iType-Design logo feedback - BeyUK-Espio - Jan. 14, 2010

I need feedback regarding my logo in the making. I needed to update my branding/appearance. With a new website, this was required.

Below is a link to an A4 page with four variations of the same logo. This will only appear on letter heads such as my CV and on business cards. This is just a logo, trying to fit iType-Design on it will ruin it in my opinion which is where I'm having issues. I could try and make the text act as either one or both of the bars. Let me know, the link is below:

No colour is added as it's still in development. This design is straight from my journal from a month ago.

i think you should design the stly of lettering more detailed and make it stand out overall i think it looks good
as a logo. but you cant tell as soon as you see it what it says so yeah detail the text, for example the edges the curves boldness font and make it more visable

also the best one out of the 4 is the top right ( my opinion)

I definitely think the first one looks best. None of the lines above and below fit very well IMO.

RE: iType-Design logo feedback - Kai-V - Jan. 14, 2010

The logo between the two lines is better in my opinion.

However, you show a lot of collage on your website, and this logo does not seem to fit that. Perhaps you should try making something good with letters placed miscellaneously on top of one another. Something so square does not seem good.

try making it look like brushed metal

RE: iType-Design logo feedback - BeyUK-Espio - Jan. 15, 2010

Brushed metal? What does that look like. I know a few of you know what a logo is meant to be but for those that dont, a logo should be simple and effective and not contain too much if any detail. This is my understanding from my design background. Thankyou for your comments however.

If he only wants it on letterheads and business cards at a minimal cost, then yes, I would say that brushed metal would be too detailed and inappropriate for the logo ...

I personally KNOW it won't. I have been taught and learnt from experiance that plain logos with one or two colours made up of simple shapes or lettering are best. If you want proof then I will take scans of my book of logos made by professionals.
