The Beautiful Dive

Nail was scared as he was about to dive into the deep ocean. The poor man had to do it as he had put a bet with his rival, Zane who was a former diving champion.
“What made me do this?” he muttered, looking at Zane who was watching with a sinister gleam in his eye. Unluckily it rained that very day and the ocean was rough but Nail knew that the five hundred dollars he wagered must be won. Nail had to dive from a height of fifty feet.
“Better give up, coward,” mocked Zane with a smirk. Annoyed by Zane’s insults, Nail pushed aside his fear and dived into the rough ocean.
Nail’s fear was no longer in him, remembering the teaching’s of his former master, Wang. He remembered his master’s exact words.
“Push your fear out of your body because with fear nothing is possible,” Wang used to quote. In an instant the dive was done and Nail was in the water, Zane staring in anger from the cliff. However it was not over as Nail struggled, furiously, trying to get to the ladder which rested near by so he could climb up but it was nearly impossible as the waves continued to push him farther away from it. Frustrated, Nail remembered another of Wang’s quotes.
“Nothing is your enemy, if you think fire is you enemy, cool it with water. If you think water is your enemy, do not worry for water is calm and flowing,” he used to say.
Going underwater the former student of Wang’s Academy became calm like water and lost his fear and frustration.
“It’s over,” sneered Zane from the cliff. But Nail knew that Zane was trying to make him lose confidence and so paid no attention to him. Eventually, after bit of struggle, Nail made it to the ladder. Slowly he climbed it, taking his time. He knew Zane was angry and he took advantage of it by using it as fuel to gain confidence. He got a glimpse of his rival’s angry and frustrated face and grinned. He soon made it to the last step but Zane, suddenly lost control of himself and pushed Nail who fell back into the rough and forbidding ocean. Rain pelted down fast but a few reporters hoping to take this as a great story. Nearby police saw the entire incident of how Zane pushed him. They took Zane in for trial. However Zane laughed, manically, knowing that Nail owed him money. Little did he know Nail had climbed his way back to the top.
“Later, Zane!” he said. Zane noticing him cursed him under his breath, shook his fist and warned Nail for consequences to come. Zane was later arrested while Nail got his money and became the Diver of the Year.

The Raging Hurricane




“We have a problem boss,” said my colleague, Corin to me. I stared at him dumbstruck. Here we were, flying above the great Atlantic Ocean on a helicopter, had enough supplies to last for at least another fortnight. Everything was going smoothly, that is until we saw one of the roughest hurricane in front of us. Our crew consisted of Corin, the pilot, my friend whose name was Steve, and of course myself, the boss. Corin was a rough and tough person who had a reputation for always doing what he said. Usually he was the courageous one of our crew but when he saw that raging hurricane, his blue eyes had lost their spark and instead were filled with fear. His face was filled with horror and had turned as white as a ghost.
Steve was the brains of the crew. He had the reputation of having bright ideas in a deadly position. He too was filled with fear.
“Hope you have an idea, Steve,” I said with a frightened look. Steve shook his head. No bright ideas were entering his mind.
Suddenly, the vicious hurricane was too much for the small helicopter to handle and kept on going back. But although I was scared I was determined to tame the rampaging storm. As I was the boss, the crew expected me to give them orders which I did.
“Corin, try to hang on as long as you can, Steve, you get the life jackets and parachutes ready,” I ordered. They obediently followed their orders. Soon Steve was ready with the parachutes and life jackets.
“Hey boss,” called Corin, “I am activating all engines and will go in full speed… now.” Before I had time to tell him to continue, the speed increased ten folds and I fell on my seat with a bump.
“It won’t work,” I protested but the brave pilot trusted his helicopter.
“She can make it, after she won a championship a few years back,” he boasted. Slowly the parts of the helicopter started to fly off into the deep Atlantic Ocean. Soon the supplies flew off as well. Rain pelted into the helicopter soon when the roof flew off. The controls, damaged by the rain started to ignore Corin like a spoilt child.
”Come on, come on, you can do it” encouraged Corin. The helicopter started to descend into the blue sea.
“Enough of this, Corin” I yelled at him. “Get your parachute, now.”
Corin did not care what happened to him.
“When she dies, I die,” he yelled back.
“Use your head,” I yelled then suddenly became silent, he would not change his mind, he was too determined to do so. “Let’s go, Steve, he is not coming.”
