Must also add this, they Say that the world is suppose to end on 2012 so in that case, all of use wouldn't even live to 100 years, I won't even be 25 years old.

Edit: I don't believe it will end though.

Lots of people SAY lots of things to be honest.

Remember they said that generator thing would make black holes and kill us all? -.-

Every year they say the world will end next year for some reason or other. Speechless

Like I said, I don't believe it.

Would anyone else like to try to do what I tried doing?

I'm inclined to believe death was more or less discovered rather than invented.

It's a marketing scam for impulse buyers.

(Apr. 01, 2009  9:54 PM)Zander Wrote: Sorry but I could give it a shot.

If I had to say then let me talk about dinosaurs and animals from way back when, because they always attack each other, weather it is for meat or to protect something they would always rip each other apart so all their insides would be hanging out and blood forever splattering everywhere and they never die no matter what so even if they are eaten then they would still be alive as pieces. Also they would forever have to go through the pain. Also, even if there wasn't such a thing a hunger there would still be the protecting or trying to fight for leadership or to see who is better so it would never end and dinosaurs would still be alive so think about a hell of a time we would be having forever.

Moving on to something else, if we never died but life was to still happen then the world would be over crowded and we would be destroying the world because that wouldn't be classed as it diing, just blowing up or drying out completely. Then if the world was gone and we were all stuck in space and can't breathe then we will suffer forever until we go through the overwelming pain of dropping through the atmosfer and crashing on a planet with all our bones broken and the planet might not even have oxegen so we would still be suffering there.

And the last part, even if space is endless, if there is no death then life is endless as well which means there would be no room for anyone anywhere.

Is that good enough for you? Personally I think what I just said is a load of carp and I should get out of this thread.

Um no I meant for trying to increase peoples life span to something stupid like 1000 years.

RE: "First person to live to 1000 years is alive today!" - Synesthesia - Apr. 02, 2009

Or maybe living that long would be a benefit from dealing with the aging process as a whole, along with age related diseases.

RE: "First person to live to 1000 years is alive today!" - Deikailo - Apr. 02, 2009

Honestly, I don't understand why you guys are quarreling. We could be doing something that's actually worthwhile, like finding a cure for cancer or advancing ourselves in the medical field so that we may live a few hundred years. Then, in our free decades, do something important like discuss our recent medical advancements and reflect on the possibilities of what's to come. Or point out the obvious with subtle sarcasm.

RE: "First person to live to 1000 years is alive today!" - Synesthesia - Apr. 02, 2009

That's pretty much what this thread was suppose to be about. Instead it became about the possible ramifications of human beings living too long.

Alzheimer's happens to be an age related disease that could possibly be done away with through this kind of research.

Actually it is, if you don't like the idea of dying at all

(I could be described as one of those crazy people that you find in the movies chasing immortality to avoid ever dying)

There are studies that have shown a way to prevent alzheimer's from progressing, or even getting it in the first place. Although I don't think I should post a link to the studies, because it could break the rules.

PM me if your interested.

I can't find the original article I found that linked to the actual study, but here's one a quick google search brought up.

Hahaha sorry I had to bring it up. This subject is very dear to me, my grandfather was just diagnosed with alzheimer's. He has been an carp to me for my whole life, until now. He forgets my name a lot, but he's a lot nicer. I just wish I could talk him into trying this; but he's to straight edged for it. He's done it without his knowledge once, when my mom was 22 and gave it to him in secret. This is the main reason I push legalization.

I'll quit speaking on this matter now, and please delete this post if it violates the rules at all; I meant no harm.

PS Your comment in bold cracked me up

I hope this never comes to fruition. Life wouldn't be bearable for a thousand years, I'd commit suicide before then.
One-thousand years?
I want to die at 30. To live as long as possable, is utter hell.
If you think, it is complete and utter hell.
If the world comes to this, I will single-handly destroy what ever does this.
Do you all have no religion? Do you have no morals, no religion needed.
I mean common sense is that living over 70 is just sad. You stay in constant pain and sadness. I mean seriously, pain is worse then death, so stop torturing yourself, and realize. Dying is fun, and cool. It's just not nice at an early age, or by your hand. If you numb-skulls would think about this, for 10 mnitues without doing anything else, you'd realize. Do you want to see your great-great-grandchild? See how scared they are of how hideous you've become, how they grow up to petition against you, and eventually have you killed? No. No.

RE: "First person to live to 1000 years is alive today!" - Rocky - Apr. 10, 2009

Whilst I understand what you're getting at, it's a little cringy and some of it, just not true.
Dying is not fun or cool. Anyone who thinks that deserves a slap.
And although it is not fun to be in pain, immobile, etc., I know many older people who are reasonably independent and enjoy their lives.
Plus, if we had a life span of 1000, I imagine the proportions of independence, etc, would be similiar. Like how a dog lives for a shorter life span but still experiences puppydom, old age, etc. Also, I don't see why religion has anything to do with it.

Please do not single-handedly destroy the world. Unhappy

....What? I'm sorry, I don't follow. Just a few points from what I could salvage:
  • Centuries ago, the age of 30 was unheard of
  • I think "whatever does this" is much larger than you to destroy
  • Who mentioned pain with age? Are you that much of a downer that you can't appreciate life?
  • Yes, I'd love to see my great-great-grandchild. I'll teach him/her all about Beyblades
  • Dying is fun, eh? Let's sit you in the middle east for a little while. Grin
  • An intelligent discussion about extended life makes the participants numb-skulls? Speechless Talk about being dense..
  • You ought to actually READ the topic before making judgments.
