I've actually never heard of David Guetta before and I only listened to 'The Sound of Letting Go' but he doesn't sound like anything special. He has a nice enough voice, but that background track is awful. It sounds like stock club techno music, like there was little effort in the mixing. There is no distinctive sound here, it just sounds like background music fodder for a bar. I think someone with his vocal strengths could use a better musical backing.

I didn't bother to listen to the other links you posted. Seeing as how the comments for 'The Sound of Letting Go' say that's the best track on the album, I don't think I want to.

He never actually sings on his own songs, so it's not his own voice lol, he's just the DJ. It's far from the best song on the album.. What kind of music do you like btw?

RE: David Guetta - The_Lumberman - Aug. 28, 2009

I honestly don't listen to just specific types of music. I pretty much listen to just about anything I think is well done/entertaining enough. My playlists don't have any kind of consistency, though sometimes I admittedly listen to some awful music if I find it funny/campy enough.

(These aren't favorites or anything, but I'm just using these artists as examples of the kind of variety I listen to)

Frank Sinatra
Chromeo
The Guess Who
Hall & Oates
System of a Down
Ok GO
Franz Ferdinand
Musical Soundtracks
Johnny Cash
Poison
The Rakes
Stevie Wonder
Shirley Bassey
Billy Talent
The Beach Boys

Just a little something of everything.

Wow. This was EXACTLY my reaction. I listened to the first track and thought "what a good voice, but the music itself is pretty bland.." It's pretty disappointing to learn that he's not even the vocalist.
I wouldn't say that he was the best DJ ever, even if you were only referring to trance... but an opinion is an opinion, and you're allowed to have it. The only trance dj's I'm really a big fan of are Gabriel/Dresden. I do like vocal trance though.. I don't know the artists names very well...

I've gotta say, it didn't really feel heavy enough to get me interested enough to dance to or anything either. I like clubby bass heavy music Tongue_out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9oBRgXtyKeE

this is clubmusic, it's electro house, not trance. it's what's played in pretty much all european clubs (electro house, not just guetta), idk how things work in US though lol

Wow, sorry, I read that too. I'm dumb. House is mostly boring. I don't really listen to club music, i listen to rave music, which consists more of trance, dnb, breaks, and hardcore. House is way too slow.

RE: David Guetta - Pich - Aug. 29, 2009

Basically I had the same reaction, too. I'm more into DnB and trance. House isn't really my thing. The vocals didn't stand out much, either.

RE: David Guetta - Roan - Aug. 29, 2009

Ommy is going to be ALL over this thread.

I love "Tomorrow Can Wait", it's awesome.
