Crunchyroll/Subscription Site Discussion - LeonTempest - Aug. 11, 2014

Anime/manga piracy is a larger problem than most people think. Many just use 3rd party sites and torrents, not considering the consequences. Years ago, the idea of anime being fan-subbed was a blessing, because the chances of your show leaving japan any time soon or receiving any official sub was near zero. And as a foreigner (assuming you dont live in Japan), this was something that was overall very harmless.

But now the game has changed, and anime and manga have reached into an international market. Watching anime or reading manga "illegally" actually does more to hurt the creators of these franchises. But even so, a bad mentality still remains; "why should I pay for my anime when I can get it for free somewhere else?"

For those of you not in the know, Crunchyroll.com is a completely LEGAL website that allows you to privately stream almost any anime to your PC, xbox360, or playstation3, with PROFESSIONAL ENGLISH SUBS (I am unaware if support has launched for current gen systems). Almost all shows are available in 720p and 1080p, and some shows even offer dubbed versions. Any show avalaiblle on the site can be watched any where, any time.

Free Users have almost unlimited access to all the shows, but must wait one week to watch the latest episode of an ongoing show. Premium users can simulcast these new episodes as soon as they are released, with the complete subtitles, in 1080, usually just after it airs in Japan. Free or premium, this is the site that matters.

Feel free to answer in the above poll. Also, as a long time member here, and proud Crunchyroll Premium Member, feel free to use these guest passes (first come first serve)

Well, I'm gonna be honest; I don't use Crunchyroll all the time. If you don't have a Premium Account the quality of the Anime is actually quite rubbish. I don't feel like paying as you don't get every Anime on there. I was once looking for Highschool of the Dead and just got direct to buy something I think, hah. Generally speaking, I just don't think it's worth it to donate. Maybe if they added more Anime and features I might consider it. Right now I can watch 1080p Anime without Crunchyroll and within the 1 or something it's aired in Japan.

I don't mean to hurt the creator's, but how else will I see there show to support them?

I think I may snag on of those smexy passes, though. Eee

I used to use Crunchyroll but I got tired of the ads appearing every 7-10 minutes between the anime so I deleted it.

Pay for adblocker? No it's free, it's just an extension for Google Chrome that you can add on Smile

RE: Crunchyroll/Subscription Site Discussion - LeonTempest - Aug. 14, 2014

Im sure apple devices have an app equivilent

RE: Crunchyroll/Subscription Site Discussion - iVtechboyinpa - Aug. 14, 2014

I personally don't like Crunchyroll for the fact that:
A) Sometimes the subs aren't the greatest. Fansubs sometimes are a whole lot better.
B) I host a media server, so I rather have my anime downloaded.
C) I hate having to pay to not wait a week to see my favorite anime (SAO II!)

Really, there are things I hate paying for, honestly. Like, if anime was broadcast on TV in America, I'd be fine. But there's also the fact that Crunchyroll will never have ALL the anime you want to see. I don't know, I think I'm just a bit biased towards downloading anime.

If you use Firefox, you can get Adblock Plus as an add-on even on mobile devices, so I'm sure you can do the same on tablets.
