Earthbound / MOTHER series - MOTHER - Jun. 15, 2011
I couldn't find a thread on all the games in the MOTHER series, so I decided to make one. What do you guys think of it? How were you introduced to it. Me? I first heard about it on Wikipedia, but shoved it aside and never looked at it until a few months ago. Right now I am playing MOTHER 1 / Earthbound Zero! So, get your chatter on and talk about Earthbound!

I was introduced to it after seeing that a let's player that I followed on YouTube (NintendoCapriSun) had done a let's play. I only saw his Mother 3 one, and that's the only one I've ever played. It has a nice deep storyline and nice sprites. And most of all, it has some of the best music tracks I've ever seen in a video game.

Same, I LOVE the soundtrack. I plan to buy the MOTHER 3 Soundtrack on ITunes. (Ps- I do sub to NCS too!

I love this. I have never played one how are u guys playing these? I wish they actually made Earthbound 64

Either buy them or emulate. (But i hope you buy, that way u support them, but for MOTHER 1 english, emulate I guess.

Sadly, the only way to get an english copy of Mother 3 is an emulator. The patch which makes it in English is an official one, though.
And Hytyjin, I have seen Chuggaaconroy's LP of Mother 3.
Also, do you guys know about the Mother 4 project? It's an unofficial Mother game, and the link to their site can be found here: http://mother4.andonuts.net/

Yes, I talked a staff member for it! It seems very well made! Go to Starmen.net to get patches for MOTHER 3.

YEAH! Most MOTHER 2's are about 100-200 on the web, and that's used.

Was playing through Mother 3 before I gave it to my girlfriend who completed it. We both agree that this is one of the best games either of us have ever played.
I haven't completed this yet, so will duck out of this thread to avoid spoilers, haha.

Haha! I haven't even played MOTHER 3 yet, so same for me guys! AND MOTHER 2, I'm not done with it!AND MOTHER 1, STILL NOT DONE!! Lol, no spoils for me! (Even though I already know most of them.....T.T)

Mother 3 is probably the saddest game in the whole series. It's so tear jerking from beginning to end ;(

I found out about this series when I first saw Ness on Super Smash Bros. But I never really knew what series he was from until the past few years. I never got around to playing these games though. I kinda want them to make a new one, since it would be easily and cheaply obtainable, (At least it would be compared to the other games) but it probably wouldn't happen on Wii. It would probably be Wii U, or 3DS.

I need to hurry up and finish the first game! I'm still in Magicant with the nerdy kid! (I named him ATARI) I can't wait to play MOTHER 3, I don't know ANYTHING about the story yet.

MOTHER 1 was already translated and ready to go in the US, but since it was going to be killed by the SNES not long after it was going to be released, they pulled it.

I ve played Earth bound but never finished and also isnt Mother 1 Illegal 2 both emulate and buy the game ?

No. If you buy it, you can emulate it. As long as you own the game, emulation isn't illegal. (Of course, making a ROM is, so ideally, there is no way to do so in the first place. Hence why I bought the games, except off of someone who had already finished.)
