Prototype games and consoles (unreleased/beta) - Neo - Nov. 03, 2015

I thought this would be a fun topic.
Prototype games are always interesting to me; especially things locked behind doors that developers, even decades later, won't tell you about.
Probably a great example is the Sonic 2 prototypes; or unreleased games like Sonic Xtreme.
Lots of Sonic today, Huh?
Okay, there's an unreleased Indiana Jones game on Genesis that they're trying to release now.

RE: Prototype games and consoles (unreleased/beta) - Hato - Nov. 03, 2015

Wow... The thread I've been waiting for all my life <3

I love this kind of stuff, and always read about it.

The Sonic Xtreme game interested me.., shame it wasn't released..

Also, could we talk about lost games/existence unconfirmed like Polybius or Yeah Yeah Beebis?

RE: Prototype games and consoles (unreleased/beta) - MissingNo. - Nov. 03, 2015

There's so much accessible ROMs of Atari 2600 prototypes out there, and for some reason, it kinda makes me sad to ''play it'' and see that all of these games will never be properly finished. Like Pompeii, Mcdonald's, Planet of the Apes or Star Wars Ewok Adventure.

RE: Prototype games and consoles (unreleased/beta) - Jinbee - Nov. 03, 2015

Sonic Xtreme was sort of revived in the concept of Sonic Lost World. Though I wish it was the real Sonic Xtreme because it could have helped the Saturn, then again two Sonic games didn't help the Dreamcasts measly two years.

Wasn't there the rumoured Airworld Atari 2600 prototype?

RE: Prototype games and consoles (unreleased/beta) - Neo - Nov. 03, 2015

I'm still excited about the Play Station proto.
Hopefully it works.

Sonic Xtreme is a real shame.

RE: Prototype games and consoles (unreleased/beta) - Jinbee - Nov. 03, 2015

Wait, there was also an unreleased Superman game IIRC on the PS1, which I hear was good.

But no, the N64 version didn't allow that PS1 game to be released, Warner Bros iz stoopid!

RE: Prototype games and consoles (unreleased/beta) - Neo - Nov. 03, 2015

Inb4 superman 64 is crappy nights

Look at every NiGHTS video's comments; Lel

Back on topic now, I wonder if the SNESPS has any sort of readable media?

We talked plenty about that prototype console on AssemblerGames since the day it surfaced back in July. Of course, as with anything, there's always gotta be naysayers out there, and they think that the prototype was faked, often claiming that they had sources confirming so.

Well, there's plenty of proof that the prototype is real, so there! Go see for yourself on the AssemblerGames forum.

Naysayers asides, some people wanted to buy the console off of him, while others wanted him to donate it to a museum or give it to Nintendo or Sony. The guy who owns the console and is slated to show it off at a retro gaming convention this November is not gonna sell it or give it to Sony or Nintendo. Of course, he's also gonna start it up there, but first, he'll have a professional electrician take a look at the console to make sure that it could run without any problems.

Speaking of prototypes consoles, have any of you guys ever heard of the Neo-Star? Well, if you haven't check out this article that I made of it on the SNK Wiki here: http://snk.wikia.com/wiki/Neo_Star

RE: Prototype games and consoles (unreleased/beta) - Neo - Nov. 03, 2015

Convention in Hong Kong; for some reason.
I'm scared for its safety honestly.
It has to be real.

Wow..the Neo-Star sounds uber impressive.

I really want to know what it's like!

RE: Prototype games and consoles (unreleased/beta) - Neo - Nov. 03, 2015

Same. Air world would be very interesting.

Hey, atari president; can we have our relics back, too?

Sega Neptune.....r.i.p....

RE: Prototype games and consoles (unreleased/beta) - Neo - Nov. 03, 2015

Neptune? Eh. The 32X came out and showed its terrible self; I'm glad it didn't come out as a separate console.

Kinda wished the winner of Earthworld didn't decide to melt his prize, no I'm serious he had it melted for less than half it's money, though he kept a small piece.

Remember the Virtual Boy link cable?

RE: Prototype games and consoles (unreleased/beta) - MissingNo. - Nov. 03, 2015

Seriously, the ''modern'' Atari (or what remains of Atari) have nothing to do with the innovative pioneer of the video game industry it used to be in the 80's. But what happened to Atari is not as sad as what happened to Sega Tongue_out

RE: Prototype games and consoles (unreleased/beta) - Jinbee - Nov. 03, 2015

Yeah, at least SEGA is still around, Atari has faded to obscurity.

RE: Prototype games and consoles (unreleased/beta) - T. L-Drago 9207 - Nov. 04, 2015

Speaking of Sega, have you heard back in 2013 about the Sega Pluto?

Yeah, it's a Netlink Saturn. So; cool. I just wish that the bootup was different. Cool that it has unique boards tho.

RE: Prototype games and consoles (unreleased/beta) - T. L-Drago 9207 - Nov. 04, 2015

And an on-board NetLink modem. Oh, and an E3 mock-up of the Pluto showed up on eBay much earlier this year. The auction ended near the end of February.

RE: Prototype games and consoles (unreleased/beta) - Neo - Nov. 08, 2015

I wonder that happened to the copy of Sonic 1 at the Tokyo Toy Show in 1990...
I wish we could still ride on Robotniks giant swinging ball of doom in levels.
