UK Summer Meet - Rocky - May. 03, 2009

Right, opened a new thread as the other thread was hella long and spammy and not even about the same thing really.

At the moment I think most people like the idea of a complete reschedule. This basically means a whole new tourney - new place, new time, etc. W can keep it called Spinoff but I dunno, that may be a little depressing. It depends whether people view this as a new tourney or a relocation. But if people want to give it a different name then feel free to suggest any! I'll put the names here for people to see.

Anyways, at the moment we are trying to work out some possible dates. We need to see when people are available or unavailable.

We also need a location. At the moment the top contenders are Hyde Park, St. James Park, Regents Park, etc. If anyone has any preferences or suggestions in those parks or anywhere else (in Central London) for that matter then post them here. Grin

As before, the format will be MFB and freebattles. Possibly a plastic or HMS tourney too but that's doubtful.

If you wanna buy a beyblade and aren't sure how, check out the Beymarketplace Forum. It's very helpful. If you're still stuck, PM me. There's a possibility that you might be able to borrow some or maybe buy one their.

Anyways, here's some importantish stuffs taken from the previous thread:

Rocky Wrote:Okay okay, let's turn those frowns upside-down. We've gotta move on from this. No use dwelling on how we all kinda screwed up, we've gotta move on to planning even more amazing stuffs. And uh, plan them well this time.

As I see it we now have two choices. Either relocate for the day or reschedule completely. Both have their pros and cons so let's have a look at them shall we?

Relocating would be simpler for the people who were only coming to the Expo for the Spinoff and possibly people that had already made travel arrangements. However, for the people that intended to go to the Expo anyways, this would be awkward as they wouldn't be able to make it. I for one would still be going to the Expo so this isn't my favoured choice but if it turns out that this is the option easiest for the majority of UK bladers then we'll go with that.

Rescheduling would mean we could have the whole thing a little later. This may give people the chance to calm down. We'd have complete choice of when and where to hold it and if we scheduled it later we could stop stressing over whether we're all gonna have Metal Faces and RFs and stuff in time. Plus some of the people that couldn't come to the Exop may possibly be able to make this one....

And then a pro for both of them, you no longer have to be worried about being attacked by crazed otaku. (unless you include me )

So we need to decide whether to relocate or reschedule. And then we need to decide on a place (there's a lot of scope for this in London so don't worry about that too much). And if we decide to reschedule we need to find when people are free. I think the main options for that are:

- the week following the Expo as school aged peoples will be on half term (could be awkward for workers though)
- the summer holidays
- the weekends and any bank holidays leading up to the summer holidays

Right, get thinking about it then. We're all in this together now. Also, I don't wanna see anyone trying to spread the blame on this thing. There are a load of things that were poorly done but as UK members we're all partly responsible. Plus despite the outcome, people were working really hard towards this and getting pretty stressed out. And even though it didn't work in the end, it got us one step closer right? Now we're serious about having an event and we've gone and bought beyblades and such and I dunno how quickly that would've happened before. So if anything, you should thank them. Because being all negative is no fun.

Oh and one more thing, we were hoping Spinoff would be pretty big but we haven't even seen each other before. This is the very first UK event so why don't we make it more like a meet and greet tourney? Take it relaxed, we could have lunch beforehand or something I dunno. But uh, let's leave that side till later. ^^;

Now, how do you guys wanna do this?

Brad Wrote:If someone bought tickets but now doesn't want to attend, PM me and I'll see if I can get you a refund.

Rocky Wrote:Well, it seems that you would like to reschedule completely which is easier for me in any case but we should still keep the possibility of relocating open.

It might be a bit early for this but here's a list of all the dates up until like Septemberish. Which ones can everyone make? I guess it'd be nice if we could sort a few possible dates so people can avoid double booking. Also, I tried to filter in any dates when people may be free because it's easier on my brain but obviously not everyone will be free every day. I break up before younger kids do. I don't even know if people who are working ever get holiday but they should be free on the weekends. Etc, etc.

I dunno when people go back to school. We probably have a week at the beginning before then.

Rocky Wrote:Does anyone particular fave locations they want to go to. A lot of people are saying Hyde Park. St. James' Park also springs to mind but seriously, there are loads. It would be good if we coud find somewhere that had a flat surface so probably a concreted area and that was a little to one side but no totally secluded. And some flowers and such would be nice (unless people have hayfever?). And a bench. Think places similiar to where they hold the New York tourneys.

RE: UK Summer Meet - Ash - May. 03, 2009

Ok, so discuss here. I was thinking that Leicester Square could be a high priority :\

RE: UK Summer Meet - Rocky - May. 03, 2009

Oh and I forgot to say FOR THE LOVE OF GOD NO SPAM.

I don't wanna see any posts that just say how excited you are or that you can't get a blade in time.

Only post suggestions, questions, ideas, etc.

If you have a problem getting there or something then you can post that here and I'll PM you or something. We don't need a whole conversation about it here.