Steve reluctantly joined me with his parachute. We gave his out farewells which he accepted, coldly. I myself was reluctant but I had to. Steve and I held each others hands and jumped down. The wind kept moving us apart and soon we were separated.
Thankfully I made it to the unforgiving sea alive. I could not see more than a few feet ahead of me. Lighting split and lighted the sky for a few seconds and we heard the roar of it a few seconds after the light.
Suddenly something underwater grabbed my legs. Frightened, I tried to swim away.
“Boss?” said a figure, rising up. It was Steve. We gave a sudden cry of victory when we realized something. We were still in a rampaging storm.
“Any ideas?” I asked, hopefully.
“Yes,” he replied, a stroke of triumph in his voice. Then sadly he said “but first, I found remains of the helicopter” I stared at him, unable to accept the fact that the rough and tough Corin was dead. Corin of all people.
“The idea?” I asked, dolefully.
“You have your water-proof phone,” he asked.
“Yeah,” I said without any spirit. I knew what he was thinking. I took out my blue phone about to use it. “Steve, it has no battery.”
“No,” shouted Steve frustrated. “Go underwater we are continuously being pushed by this brute of a hurricane.” I agreed and went to the country where only fish can breathe. I held my breath as long as I could, determined not to join Corin. I cursed myself for letting him go.
We started to swim and managed to make plenty of distance in one breath. Soon I was starting to lose stamina. Steve was an expert swimmer and this was a breeze to him but I was a terrible swimmer, without a bit of stamina. I was better in land sports than water ones.
The hurricane started to calm. I came up for breath and noticed this and so yelled.
“I have tamed you,” and then went back underwater. It seemed as if the hurricane was angered by me and so continued to rage.
Underwater, I signaled Steve to come up which he reluctantly obeyed.
“What is it?” he asked breathing heavily.
“I saw an island straight ahead,” I answered. He grinned and we went underwater.
After a long, grueling and painful half hour, we were almost there. When we came up for oxygen, we encouraged each other to go faster. This we used as fuel to power up our determination. After another quarter of an hour, we made it. I shut my eyes for a second but suddenly opened them when I heard the roar of lightning. Slowly we walked a bit farther because if not the storm might pull them to their doom. But tired out we were about to collapse when a few men saw them.
“Maybe they are mister’s friends,” they muttered to each other. Gazing at them I collapsed tired out.
When I regained consciousness, I saw a familiar face staring at me. It was Corin.
“I know you thought I was dead but I still got a few years left on me,” he said with a grin. “Here is what happened, I managed to land on this island and these kind people saved me.”
“But we saw the remains of your helicopter,” said Steve who had also woken up. Corin looked confused.
“Must have been someone else’s,” he said.
The kind men soon repaired Corin’s helicopter. The hurricane had raged itself to nothing and the sea was now calm. After a week we were ready to go to our home of England. With many thanks and farewells we left. Our journey was interesting and scary but it felt good that when I looked below, all I saw was the calm, peaceful ocean.

“3…2…1… Let it rip,” screamed the referee. Confidently, Zane launched his Beyblade, Darkness Zeus GB145Extreme Flat. His opponent Lee had a high win rate, having won every battle so far. The finals of the first tournament that had allowed Beybladers to change Beyblades before each battle, was taking place. Lee gave Zane a smug smile before launching his Beyblade, Dragoon V2.
Someone was observing the battle, the tournament sponsor, Ace.
“That Beyblade,” he wondered aloud to his secretary, “it’s an old, legendary Beyblade, where did this Lee guy find it?”
“No data on him, sir,” replied the secretary.
Meanwhile in the stadium the two Beyblades were battling each other.
“You can’t beat me,” cried Zane, “go Zeus.
“Dragoon, finish him!” ordered Lee, “Galaxy Tornado.”
Dragoon began to emit an eerie, purple aura. Suddenly the aura vanished and was replaced by a raging tornado.
“Zeus, use your Extreme Flat performance tip to race through the tornado to its eye where Dragoon is,” instructed Zane. Zeus attempted to reach the middle but could not; the tornado was too dangerous for even the speedy Zeus to go into.
“Once I win this pathetic contest,” said Lee with a laugh, “Dragoon will be at its maximum power, enough to make me king of the world.”
“You’ll have to get through me first,” said Zane.
“Finish it,” yelled Lee. The power of the tornado increased and Zeus was pushed near the edge of the stadium.
