Full Version: Are All Beyblade Retailers Honest With Their Blind Boosters?

This post is not about Mall of Toys with whom I have had only positive experiences. Beys & Bricks has also been pretty good to me (though hardly as good as I've been to them!).

I have opened nine - NINE - of the Vol. 26 Blind Booster trying to land a black Roar Bahamut Giga Moment-10. I do already have a Roar Bahamut Gg.Mm-10 - the violet one that came in B-190 assembled with parts from other beys - but I am a completionist and want all the colorways, especially those from the DB series. Nearly every site is sold out of the boosters, but I was able to find one that still had them, and I've been ordering three at a time, hoping each time to land the prize.

I just opened the latest shipment of three (which has brought me to 9 opened in total) and once again am left Bahamut-less. Odds were decent enough I wouldn't pull it from those first three, and maybe only slightly in favor of pulling one from the second three, but I really thought this last lot would have it.

In the card-collecting hobby there are those we call "pack searchers" who use subversive means to determine which packs/boosters/boxes have the best stuff inside. They do things like bring digital scales into Target with them and weight the packs, bend the packs to find those with more rigidity (damaging all the other cards in the process), etc. Pack searchers are generally despised among card-collectors.

Now, I hope this is not the case, but I suspect it would be easy for retailers with large inventories of boosters to determine the precise weight of those boosters that contain the prize beys and separate those out from the rest to sell for triple or quadruple the normal price, then also sell the remaining boosters at full price, giving false hope to the buyer that they have a shot at the prize bey. Again, I do hope I'm wrong here.

Again I am super cool with Mall of Toys, and I know for a fact that Beys & Bricks doesn't do this as I pulled the prize Cyclone Ragnaruk from a Vol. 25 booster myself having bought only three boosters. I don't want to say the name of this other retailer, but after this experience I don't think I'll be doing any business with them again. Their prices are higher than everyone else's, anyway, even after coupon codes.

I'm only making this post because as a noob to this hobby, I have to wonder if I'm just discovering this and it's is already well-known among long-time bladers or if my luck is just that bad.

TLGrinR: Has anyone pulled a Roar Bahamut Gg.Mm-10 from a Vol. 26 blind booster purchased from an online retailer other than MoT or B&B?
Who did you buy it from? Some sellers are legitimate and don't do such things but some do. Also the chance of getting the prize bey is 1/8 but sometimes your luck is bad and you don't get it. Once I brought 3 and got the same thing (from Toys R Us)
If seller has different item for confirmed prize bey at triple price, you know what to expect for real "random" pack.

I didn't buy randoms a lot (probably less than 10 times), but always avoided such sellers. On the other hand, I did buy confirmed ones from them often.

For random pack I'm trying to find big store's online shop (with 50k items, or so), where workers have no idea they can take prize beyblades out, and aren't ordered to do it.

Not a lot of experience, I know, just way of thinking.
Got prize once, Fusion Hades from metal series, long ago.

Who wants to get all, usually buys whole set of 8 (or 6 lately).

I don't want to be accusatory just in case it really is just a case of bad luck. It's certainly in the realm of possibility to go 0-for-9 on something with 1-in-6 odds.

I may just do that next time.
check the tape. the only time ive ever noticed it was a random ebay seller for the dynamite valkyrie (where you could get rashad's rare red one) .... it was a really good price and i didn't really care since i'd prefer just the normal blue one, but i could tell there was one layer that very specific thin tape that had been cut with an exacto blade then another piece of tape overlaid. its not normal scotch tape, its very very thin. im assuming a devious seller could figure out what type of tape it is and carefully cut the tape, check the contents, then re-tape. any normal buyer most likely would never notice. it was really hard for me to notice but i used a bit of steam and a razor blade to take the first piece of tape off and low and behold, there was another piece cut along the side corner of the box.

