SAVE the gaming community, bill S978 - sasuke41915 - Jul. 06, 2011 as i stated in the top bill S978 will shut down the online gaming community we need to help by liking this vid. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i2lP1yuJgfM&feature=topvideos_mf RE: SAVE the gaming community, bill S978 - Dude - Jul. 07, 2011 ...Online gaming community? What are you talking about? What bill? How will liking a video fix it? RE: SAVE the gaming community, bill S978 - Raigeko13 - Jul. 07, 2011 Dude, here's a quick little explanation about the bill. tl;dr The US government wants to stop internet streaming of Movies/Games/Things on the internet, unless you actually DO have written consent from the companies. Also IIRC, we aren't supposed to discuss politics here. RE: SAVE the gaming community, bill S978 - Dude - Jul. 07, 2011 Hah. Yeah, that'll never pass. Ever heard of 'Fair Use of Copyrighted Material'? Besides, the USA doesn't control the world or Internet, so Americans could just host their english websites on say Japanese servers and be totally immune to such a stupid law. Don't they have better things to do, right now, anyway? Isn't the economy in the toilet? RE: SAVE the gaming community, bill S978 - Temporal - Jul. 07, 2011 Sadly, it is. Just goes to show... I'm movin' to Canada. But this bill can pass, for one reason and one reason only. I have seen not ONE politician that gives a care. They could care less about the community, they don't watch the stuff. But there's a key point: You cannot be arrested unless a certain producer/developer WISHES TO PRESS CHARGES. And who's gonna press charges against some guy who's basically ADVERTISING your game? That's just dumb. So really, it doesn't matter anyway. (Of course, the reviews are out the window if you call a game bad...) Some BS like that, which they can't touch, leaving this bill useless. This is how so many people get away with selling merchandise in Union Square in New York because they just call these small modifications "art". Problem solved. GJ America. Touching up on the politics bit, this is a law, which last I checked can be discussed on the boards. The rule against discussing Religion, politics, and sports (if sports is there, I'm not sure) is to prevent arguments that can never be won and will exist only to piss people off. RE: SAVE the gaming community, bill S978 - sasuke41915 - Jul. 08, 2011 uh guys why are you mad at me i have nothing to do with it . please stop being mad at me RE: SAVE the gaming community, bill S978 - Serotonin - Jul. 08, 2011 i am absolutely sure liking a youtube video by user "TheGUNNShop" will have a veritable effect on the debatable actions of us politicians dumb thread |
