"Hey look it's the nerd!" James Thomas called at me.

I am Callen Vargas. I have brown hair that tends to stick up for some reason. I have

brown eyes with a peach tone of skin. My face is kind of round so it also looks like a

peach with glasses. Usually, it takes a lot to anger me, but one thing that comes out of

James' mouth is enough. He thinks he can bully people just because he is

in high school. Its all going to come back to him. His broad muscular structure and

intimidating eyes are probably what makes him... intimidating.

As I walked down the school hallway, kids laughed at me because of what James had

said. I hate it when he calls me a nerd."Aren't you going to say something, nerd?"he

said with his dog like breath crawling its way up my nose. I opened my mouth to say

something, but the bell had rang. I walked home angry at everything. James, the

school. Even my neighbor's dog whimpered when it saw how angry I was.

When I got home, I went up to my room and slammed the door. My parents were at

work so they couldn't hear it.

I got so mad I felt like my heart was on fire. Actually, it felt like my body was on fire.

When I opened my eyes I saw something glowing. I couldn't find out what it was until I

had to go to the bathroom. As I looked in the the

mirror, I almost passed out. It turned that I was the one that was glowing. I was on fire

I freaked out trying to extinguish my flames. I panicked even more when it hurt when I

ran water on my hand.

The flame just got bigger. I panicked even more when I heard the door open. I realized

that my parents came home.

"Callen, are you home?"my mother called.

" Yes, I'm coming," I said.

I still couldn't get the flames off of my body. I had tried everything. Spraying the water on my face. Using a fan.

Even drinking the water.

"Are you okay up there?"my dad called.

"Just fine!"

"I'm coming up there to give you your snack since you're to good for us to come down here,"my mom said.

"That's okay I'm coming"

"Too late,"she said,"I am already coming"

I had to do something quick.

"Are you in there?"she opened the door to the bathroom.

Chapter 1

"What in the world are you doing and why does it smell like smoke?"she asked.

What was I going to say? My body caught on fire by accident? I had no choice but to lie.

"You see the lights cut off and I was thinking 'What will happen when we can't see at night?' So I was trying to find some candles.When I found some, I lit one for later. Then the fire got big and I tried to put it out. When you came home the lights came back a-"

As soon as I was about to continue, the power shut down.

"For a minute there I thought you were lying,"my mom said.

Phew! If I went any further I think I would've exploded. Now if only I could prevent that from happening again...

"Thank you so much," my mom said getting off of the phone,"The electrician said he'd be here later on today."

"Wonder what could've caused that to happen,"my dad said.

As soon as he said that, I saw a flash of light fly across the window. What was that ?

"Mom, I'm going for a walk," I said trying to remember which direction "it" flew.

When I walked out the door, I heard her say something but didn't pay attention.

I walked along the sidewalk. I looked down to see scuff marks on the ground. Although

they didn't look like scuff marks. They looked like lightning struck there. I followedthem

to a house away from town. I wondered if the house was empty. So I peeked

inside. I saw a dim light in the room I thought was a kitchen. I opened the door slightly

to see what it was. All of a sudden, I flare up again.

"No,"I said as I groaned.

Maybe, I thought, it could help me see. I just can't touch anything, though. Then I heard

a rumble behind me. Then came the flash of light I saw earlier.

Then a shock to my back. I felt pain all around my body. I felt dizzy and collapsed.

I was out of it. I heard mumbling but couldn't make out who was talking. It felt like I was shocked by a taser. I heard more mumbling this time I could hear two people.

I could only hear "intruder" and "shouldn't have done that." I tried to get up, but I felt like I was paralyzed. I managed to to get on my knee.

"Now look what you've done. You woke him up with all your lecturing,"I heard one voice say.
"Shut up. Hey dude are you okay?"I heard another voice ask me.

All of a sudden, I burst into flames. They jumped back but weren't surprised. I got up to see two boys. One with blonde hair,that seemed to generate electricity, brown eyes and a pale face. One with green-brown hair, dark brown eyes and almost brown skin.

"Guess I have to shock him again for burning my fingers!"the blonde haired kid said.
"Storm, wait!"

As soon as he his arm generated electricity, my flame got bigger and lit up the whole room. Then a kind of force knocked the kid back to the wall.

"Whoa, I didn't know I could do that!"I said with amazement I said with my flames going out.
"That was awesome!"the green haired kid said.
"Whatever. What were you doing here."

I told them all about the flash of light and power outage. They told me their names.

"I thought I was draining some old house's energy,"said Storm the blonde haired kid.
"You shouldn't have drained any house's energy,"said Lance the green haired kid.
"Well could you some how put the energy back, please,"I said.

Storm made a face that said "No"

"Storm, do it now,"said Lance.
" Oh fine. I will be right back,"he said.

He turned into a bolt of lightning and flew out.

"So how did you do that," Lance said.
"Do what?" I asked
"You know...that fire thing,"he said.
"I really don't know. Today I just burst into flames and wigged out,"I explained.
"Well let me show you something cool."

We stepped outside. Lance kneeled down and put his hand on the ground. Then a plant started growing and growing until it was a full tree.

"Whoa!"I exclaimed.
"I can also do this,"he said as he pulled up a vine and started whipping me with it.
"Ow!" I said.

Then I burst into flames.

"Again? Really? I can't control it,"I said with frustration.
"Listen. You can come back tomorrow and I can help you with your...'flame problem'"he said.
"Really? Cool! Thanks,"I agreed.

A few minutes later, Storm came back.

"Finished,"he said in relief.

I checked my watch. It somewhat melted, but I could see the time. It was 8:57.

"How am I supposed to make it home in three minutes?"I exclaimed.

Then fire was carrying me up. It was like a hover board.

"This is cool,"I said flying home on my new hover board.