it was annoying that i found them out, but in the end i didn't think it worth my time or energy to persue the matter since i got the valkyrie for a good price.
Just about all retailers open their boxes to check for the rare pulls. It sycks but for the most part it cant be helped. I mean some sites sell specific models only found in blind boosters so it seems to be be the only way to reliably tell which model it is. If youre spending that amount of money you can always purchase a full set of a particular model that way you can guarentee you will get the base set wirhout as many repeats. Others have explained it better but yeah that seems to be the only other than buying whatever youre lokming for on ebay. Im on mercari alot and theres a couple people sellling rhe recolor of world spriggan and jet wyvern chasis. Its kind of a carp shoot lol

I did pull the prize from a Vol 25 booster bought from Beys and Bricks. I picked up three boosters and it was in the third one. I think they're probably alright...
I don’t really get what you’re asking or trying to find here but sometimes you can just get really unlucky lol. There’s 6 beys in a booster with the prize bey being the hardest to get so most of the time with the ideal amount of luck you’d have to get maybe like 7-8 pulls to get the 5 other beys and maybe some extras and finally get the prize. There are other options to just get the prize guaranteed but it’s way more expensive. Like 70$+ more expensive. Looks like this time with 9 pulls you just got really unlucky. Maybe wait for a bit and buy another 3 pulls. That should give you what you need.

I already picked up the RB in the aftermarket (and paid for it by selling the duplicate beys I had pulled), but I was asking to see if it is generally known among bladers (of which I am new) which retailers are more likely to have searched the boosters. As in "Don't buy your boosters from so-and-so, they search them before they sell them." It's no big deal if not, I was just wondering due to my tremendously bad luck.

Again, I know B&B is one of the honest ones as I've gotten the prize from them before after buying only three boosters.

Good article - glad to hear a seller address the issue...
Odd that getting a prize bey is that hard. Most people just get full sets (it's cheaper than buying many packs & not getting what you want.) Unlike pokemon booster packs, I am fine getting all 6 beys.

I'm not saying beys and bricks isn't honest them mall of toys and everwish are the sites I trust. However all of these sites sell the rare pull beys. There is no other way to obtain these other than checking the boxes. If you look on their inventory list they do sell them I'm not saying that they open them and then keep all of the prize Beyblades and rare recolors for individual sale but they do keep a few of them. I mean you can look on their inventory and see. Honest about those blind boosters man you have a 1 in 8 shot and technically probability suggest that if you buy eight boxes you're going to get one of the best Beyblades. And sometimes luck is just like that man you know when you hit the casinos I mean menu you come up good and some hands and other hands he busts kind of just luck of the draw man it sucks but that's gambling for you. I mean you could buy a bunch of boxes men get a Halo death Scyther in one of them or you could spend like eighty or a hundred bucks and just buy it outright. Same way with roar bahamut he's going for what about 80ish give or take if you buy him individually

You're right, but they do also have all the non-prize beys in their inventory. Maybe they open a certain number just to be able to sell the known beys individually. Heck, they might even open a few dozen, or hundred, just to fill that inventory. So long as they leave the remaining stock unsearched I'll be happy.

Honestly I really wouldn't care if they open the boxes and sold the most basic models as long as they sold them in brick-and-mortar stores America id sure as hell be happy. *exasperated sigh* it doesn't hurt to dream right?☹😫
I got mine fine from full set preorders, which has been my standard modus operandi for a while now regarding random boosters. Even then I didn't find the numbers to be unrealistic from Amazon Japan and the preorders there and found them unopened at that time, with no evidence of tampering.

Some others may try to rig it, but those people are not currently known as far as I'm aware.
Know I'm a tad late, but I opened two sealed sets of RBV22 (twelve Boosters) from AmiAmi (a Japanese store) and never got an Infinite Achilles. Even with reduced number of Beys, Roar Bahamut is difficult to obtain.

Also unlike trading card packs, Random Bey Boosters have added cardboard to offset the weight - but also individual parts have weight variances. In other words, Roar Bahamut weighs more than Dranzer V2, but it's entirely possible that the sealed Dranzer V2 will weigh more than a sealed Roar Bahamut.