RE: UK Summer Meet - cutewolfsam - May. 03, 2009

No , i don't think we can do it at Leicester Square because it will be fairly busy there and our Blades may get stolen.
I think Hyde Park should be because it has a very large grass area with places to sit and eat and well it's mainly a flat surface.
Hope this helps.

RE: UK Summer Meet - Neeek - May. 03, 2009

I like the idea of Hyde park, i'm not acustom to London but i've heard it's not far from the centre. If I attend it will most likely be in the Summer holidays.

RE: UK Summer Meet - Ash - May. 03, 2009

Hyde Park is about 8 Miles away from the Expo.

So if it was to be held at Hyde Park, how are we going to find out where to meet in the park? Its a massive park.

RE: UK Summer Meet - fragbait - May. 03, 2009

Find a landmark?

RE: UK Summer Meet - Rocky - May. 03, 2009

^^ The Excel Centre is not in Central London though. Also, this is more the location for a rescheduled tourney on a different day seeing as most people seem to prefer that. It doesn't need to be close to the Excel Centre.

We have two options:
- We decide where to meet in the park beforehand and I'll draw a map for you.
- We meet at the entrance (or at a café or something) and then walk to a certain point together. It could be a point we'd already decided on or it could be a random pont that we decide on when we get there.

RE: UK Summer Meet - cutewolfsam - May. 03, 2009

Rocky there is loads of entrances to Hyde Park , why not on the outside of the excel entance it would make life simplier.

But the excel centre is nowhere near Hyde park so what would be the point.

Since I don't know Hyde park I think it would be easier to meet at an enterance rather than inside.

RE: UK Summer Meet - Ash - May. 03, 2009

I think we should pin-point it on a map.

This map. http://www.royalparks.org.uk/docs/park_maps/hyde_map.pdf

We could play near a drinking fountain? Oh and there is quite alot of squirrels running around (Well I think because it was christmas eve they were hunting for hybernation food)

RE: UK Summer Meet - Zander Soulwind - May. 03, 2009

OK, I had not seen the park before but I can sure say that it is Carping huge. I think we should be somewhere near some toilets, just incase someone needs them, like me. The best place I can see MarlBorough gate station.

RE: UK Summer Meet - OiObss - May. 03, 2009

I agree with cutewolfsam because like it's still at the Exel and people might have dropped out like my mates at school they said they want to come only if it's only at or near the expo.

RE: UK Summer Meet - Rocky - May. 03, 2009

Sorry but it seems that we cannot host a tourney at or near the Excel or they'll chuck us out. I don't really wanna take the risk.......it is a shame but there's not much we can do. Just make us sound awesome enough that they don't mind going somewhere else. XD

Too bad for your friends, then; they never really wanted to come in the first place.

RE: UK Summer Meet - Deikailo - May. 03, 2009

I'm not certain if theINtoy operates like ToysnJoys and Toywiz where they have a physical location as well as an online store, but perhaps if they do, they might be able to host a Tournament. They already support us, and holding a tournament would mean gaining sales off of players who want extra MFB.

Their address says Liverpool. I have no clue where everyone is, or if that's even their store, however, it's worth an inquiry. Even if they don't have a real physical store, they might have some ideas for this.

RE: UK Summer Meet - Rocky - May. 03, 2009

Ahaha, Liverpool is a city, up North. XD I don't think theintoy had a shop but I guess I can look into that. ^^;

RE: UK Summer Meet - Neeek - May. 03, 2009

Liverpool's right near me so it would be to far for everyone.

All I know is that's where the Beatles came from. Lips_sealed
*dumb to geography*

Anubis and I were throwing around the idea of battling in China Town of NYC. Maybe you can do a "spinoff" of my idea what with introducing a local toy store to MFB in an area like China Town, where they have the resources to import and the clientele to buy. After they have them in stock, they could hold a tournament on the weekend or something to promote their new items.

RE: UK Summer Meet - Rocky - May. 03, 2009

The Oribtal people are nice but they have very little room......Japan Toys would have been great if they hadn't carping moved their shop down a floor. I have the feeling Forbidden Planet wouldn't be too thrilled plus they'd have to move a lot of merch to make room......hmm........

I'd still ask all of them about this, regardless of room. They might have another solution to this. If anything, they may be able to point you in the right direction.

We could always try and get Tokyo Toys. If we sent them an email saying it's the biggest new franchise they may start selling then and agree to host the tournaments/meetups. I have no idea if they will because they're a big company.

Edit: Ahh, never mind. Smile

RE: UK Summer Meet - Rocky - May. 03, 2009

^ Aha, that's who I meant when I said Japan Toys. Stupid brain.

RE: UK Summer Meet - Starwulfen - May. 04, 2009

To add my thoughts to this, I'd love to come and join you guys, just so long as I have enough warning to be able to book train tickets before they get too expensive Joyful_3

RE: UK Summer Meet - Neeek - May. 04, 2009
