RE: Random Beyblade Anime and Manga Thoughts - Meta madness - Oct. 22, 2015 Usually there are a number of characters who have the similar molds. [Image: latest?cb=20101130182034] It's interesting to see a lot of beys have similar molds completely just recolored, makes them feel all the more grand, then again it kind of destroys the illusion of official made goods...made in china, fakes only... though the only other white mold dragoon(or baby dragoon) was one i seen in V-force that got rekt by flash leopard. RE: Random Beyblade Anime and Manga Thoughts - Siliva - Oct. 22, 2015 Liking all of this Bakuten Shoot love in here. I personally don't mind the dub all that much. But coming from someone who's seen the dub 30 times to Tuesday, it really doesn't match in quality to the Japanese version. There's a lot that gets lost in localization--much of which I'm still learning about myself. Which makes subbing episodes fun. I randomly did 2002 episode 39, 'cause I like it and it was really easy to go through. I'm not the biggest 2002 fan otherwise, but it has a couple of nice parts (mostly in the latter half). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JY4VwNhcK58&feature=youtu.be Note that Ozma's flashbacks to his Saint Shields training was toned down in the dub. That effects of that restraining device he was wearing were pretty much cut altogether. The bit with Takao talking with Seiryu was also really nice. If I recall, the dub actually had Dragoon speak, which while wasn't unexpected or weird, it makes for a different effect entirely. The lyrics to JET and What's the Answer were also a lot of fun to translate. RE: Random Beyblade Anime and Manga Thoughts - Psykick B - Oct. 23, 2015 My feelings towards the dub fluctuate all the time. I think there's a handful of good performances, or at least certain episodes that aren't as bad as others. It kind of sticks out to me, because if you're familiar with dubbed anime, you'll notice the same 20-30 actors in about every show. Bakuten Shoot was recorded in Canada, so even with all its unsavory changes, it sounds different by the virtue of having actors you don't normally hear. And, on the contrasting side of that, the dub still had a lot of recycled talent(Kane/Rai/tons of one-offs all the same guy, Tony Daniels plays four regular characters and does the replacement voice for three others when the original actors weren't available). But yeah, the 2001 dub is trash the entire way through. And thanks Siliva for your continued work. I would really like to get this show(and the manga) done all the way. Over fifteen years since it debuted, over 10 years since the dub ended... It's time. RE: Random Beyblade Anime and Manga Thoughts - Kai-V - Nov. 07, 2015 Man, this fanart of Takao with Ultimate Dragoon and Kai with Frostic Dranzer in the style of the very first Bakuten Shoot Beyblade Game Boy Color game bewilders me, because clearly it would have been a great series even if that had been the beginning and not the Seiryuu and Suzaku that we know. http://www.pixiv.net/member_illust.php?mode=medium&illust_id=53425679 Note : Fanart is for the eyes only. It is not acceptable to use these pictures as avatar or for any personal but public purposes. I cannot say that I have the same impressions about Beyblade Burst or even Metal Fight Beyblade, to an extent. RE: Random Beyblade Anime and Manga Thoughts - Siliva - Dec. 03, 2015 After quite some time, I bring you Bakuten Shoot Beyblade, episode 6! https://youtu.be/VUDTYEFCGgw I took this opportunity to finally get a translation of the OP/ED. Fighting Spirits is such a fun song to translate. Easy, but to the point. Cheer Song was a little tougher, but I think I handled it well. Episode 6 itself is one I always really liked for some reason, though I can't quite pinpoint why. From my vague memory of the dub, I can't say anything notable or major was cut, I think. But some of the dialogue, good lord. I know the early days of the dub were rough, but the technobabble when Kenny's talking to Tyson after the first round defeat. I was kind of dreading getting to that, but the Japanese is surprisingly straightforward. All in all, a fun episode to translate. RE: Random Beyblade Anime and Manga Thoughts - Meta madness - Dec. 13, 2015 [Image: latest?cb=20120929180943] Gave the battle bladers Saga another read and before found it to be slightly worse than the animes take on battle bladers...though this time around...My hopes of it looking better then what I thought of it before...Crippled... I do like how in the anime they respected all of gingkas matches (kinda). since each round he did take on someone from the mangas order even if it's out of order (Ryutaro, Yu, Rejii, and Ryuga). though i will give credit