“Come on, Zeus,” encouraged Zane, reaching out, “Special Move, King of Darkness.” Zeus began to emit a blue aura from its bit beast chip and began to spin its way to Dragoon. A beast appeared from the bit beast chip and roared.
“What?” yelled Lee, angrily. But soon he became calm. “Alright let’s have some fun.”
“What is that?” asked Ace’s secretary.
“That is a Bit Beast,” answered Ace.
“A what?” the secretary asked again.
“A Bit Beast is a Beyblade’s spirit,” explained Ace, “it is summoned when a Beyblader needs it the most.”
“I see,” said the secretary. Having sharp ears, Zane heard Ace’s explanation.
“You’re not the only one to be able to summon a Bit Beast,” Lee informed him with an evil laugh, “Dragoon, come out.”
Suddenly the purple aura of Dragoon vanished and was replaced by the figure of a white with blue stripes Dragon. Dragoon and Zeus locked claws with each other.
“Zeus!” yelled Zane.
“Dragoon!” screamed Lee. The two beasts clawed at each other like wild animals. Along with that they also tackled each other. Everything was equal until Zeus missed a shot and Dragoon attacked him. Caught by surprise Zeus was overpowered by far and could find space to counter attack.
Zane attempted to reach in Zeus and talk to him.
“Can you hear me, Zeus?” he said, “I know you are the King of Darkness but we have to save this world. Help me; we must win as the world is at stake.” Zane wasn’t sure if Zeus heard him but it must have as it started to fight back and made the battle equal again. Zane looked at Lee’s face, expecting to see a worried look on his face but all he saw was a smirk.
“This is pathetic,” said Lee. Zeus got lucky and managed to strike Dragoon. Before it could counter Zeus was on him.
“Get real, look which one of us is winning,” said Zane, confidently. Lee replied with a smirk.
“Dragoon!” he shouted. Hearing its owner’s voice, it seemed Dragoon had gotten a power boost and equaled the match once again.
“Zane,” chanted the crowd, “Zane, Zane, Zane.” The two Beyblades clashed against each other, being backed up by their beast.
“Have I ever seen a match like this?” wondered the referee. Then aloud he said, “What a match between two great warriors.”
“Special move!” said Lee, thinking it would be best if he finished it then and there. “Dragon Tornado.” A sudden tornado began; it was much more dangerous than the previous one. The fearsome Dragon disappeared and after a few seconds returned but this time more powerful.
“Special move at full power,” countered Zane, “King of Darkness.” Zeus also disappeared and after a few seconds returned. This time more fearsome, powerful and merciless. The two beasts tackled each other with brute force, the match being equal.
“This is actually not that easy,” muttered Lee, “he’s good.” Hearing him with his sharp ears, Zane smiled.
“Go,” he yelled.
“Finish him,” yelled Lee.
The crowd excitedly began to chatter with each other putting bets, making movies and taking pictures, hoping to sell them.
The two Beyblades started to lose stamina and began to wobble.
“Give it your all, Zeus,” encouraged Zane, “one last hit.”
“You too, Dragoon,” yelled Lee.
The two Beyblades clashed against each other a few more times and were just about to stop when Zane yelled.
“Come on, Zeus.” Using its owner’s will power Zeus managed to hold for just a second longer than Dragoon. The crowd remained silent for a few seconds, then what an outburst. Everyone cheered loudly for the two brave and full of spirit warriors.
“I lost,” whispered Lee to himself.
“Police,” yelled Zane, “this person attempted to take over the world, arrest him.”
The police ran towards him.
“You are under arrest for attempting to take over the world,” said one of them.
“You fools will never apprehend me,” laughed Lee. He picked up his Beyblade and launched it on the ground. Dragoon came out. He sat on it.
“Later.”
“Get him,” screamed Ace from above. The men attempted to apprehend him but Lee flew away, never to be seen again.
That night a party was held, celebrating the finals.
“Here is your trophy, champion,” rewarded Ace giving it to him.
Zane held the trophy high, very happy.
In a dark corner two men were staring at the trophy.
“That was a good match, right Brooklyn,” said one of them.
“Indeed, they have made good use of our Beyblades, Tyson,” said the other.
“Congratulations to him,” said the first one known as Tyson.
“We have to find Lee,” said the one known as Brooklyn.
“Let’s go,” said Tyson. With that the two men wandered off in search of Lee.
