“I said give me my money, kid,” I’m infuriated and itching to punch this kid straight into a coma. The nerve of that kid, to take my rightfully earned money and lie about it. Okay, so what, who cares if I stole the money in the first place? It’s still mine.

He stands with another friend, both of them scared to death. The one in the middle, who’s stolen my money, is sweating like crazy. Gangly blond hair is plastered to his face, and he looks like he’s going to burst out in tears. His friend is trembling like an earthquake, backing away every second. The gray skies and seemingly endless clouds continue to loom above us.

“I-I told you, we d-didn’t take anything!” the blond one tries to say, but he’s stuttering like a baby that’s just learned to speak. I flex my knuckles. No one lies dead in my face.

“Heh, don’t worry; this’ll be over soon,” I say coolly. “Then you’ll give me my $150 back.” That’s right, $150. 150 damn dollars. And he has the nerve.

He backs up, crying now. Damn kids. I rush over and grab him by the collar of his shirt.

“I-I was framed! T-the guy w-who blamed us… h-he’s got your m-money!” he says, tears running down his face and onto his navy blue north face hoodie.

“Yeah, like Snips would take my money,” I mumble angrily. Snips is my friend. My main man. My partner in crime. No way he’d do that.

I throw a punch, aiming for his face. My nostrils are flaring and I’m ready to lose control. A grin forms upon my lips after I see the blood trickling down his nose. His friend gasps heavily. A dialing noise and a slurred voice proceeds.

“P-please… it was a s-set up…” the one in my grip says. I scavenge through his jacket pockets, but there’s nothing. No money. Only a bus card, a paperclip, and lint. Where’s my money? I’m fuming, and I can feel steam blowing out of my nostrils.

“Look kid, you owe me my damn-” I try to say, but I’m interrupted by a faint, shaky voice.

“The cops are coming…” he pants. “I called the cops…” he says, a small hint of confidence in his voice. My eyes widen at the realization. No… no… I couldn’t go back… no…

“Dammit… dammit… dammit!” I yell out in a flurry of rage. My grip on the kid loosens, and I hear the thump of his nearly unconscious body against the concrete. I kick my feet at the ground furiously. My hands are on the verge of bleeding because I’ve been squeezing them so hard; my nails have dug into my skin.

Run, I can hear deep in my thoughts; my conscience. My criminal instincts are kicking in.

I bolt down the street, dust and trash kicking behind my worn down sneakers. A police siren stars to ring in my ear as I continue to run. Blood is still running down my palms and dripping on the floor.

My money’s escaped me. Those damn kids, too.

A white car with blue and red sirens drives by in an instant. I lock eyes with the policeman sitting in the front seat for just a second. I don’t think he notices the panic and anger in my eyes. And for a moment, the only thing I can hear is the siren, and the pitter-patter of my blood.

David sat with his back pressed up against the stone cold outer wall of the Hanochi Research Labs, his stringy black hair plastered against his forehead. His right hand was white as he clutched the vile of liquid Regen, or the Liquor of Life. He heard the whine of alarms sirens and warning messages behind broadcasted over the loudspeaker, reaching every inch of the hell that had been his home for over a year. All that time, he had been collecting DNA for this very night. Tonight he makes his escape, and history. David shrunk as he felt the spotlight pass over where he was hiding, even though he knew they should not be able to see him. As soon as the light was away he made his move. His legs pumped, fueled by adrenaline and fear he sprinted over to the outer fence of the laboratories and into the C block, the last block before freedom.
C block was the animal testing block, here the demon's of the labs experimented with the poor and helpless creatures that they caught out on their weekly patrols. David has seen some of the monstrosities that had emerged from there, they were the lucky ones. Most did not come out at all. For the third time that day, he swore that he would do anything in his power to shut this place down. David swung his leg over the fence and leapt of, landing with a thud on the ground. He felt his legs jar as he landed. If he ever got out of this, he would need serious physiotherapy. As he ran around the corner of one of the buildings, he skidded to a stop as he saw one of the guards patrolling on the next street. David swore and turned around, backtracking. This was going to add a minute too his plan, and that minute could be fatal. He darted around a building two turns past where he had saw the soldier, his breathing heavy in the night air. A large box fell near him, his head instinctively turned to face it. That was a grave mistake. As his head turned he could not see where he was running and the ID bracelet he was wearing got caught on a protruding spike of metal from the building. He hears the echo of his death sound as if it were in slow motion. The bracelet ripped and the little red indicator in it flashed once more, before it died. Now David swore really loudly. That ID bracelet was used to identify all prisoners and employees. If it was ever ripped, it would send an emergency distress call to main base with its location and it's owners name. They knew where he was. Sure enough a second later a call sounded over the speaker.
"All units to Block C, sector 17 sub sector 3. I repeat; all units to Block C, sector 17 sub sector 3". David hears footsteps running toward him, and shouts of the soldiers as the saw him. Now David swore the loudest he had ever sworn before, and ran at his only escape route, the far fence. If he could set up a signal disrupter he could teleport safely out of here. Hopefully. He readied the locators and as he reached the fence threw them. They clamped onto the fence and started beeping, hacking a secure network that could be used for matter transmission. A soldier yelled and jumped from a building only about ten meters away. He has a Mark-17 Gantera, Rapid Edition Semi-Automatic pistol by the looks, and it was aimed at David's head. As the trigger was pulled he felt the bullets leave the barrel, traveling at speeds of over 9000 mph. Not fast enough to escape David's senses though. That was the one thing that this place had done for him, and one thing only. In a split second David had moved out of the path of the bullet and was racing towards the man. His fist collided with the man’s stomach while his hand grabbed the gun from his. He swung around and shot a single bullet at a window, hearing a sharp yelp of the soldier who had been hiding there. Three more soldiers came running around the corner; three more men who would not see their families ever again. Sam ignored their moans of pain as he heard the signal disrupter beep in success. David was now running full pelt toward the machines. He stopped in front of them in a cloud of dirt and gravel, already typing in the coordinated for his destination. He heard the sound of firearms coming from behind him. The portal opened and David jumped through, as a bullet tore through his leg, ripping apart the flesh. In pain David let go of the vile of Liquid Regen, watching as it spiraled out into the vortex, possibly anywhere. That was all he knew, before he faded into blackness...
