The Bakuten Shoot Beyblade dub made by Nelvana is so far from the original show, goofy and amateurish, and so many scenes and details were cut from that dub.

Not to mention the fact that aside from cutting scenes they also rearranged them, creating situations that didn't even exist originally. The soundtrack is made up, and same goes with characters names.

Although, if I may ask... what about Metal Fight Beyblade?
I was looking forward to watch it, but couldn't find any subbed Jap version around, only dubbed Eng. Did it get a better treatment? Even though some voices are hideous... *Stares at Ryuuga*

Some voices and name pronunciations are indeed horrible, but the script and music is all the same, at least.

In a con video John Stocker (Bakuten Shoot dub dialogue director) mentioned they would rearrange and extend scenes in Beyblade after cutting to accommodate commercials and edits which unfortunately had to be done by broadcast rules at the time eg: in quite a few vids Stocker mentions characters riding bicycles without headgear (very prevalent in Beyblade, in addition to cutting most scenes showing lack of headgear on bicycles/skateboards had the dub throw in "Wear a helmet" lamp-shading comments on the occasion such scenes were kept).

Because of the many edits the episodes often clocked in at only 16 minutes (or as Stocker puts it "they" just killed it and said how some episodes would have to be sent back for re editing) I think this was why we had "Dizzi" the first two seasons to fill the cut time.

As for the soundtrack usually the dubbing company don't have the rights to the OST, MFB was able to have same music and a closer dub adaption because Nelvana were co-producers (and had one of their own composers work on the OST) whereas they were not for Bakuten Shoot also for Bakuten Shoot Nelvana were still fairly new to the dubbing game whereas more they were more experienced and had more of a say when MFB came about.

I have seen some Bakuten Shoot in Japanese and some of those cut details are rather head scratching tbh. I still love the dub warts and all (it is not a perfect dub true but it wasn't that bad it was a good unique dub can't say there was a dub quite like it before or since as most dubs at the time were repetitive), I just love having to different versions of Bakuten Shoot to watch as differences interest me.

Those are very real problems that they have to deal with, and I imagined are very tied into the reasons why things got changed in the dub.

Rise probably refers to the fact that the silhouette behind Valt in the first picture is obviously not Kaiser Xhakuenji. The producers probably decided not to reveal this character too soon and changed their minds later about including him in the teaser. Rantaro's pompadour is much less pronounced, too. Clearly they were still finalizing some decisions.

I feel like the biggest issue that makes the Burst anime so dull to watch is the sense that the world is not expanding at all. I don't remember MFB well enough to describe it in detail, but I remember from the bit I watched it at least felt like I was learning new things about the world frequently.

In Bakuten Shoot, the world slowly opens up from just playing with friends to a town-scale level conflict, then national, international, and then a final world-fating conflict. Not to say that the stakes need to be this high for the drama to be compelling. And indeed, G-Revolution shows us that, with its most compelling moments revolving around interpersonal conflicts rather than good vs. evil. For most of the endgame, they were just fighting for Beyblade itself. Pretty humble compared to the "let's steal god" thematics of the original series. (I don't mention 2002 because I try to forget.) The drama opens up.

In Burst, we've been mostly hanging around the neighbourhood for the first quarter of the series. We don't learn much new about any of the characters (and the few tidbits of characterization we get aren't very interesting) and they simply don't seem as passionate about the game as any previous Beyblade protagonists.

One of the most interesting parts about how Takao is written in Bakuten Shoot is that his immaturity is recognized and punished. Takao is often childish or makes rash decisions, but the story is clear to point this out. Takao is only rewarded with progress when he matures. I never actually realized how this forms the backbone of both Bakuten Shoot and G-Revolution until just this moment, and is yet another reminder of why a series with such an absurd premise was able to capture the hearts of such a diverse audience.

Takao and Kai were the meat of the story. Rei and max didn't contribute as much as they should have and I feel like rei's character was fleshed out to in season one. I really wished they had expanded on other characters I feel they didn't because the rival teams were essentially alternate versions of the main characters who didn't have the passion, bonds or perseverance that the other teams had.
Essentially the other teams may have been similar to the main characters but they never developed as far or had a flaw that prevented them from working at their 100%

Also, Rei and Max definitely had their own conflicts in G Revolution too.
