Astro Boy - Zanzetsuken - Sep. 09, 2009

Come on, you all must've heard this name before. It's been famous for over 50 years.

If you don't know then

So what do you think of Astro Boy? Especially the movie?

RE: Astro Boy - Omega - Sep. 09, 2009

I used to love Astro Boy about 4 years ago xD
I might see the new movie with my friends since we all used to watch the series xD

RE: Astro Boy - Zanzetsuken - Sep. 09, 2009

I don't even know why they'd create the movie after the show ended like 20 years or so ago. This situation reminds me of the DBZ movie except not live action.

RE: Astro Boy - To - Sep. 09, 2009

My first (and thus far only exposure) to animated Astroboy was from the recent remake series that aired on YTV.

I'm somewhat hyped for the animated movie. I trust the production studio behind it, since they created the visually awesome TMNT. Sadly, I'm not sure it'll be a box office hit, the movie studio that got the movie isn't exactly Warner, or Paramount.

The original show ended well over 20 years ago. The original show started in the 1960's. And the manga that inspired it is even older. Astro became a cultural phenomenom in Japan, inspiring tonnes of things like Astro, and was one of the first Japanese animated television series to get wide exposure in the United States. It has since then spanned numerous remakes (including a Japanese live action TV show), sequels, and spinoffs, the most recent remake series was finished in 2003/4. Astroboy's story is a timeless one. And it will be told over, and over again. The Imagi movie proves that.

RE: Astro Boy - Zanzetsuken - Sep. 09, 2009

Yeah, I guess so. According to Wikipedia; Astro is " the god of manga" and I believe this is true. I like Astro's past with Doctor Tenma due to him being a robot replica of his own son. I haven't seen much of the Old Astro Boy show but I liked the 2003/4 version alot. I should rent out the videos

RE: Astro Boy - Neeek - Sep. 09, 2009

RE: Astro Boy - fragbait - Sep. 09, 2009

Movie's gonna rock. I almost had a crazy attack in the middle of a theatre when I saw the trailer.

RE: Astro Boy - Dude - Sep. 10, 2009

I do remember Astro Boy...although I never got around to watching it on TV, I had the pleasure to find it online, watched and...well, it's a good show.

Won't say it's great, 'cause...it's not, but it's good. It's better than a lot of anime/manga I've seen recently and that movie seems like a good way to reboot it!

RE: Astro Boy - Blue - Sep. 10, 2009

Astro is the shiz! Pretty much started it all.
HE's pretty great, in that many themes and questions arised by Astro being an android but also human.
I've seen the complete 03/04 series for sale at hmv- plan on buying it as I think ytv[and states] only aired like 20-29 something episodes Speechless Anyone else think the intro was dope!?

I will definately be catching this, tho when i first heard I was skeptical.

RE: Astro Boy - The_Lumberman - Sep. 10, 2009

I never really got into the series growing up, but I'm definitely going to see the movie. Even people who don't care about anime know what Astroboy is, it's had some amazing exposure. MY MOM knows what Astroboy is.

I think Astroboy will be a modest success in the North American markets, but I'd see it doing really well overseas/worldwide.

RE: Astro Boy - Zanzetsuken - Sep. 10, 2009

The part I think was the cutest in the trailer was the part where his hands turned into beams and the might was so powerful it blew him away. Astro is so cute with his chubby hands ><

RE: Astro Boy - Dirge - Sep. 10, 2009

astro boy=amazing
i love Osamu Tezuka's metropiles and kimba the white lion so many amazing mangas/animes by him

RE: Astro Boy - Zanzetsuken - Sep. 10, 2009

I've recently noticed this but there are many re-occurring characters from his other mangas appearing in Astro Boy! Another thing that makes it unique ( it all fits together)

RE: Astro Boy - Dirge - Sep. 10, 2009

yeah its realy good
not one of my favorites but still its amazing for when it was written

RE: Astro Boy - Zanzetsuken - Sep. 10, 2009

Out of all the villains so far; I like Pluto the best. He reminds me of a friendly giant who is also deadly. I like those kinds of characters.

Who is your Favourite Villain and why?

RE: Astro Boy - To - Oct. 23, 2009

Movie opens today in North America. I'll watch it this weekend, but I'm a little disapointed that it lack Pluto.

RE: Astro Boy - Zanzetsuken - Oct. 23, 2009

Cool! I'm going to watch the movie tonight with my sister! Hope it ends good!
