Gaming Restaurant Concept Survey - kayneargand - Jun. 24, 2012

Hey, all.

I'm currently working on a project for my school in which I develop a concept restaurant. Since I am working with a gaming restaurant, which is uncharted territory. I'd like some input from people of all walks of life, and since this is WORLD Beyblade Organization, I thought this would be a great place to gather data.

You can find the survey here. Please take some time to fill out this survey, and pass it on to friends. With your help, my concept restaurant could very well become a reality in the future.

Thank you for your time.

I'll also be answering questions about the restaurant here.

Part 2 of the survey is live! This survey deals with menu items and the ideal cost my customers would like to pay for them. You can find it here: here!

Part 3 will be a revised form of Part 2 with improved prices and menu items based on the response to part 2.

I answered the survey...

I was actually pretty interested! Smile

You know, I went to Gameworks in Seattle a couple of times, so I may take that survey

RE: Gaming Restaurant Concept Survey - RAW - Jun. 24, 2012

I enjoyed answering the survey and if something like this was brought near me, I'd be there day in and day out Tongue_out

RE: Gaming Restaurant Concept Survey - kayneargand - Jun. 24, 2012

Thanks for all the positive responses. I look forward to reading more input from people around the world!

Also please tell your friends. The more information I have, the better this presentation will be.

I actually think I've been to one of these before... in Idaho.

RE: Gaming Restaurant Concept Survey - Shabalabadoo - Jun. 24, 2012

Just did the survey, pretty cool! I can already imagine the Yoshi Eggs and Mario Mushrooms being served, haha!

So you just helped develop a menu item for the restaurant. Thanks!

(By the way, I do give credit where it's due)

I took your survey, and I got to admit, it's a great idea! Also, I too have ideas for menu items, all inspired by the arcade classic, Burgertime: Hostile Hot Dogs, Burgertime Big Burger, Picklepuss Pickle Slices, Eggs Not-So-Over Easy.

OH MY GOD HOW DID I FORGET ABOUT BURGER TIME

There are actually a lot of video game, anime, etc. inspired restaurants in many parts of Japan(such as their Gundam-themed ones, for major example), and you might want to look into those for ideas.

RE: Gaming Restaurant Concept Survey - T. L-Drago 9207 - Jun. 24, 2012

@ Hazel: Yeah, I recall seeing a picture of Neo-Geo Land

That's Japan, though. I'm looking to be the first one in the US.

RE: Gaming Restaurant Concept Survey - Hazel - Jun. 24, 2012

You would not be the first one in the US.

Any idea where the other ones are? I haven't been able to do a search for them.

RE: Gaming Restaurant Concept Survey - Hazel - Jun. 24, 2012

There's at least one in Vegas, iirc, and other users here have mentioned them in this thread...

There aren't many(or any, likely) that actually have themes directly tied to specific franchises, however, because Copyright is not really friendly toward that kind of thing.

The ones in Japan have actual express consent from the copyright, and kick some profit back to them. Just as you cannot make Mario figures and sell them in a legitimate online store as real product, you cannot have "Mario's World 4 Pizzeria" or whatever without Nintendo telling you it's okay.

The best you can hope for, without worry of breaking copyrights and making people much bigger than you very, very mad, is to have a gaming-themed restaurant with numerous arcade machines, VERY generic-looking controller motifs, etc.

Or, he could send the idea to Nintendo and get credit for it. I'm sure if they like and accept the idea, when they begin to open these "restaurant game lounge" places, he could get a cut of the profit.
I would send it to Nintendo over any other manufacturer (Like Microsoft) because I get a gut feeling they would have the most interest in this sort of thing. Also, Nintendo can be very kid friendly and would be more apt to want to use this idea.

If anything, I'd send it to them so that in the rare case they like the idea, I can get a free special Pokemon Mystery gift using the "exclusive lounge WiFi"

EDIT: If you do send it, just be aware that any major company like that gets over 50 or more ideas a day, so they rarely glance at it. You have to hope it stands out to them. It's not likely that any idea ever gets published, but I feel like this is a nice idea and has a much better chance than, say, a 3DS version of "Halo: Reach" (They don't even own the rights to Halo...even Bungie doesn't anymore...).

RE: Gaming Restaurant Concept Survey - Gatsby - Jun. 24, 2012

Answered the servey, I think this is a pretty cool idea myself.
I have an Idea-- Different Areas for the different ESRB ratings, such as E-T-M-And A.

RE: Gaming Restaurant Concept Survey - LeonTempest - Jun. 25, 2012

A very unique and interesting idea. Glad I was able to be a part of the survey process Grin

For the purposes of my project, I'm going to be naming the references for the dishes I'm making. As for when I open the restaurant, I will most definitely be getting express permission from the developers and copyright holders before I put them on the menu, or before I put any game console or game in the internet cafe.

I've got no intention of selling the restaurant concept to any big corporation, because I don't feel like they'll treat the project with the respect and pride that I do. Whereas they'll see it as a way to make money, I see it as a way to make people happy.

RE: Gaming Restaurant Concept Survey - T. L-Drago 9207 - Jun. 25, 2012

I have a quick suggestion; when you do get games for your would-be restaurant, you should totally get a Bey Ta NiGo arcade machine!

RE: Gaming Restaurant Concept Survey - sarabscientist - Jun. 25, 2012

Hm, I took that survey. Nice concept, haha. I'd like to see it happen soon! Goodluck!

On another note, shouldn't this be moved in the Video Games section?

RE: Gaming Restaurant Concept Survey - T. L-Drago 9207 - Jul. 01, 2012

I have a couple of ideas for fun-facts to put on the menu:
1. "Did you know that that N64DD was originally to use Zip Disks?"
2. "Here's a little something you might find interesting: The Neo-Geo was the first video game system to use Memory Cards!"

RE: Gaming Restaurant Concept Survey - Trainer Red - Jul. 12, 2012

OH MY HOSH!!! you should have a Dj playing dubstep, house, and modern music with a giant DDR looking like dancefloor too! Also how big will this get once done? Nice idea too!

RE: Gaming Restaurant Concept Survey - TakasuMouce - Jul. 12, 2012

Took the survey, and I am very interested.
@Trainer Red: Remember, if this becomes a real restaurant, there will be a budget, so I don't think they can afford so much add-ons, or atleast for the time being where they are just starting. When the restaurant is more famous and has good business, then maybe that would be the time to add in the extra things. Keep in note the costs of arcade machines are usually over $1000.
