Quick thoughts on early Burst (plus GT cause I couldn't stop myself from talking about it)

Season 1: Was pretty good overall. The main characters had their stories told pretty well, albeit a bit bare bones but they would be expanded on in more interesting situations in the future. The problem I had was just the Season 1 curse of introducing a bunch of new Beys, meaning a bunch of new characters, only for them to never be seen again. This made some parts of the season lack impact in my opinion. I still think that the grounded approach, in the beginning, to properly set the foundations for the most prevalent characters was a very smart decision.

God: Most people agree that this is the best-written Burst season, and I agree, but I still feel like elaborating. I think continuity is the reason this works so well. Seeing how the characters progress from Season 1 into new situations makes it very engaging, especially when these characters are actively taking new developments and changing themselves. This is best seen through the consistency of Shu's character arc. His reason for winning was built up through Burst, losing against Lui, and then how everything he worked towards collapsed into this season. The main problem here is that this season also suffers from significant amounts of meaningless characters.

Chozetsu: I do not like this season, I'll be honest. It doesn't help that I've seen a similar concept be executed way better in a good anime as well (B-Daman Crossfight eS). I think the main problem here is that the new pivotal characters lack impact. Phi and Hyde are very cool but ultimately lack any substantial depth. Aiga's story of falling into darkness felt flat because we do not care for Aiga enough at this point in the story, and the impact that Dark Resonance had actively soured his character (plot armor). I feel like the manga works better here because Phi and Hyde are simply rivals Aiga faces on his journey to Valt, rather than promised to be grand villains for him. And he was a naturally talented blader, so Dark Resonance was an extension of his ego, whereas his character wasn't properly defined in the anime for Dark Resonance to be an extension of anything substantial.

GT: The best part of this season has to be the characters. They're all super full of energy, and the way they're developed from the grassroots is reminiscent of Season 1, which makes them feel very well-rounded despite just being introduced. The overall story felt like it balanced everything pretty well, the stances characters took were never unrealistically extreme compared to who they would be later in the story (like Delta, he wasn't a supervillain or anything like that). The climax shows the characters at their best, and brings a lot of depth to them, something that even Season 1 couldn't do. This is best shown through Gwyn, because his character still has so much depth, even though he could've used more screen time.

I could be wrong but didn't you already post something similar to this in the past? Nonetheless, I disagree with a hefty number of things here.

Despite it being controversial, no one can deny hype was at an all-time high during Sparking. Here are my opinions as to why.

Animation: I've said this before but Sparking is the best animated Beyblade series, and I think most people would agree. I feel that the reason was that this was a lot of the team's last hurrah for Beyblade along with it acting as a 5th anniversary for Burst. This is very important to keep in mind because the staff really will make or break an animation team. However, what's also important is the 10-minute episodes. I know everyone hates getting less content each week, but that also means that the team has 50% less work to do overall, (50+ full 20-minute episodes to 25) which makes the season way easier to work on. They can finish things and polish them on time. This is even more important for an annual anime franchise because they never get breaks, so less is more. Because of these reasons, I believe that we as a community should more seriously consider the benefits and detractors of 20-minute episodes, along with going back to 10-minute ones.

Battles & Story: Now, the battles of Sparking were elite, but battles don't make the entire series, story and characters are also important. However, I would wager that the battles were prime examples of good writing. Now look, Sparking is not super in-depth story-wise. It's just every justification the writers can find to get all the fan-favorite characters battling (2 tournaments make up half the season). However, because of these battles, the best aspects of the characters were able to shine, interact with each other, and even develop further. One of the reasons this worked so well was undoubtedly the fact that most of the characters were already established and developed in prior seasons. However, I think the main principle of having the characters interact through battles (so much more than other Burst seasons) stands strong.

Extra: To add onto the whole 10-minute episodes thing, I understand just wanting more anime to enjoy from a fan's perspective, but I don't think it's objectively an issue. After GT the pacing got better, and I think the writers were able to convey a story well within 10 minutes. When watching Sparking and DB I never thought that the episode felt like it was gutted despite it being halved in run time, if that makes sense.

I think these are 2 primary reasons why Sparking was able to capture the attention of so many fans, regardless of whether they were actively enjoying it or not. I hope they go back and consider some of the things Sparking excelled at, cause I would love something as hype as it to happen again.

It feels like X is moving quite slowly, or without as much structure. I think this is one of the reasons theorizing feels so different to me we have a vague end goal (Team Pendragon) with no clear avenue to get there. Burst was a series of tournaments, and by episode 15 we were at the climax of the first one. With MFB we had just established our main antagonist and were now exploring Gingka's origins. In X, we're just battling another team once again. You could say the path is obvious, we're going up the X Tower. But the problem here is that the X Tower's floors feel arbitrary. Entering the tower was cool, but ever since Team Persona casually skipped like 50 floors at once, A more solid sense of progression could not be established. At the very least they could spice up this formula, but even a 2-parter couldn't deliver on that.

I think the best thing to do would be to get Team Persona high enough to a point where the floor climbing system changes. Say they're like, 10 floors away, so the system changes to where they have a tournament, and the winning team heads to the top floor to challenge Team Pendragon. It doesn't have to be as simple as a tournament, just something more concrete.

Even though I don’t hate the show or anything like that tbh things are starting to get really boring and I think part of that is just the way they done Bird but also the plot just not advancing in fact DB was honestly more interesting by this point despite it’s slow pacing but X is just really eh. It also doesn’t help that while I like Kamen & Multi I feel like we aren’t seeing anything really happen with them unfortunately. I just hope things pick up in the second half of the season as things are surely gonna start getting interesting (please)

The main hooks for Multi and Ekusu are gonna be meeting Multi's family and Ekusu rematching Chrome. The problem is we don't know when these things will happen and can't estimate a potential time frame they will take place, because the plot is progressing normally. Rather than going from one plot point to the next, it seems like it's just repeating the same formula of team battles with the promise of eventually having major progression (reaching the top of the tower), which some interesting details sprinkled in.

Him tier: Looks right

Built different tier: I would put Aiga ahead of Bell and Pax since he's stronger

Magnificent tier: I honestly don't know how I feel having Rashad there, he's not weak but I don't see him being in the same tier as Lui and Free... Idk, this one is debatable

Strong tier: Makes sense Lane is first. I would put Drum ahead of Hikaru based on how both performed in QS and Kit & Rantaro ahead of Basara. Pri should also be added here.

Solid tier is solid(maybe bump up Delta or Daigo)

Meh seems about right

Funnily enough I thought about it yesterday. At least a special or something, where all the past and present protagonists meet up and have to do stuff together. They could make some specialised Beys for it too to sell. Don't think it will ever happen though.

Hella filler, lots of animation errors and reused animation. What the manga could get through in one chapter would take 2 episodes with filler content in between.

Yes, but for Beyblade the mediums tend to differentiate from each other, following the same plot but being told in a different order of events and some elements being altered. Same song, different singer, different genre.
