My hunch might be right. If you look very close at the picture, you can see 1 tab inside each claw. Maybe those tabs expand to activate a barrier via Limit Break activation.

I honestly really like the new horizontal designed chip, I really find it more menacing and detailed and as for the layer, I think the visuals are also pretty intense and fit well with its colours. The shape seems to be similar to variant but with more points in a more enclosed space meaning less recoil and a mix between a bumpy yet smooth surface. If said contact points have a good design on its top surface then maybe this could actually be competitive (assuming it’s limit break doesn’t get in the way of course).

I don't know how people haven't noticed this yet but the layer is already in it's limit break form. You can tell because of the disc placement.

Oh yeah, it is. I'm guessing the green and purple blades wont be out normally. I'm guessing the green things are just for attack, and the purple thing will work like a shield, and look sorta like a barrier while spinning.

Good point! Maybe its Limit Break gimmick is a combination of Hyperion Burn's spring-loaded attack and Guardian Kerbeus's Bound defense?
