People with disposable income make the Plastics and HMS economy just... horrible to look at. The veritable stench of it is enough to make one wretch...

Almost by definition, everyone buying beyblades has disposable income.

It is still a fragile market that should not be brutallized in such a manner, though.

A couple of people going on ridiculous spend tangents tends to noticably raise the average prices for things on YJA.

HMS has risen ridiculously over the last couple of years, far more than mere supply and demand could be responsible for.

You are correct, of course, these things should not be like this, but they will, sadly.

RE: eBay Topic - Ultra - Feb. 25, 2012

I hate rediculous shipping charges. The second link in the few posts above which is an awesome lot the actual lot is currently under $10. But the shipping to the UK is an unbelievable $65! How stupid is that. I could ship something that size to the US for way less than that.

RE: eBay Topic - Poseidon - Feb. 25, 2012

It's a sneaky tactic, Blah did something similar, I think it was $20 BIN $100 standard shipping Tongue_out.

Well... The sales of HMS beys occur on an auction site that pairs suppliers with demanders, so we clearly can't say that the prices aren't a function of supply and demand - they are.

What we are seeing is a rise in demand from MFB players who are discovering HMS (like me -and you kind of, since you skipped the generation), coupled with a decline in supply as there are no more NIB HMS beys being created and the existing stockpiles are being depleted.

There are shill bidders from time to time, but the overall movement in price appears to me to be entirely market driven.

RE: eBay Topic - th!nk - Feb. 26, 2012

The time period I speak of is within the scope of basically identical supply, other than, I guess, Draciel, Driger, and Gaia Dragoon MS, which do still have the NIB supply. I was discussing it with Deikailo, anyway.

Anyway, I was not discussing Y!JA directly, if that is the auction site you refer to, without middleman fees, the prices there are very reasonable anyway. I was referring to, mainly, prices here, though to be relevant, most prices on ebay are simply extortion, generally unknowingly so, but nonetheless.

I guess it is still technically a function of supply and demand, in that suppliers set a price most demanders are willing to pay (though, many are not), but that price is not really accurate to what it should be, based on the supply and the demand for these items.

RE: eBay Topic - Arupaeo - Feb. 26, 2012

I was referring to eBay. If there weren't people willing to pay the price, the sales wouldn't happen...

RE: eBay Topic - th!nk - Feb. 26, 2012

A lot of them don't. There are a lot of beyblades there that have been sitting at high prices for a very, very long time.

RE: eBay Topic - Benjohadi - Feb. 26, 2012

That's right. $1,149 for 4 HMS boosters is ridiculous. I still say those sellers must think that their items are being listed in Hong Kong Dollars... :p

These items are the exception though - not the rule. If you look at completed listings, the vast majority of HMS listings on eBay result in sales.

RE: eBay Topic - th!nk - Feb. 26, 2012

Wow.

People are willing to pay FAR more than what things are worth, which drives up the market for those with less disposable income, I guess.

I know. I had 3 non paying bidders from last week, hopefully I have better luck with this batch.

RE: eBay Topic - 3-Dog - Feb. 27, 2012

LOL that seems like a steal compared to a $150 Draciel MS... Haha! I'm messing snowball21, at least you'll know you'll get some money 5 minutes after the auction ends cos I'm bidding on some of your stuff. Might not win it though!

Well I wish you the best of luck!

With the non paying bidders from last week and some other side deals falling through, I've decided against posting everything else today. Instead I'm posting around 20 auctions and we will see how those go.
