullying when I was outside playing at my house, I get to go after dinner. So this guy named Samon kept calling me names like Dumb Head or Stupidity and things like that. It kept on annoying me. Then he started pushing me, which got on my nerves so I just pushed him down and he fell to the road without any cars coming.
I got your pm.

That is rather dangerous. What IF a car was coming, and you just did not see it? Bullying is terrible, but responding in such a way isn't the best idea. Now, if you did it as an act of self defense or retaliation, or as a sign to back off, and had no intent on hurting him, then that is fine, just make sure you are careful.
Ok I get it but i did it as self defense.
Don't one word post. Youll get into some trouble if you do that.
I know I got warned for that.
You didn't really have to post that...

But don't use violence to solve. I actually think that pushing him on the road, cars or no cars you still shouldn't do that. That's a stupid thing to do, the only possible thing he would do is push you back, you push him he pushes you and a fight begins. Just be patient and face the fact that you're getting bullied, tell a parent and let them deal with it.

It is just gonna be what little kids do. I am in 4th grade, I know how to fight. I use karate to solve problems.
martial arts are not to be used to "solve problems" they are for defending your self and the people you care about and avoiding conflicts because you can seriously hurt someone i understand things happen but think wisely before you act
Man I've been bullyied for being a little on the chunky side, pushed into lockers and desks and I've told. Teachers don't care in my opinion. I've told multiple times.