where credit is due so eh, after a few chats with jinbee and momohimi. decided to post my thoughts on this and compare what's better in the manga and what's better in the anime. Match ups: Everyone in the image above is who made it to battle bladers in the manga (Minus Busajima) though here is a list of those who made it in. Spoiler (Click to View) The Manga's matches while they showed off...had some quick passes. Notably Tobios easy victory because his opponent misfired(or launched late, either or) and Rejii passing because Phoenix never showed up for there battle.....I guess the anime wins here since everyone in battle bladers actually battled and or showed up. Though there were some impressive things in the first match, notably Hikarus performance against Tsubasa, since she actually had a fighting chance and the way she couldn't outmaneuver him and he completely won over her was astounding. Then again in the anime same round second to last match between Hyoma and Rejii, was devastating as well but that match has significance for another reason. [Image: latest?cb=20120929180958] Overall, not to bad but hey. Though hey those who faced who in the second round wasn't all that bad before those who haven't read the manga...The Semi-Finals is the exact same competing. Kyoya vs Ryuga and Ginga vs Rejii (Except Gingka pretty much shatters his beyblade, he's a lot more emotional in the manga) the second round is what i call a unique way to waste time. Round 2 is a complete tag team battle... Ginga and Kyoya vs Yu and Tsubasa Sora and Tobio vs Ryuga and Rejii while the match with tobio was a joke since Ryuga and Rejii double crossed him, Sora being stuck to face ryuga was pretty depressing though this is where Sora shined, being able to give Ryuga more trouble then benkai could was pretty nice to see. He faced him head on but was defeated sadly. The match with tsubasa and yu was pretty eh, though all you need to know is that Tsubasa was pretty much getting chased around like a dog evading animal control. Anime wise, while it had a stupid reason to shuffle up the battles, like zee manga. The battles were pretty nice....3 of them anyway...(Seriously Ryutaro literally has OP powers he showed off with his first match with Gingka, there is no way he should lose to gingka, let alone provide a boring as pork battle, however the boring battle is replaced with the weight on this match up and adding information on past conflicts and the roads they took makes it all the more important.).... Tsubasa losing in the second round like in the manga and Kenta losing in his second match like in the manga (He lost to Yu before I forget to mention this, prior he beat Busijima because he's also garbage tier in the manga.) Honestly the battle with Kyoya vs Benkai was pretty good, to see someones inspiration taking them on and actually taking them seriously rather motivating to see, and since Benkai had so much motivation directed towards Kyoya, it gives it a grander sense of weight in the Battle Bladers second match up. (Would argue that it's the most inspiring match in MFB) Semi Finals all the same. Except the weight on kyoyas battle with Ryuga is more personal besides "Hey, I gotta beat Ginga" mainly because his vow of friendship to take down Ryuga after Benkai's lost makes a lot harder to take since Kyoya, like his friend before him. Was a failure at this task. [Image: latest?cb=20120906021859] Ginga beat Rejii....Also he fought Pheniox....but that's not important.... RE: Random Beyblade Anime and Manga Thoughts - Jinbee - Dec. 30, 2015 Haha... well after watching a couple of Beyblade series, there is something worse than that... Here is a few cliches and overused Beyblade lines that I honestly hate or cannot stand being overused, I'll include the ones used in the dub, since the old gen dub I watched more of. Lines - "The real battle starts now!" - "You mess with the bull, you get the horns!" - "The battle shall be decided in one final attack!" (Not sure on this one) - "...Like the Fourth of July!" (Especially Old Gen) - "We've grown a lot stronger!" (This I usually don't mind, but when it's clear that they aren't better than that's what I don't like that) Moments - Whenever someone says along the lines "Looks like I win", the main character goes "IM NOT DONE YET!" Offscreen, especially in Metal Fusion. - Something to do with having shooting stars fall into the earth. - Final beast... Dark purple body and red eyes, seemingly a D-Rights staple for that matter. Seriously, what is with their obsession with that? RE: Random Beyblade Anime and Manga Thoughts - Meta madness - Dec. 30, 2015 That 4D finale guy was terrible anyway RE: Random Beyblade Anime and Manga Thoughts - Jinbee - Dec. 30, 2015 (Dec. 30, 2015 9:36 PM)Meta madness Wrote: That 4D finale guy was terrible anyway I'm pretty sure that Lightning L-Dragon and Kerbecs had this trope too, as well as Perseus, and I know Perseus and Kerbecs aren't the final villains but at the openings they seemed to be the big focus for their time and were supposed to be the big threats. Things like Cross Fight B-Daman ES had this problem too and it's another D-Rights, Zeus has the red eyes but not the dark glowing purple body. I can't remember if Bahamdia had it as well. But god do I really hate the line "The real battle starts now"... RE: Random Beyblade Anime and Manga Thoughts - Siliva - Jan. 01, 2016 Most of those lines are actually pretty common in the Japanese version. Possible less grating since it's in another language, but I get tired of translating "The real battle starts now!" and "I'm not done yet!". I try to find creative ways to word them though, ha. RE: Random Beyblade Anime and Manga Thoughts - Jinbee - Jan. 05, 2016 It's kind of strange that across all series, Ming Ming is one of the few to have a perfect win record, or at least has never lost, it's weird to think that not even Ryuga or Ginga had that. Two wins out of two means nothing compared to out of even ten. You can luckily get tails if you toss a coin twice, but try keeping that record for twenty coin tosses. It is a law of statistics. I wasn't saying that made her better! I was simply pointing out that she just happened to have never lost. RE: Random Beyblade Anime and Manga Thoughts - Meta madness - Jan. 05, 2016 Ming Ming was annoying anyway. Also she withdrew her match against Lee and Rick so yeah, ya know... Admittingly, I actually really wanted to see her lose, I remember being disappointed that she beat Daichi. RE: Random Beyblade Anime and Manga Thoughts - Meta madness - Jan. 05, 2016 Unfortunately the closest defeat she suffered was the episode where Boris reintroduced himself in the series RE: Random Beyblade Anime and Manga Thoughts - Jinbee - Jan. 05, 2016 (Jan. 05, 2016 3:44 AM)Meta madness Wrote: Unfortunately the closest defeat she suffered was the episode where Boris reintroduced himself in the series Or having revealing that she worked at Wendy's lol! I think that was one of the few times Lee was cool, giving Ming Ming some challenge. I think Nile from MFB would have had a perfect record if it hadn't been for his bare loss in the battle with Masamune, Ginga and Kyoya. RE: Random Beyblade Anime and Manga Thoughts - Psykick B - Jan. 07, 2016 It's January 8 in Japan; the first series turns 15 today. Luckily episode 1 is pretty chill and rewatching it doesn't get old. RE: Random Beyblade Anime and Manga Thoughts - Meta madness - Jan. 12, 2016 Happy be-lated birthday. RE: Random Beyblade Anime and Manga Thoughts - Jinbee - Jan. 12, 2016 Well, guess it could be worse, it could be those Ryuga and Kai fanboys who hate me for not loving them... RE: Random Beyblade Anime and Manga Thoughts - BeyGa - Jan. 13, 2016 Hey, guys! So, I was taking a little peek at the last Beyblade Burst chapters released and, when I saw Kaiser (or whatever is the name of the Xcalibur guy) I thought he's a little too "comical" for a bad guy. Well, I don't even know if he is some sort of villain, but he certainly is a threat because of his power. Then what if he became the first bad guy? Would it be nice to see some comic character as an antagonist? I don't recall any character that was like that... RE: Random Beyblade Anime and Manga Thoughts - Kai-V - Jan. 13, 2016 Honestly it would be worth considering if the rest of the story so far was amazing, but my answer comes very quickly : no. RE: Random Beyblade Anime and Manga Thoughts - Jinbee - Jan. 13, 2016 I would love to see a comedic villain! It would be so cool and different rather than those cookie cutter deep and evil baddies... or Ryuga... But this does bring up one point I've been building up for a while now... WHAT THE HELL IS D-RIGHTS DAMN FASCINATION TO MAKE EVERY DAMN FINAL VILLAIN IN THEIR TOYBASE ANIME DARK BODY AND GLOWING RED EYES?! Seriously though? It was in Beyblade, B-Daman, Scan2go and even Beast Wars! And that's not even counting any I've missed or any other final villains from a multiple series! [Image: 2cgnggx.jpg] This cliche is so tiresome it annoys me... Hopefully we won't have those for once! RE: Random Beyblade Anime and Manga Thoughts - BeyGa - Jan. 13, 2016 About the red glowing eyes... We still don't know this guy! [Image: 5dydLlT.jpg] That's why I think Kaiser not as a main villain... But his hair is red, then I bugged. Anyway I'd like to see something different, but we have literally nothing on Burst so far. I'm kinda worried about the plot (that doesn't really exist until now...) |
