Help Me Name My Gaming Company!! - Aikemi - Jun. 14, 2011

Hey everyone.

Since my leave from the site (a year or so ago?), I haven't been twiddling my thumbs; I've been developing my own gaming company. As a matter of fact, the Vice President of it is Pichuscute, an old veteran member some of you might remember.

Right now we're going under the codename Volare Games until our debut. We've held some hush-hush conferences allowing people to preview our games and they all seem really excited Smile

One of the names we tossed around was IgniteUs Games, but I'd love to hear the input of all of you as well. As I remember, there are a lot of creative minds on this board, and I can't wait to hear what you all may come up with!

Wishing you all the best,
Frank

It's nice to see you and Pichuscute doing something after the thread. I like the name Volare, it seems one of a kind, and can definitely stand out to the public. Keep the codename, and see where it goes, is my opinion.

Probably not use the word "games" or anything similar to avoid being/seeming generic?

example: bungie

RE: Help Me Name My Gaming Company!! - Temporal - Jun. 14, 2011

Volare Productions? Volare Entertainment? Volare Intellectual Properties?

To avoid having this topic be a spam topic, you might want to describe more of who you are as a company rather than your name. Without even a concept, it is hard to give you a name to accurately represent your product.

Yeah...

What kind of games do you make? RPG's, Shooters, Etc? That could help.

Btw, which consoles do you plan to put games on?

RE: Help Me Name My Gaming Company!! - Dude - Jun. 15, 2011

I think IgniteUs sounds great, but what do I know...

How about... Proficere Entreprises? Means 'Progress', in Latin.

What? If a billion-dollar company is just named Apple, just one word could work XD

how bout the brotherhood

RE: Help Me Name My Gaming Company!! - Dude - Jun. 15, 2011

It's a game company, not an underground cult trying to summon Cthulhu and Dagon...

C'mon, guys, this is pretty simple. A good company name needs to be short, have a nice vibe to it and catchy.

That's why you don't see too many companies named "Trioblax Deus Ex Industries" or something.

RE: Help Me Name My Gaming Company!! - Hytyjin - Jun. 15, 2011

now that i think about it does sound like a satanist group hehe
how bout vonking

RE: Help Me Name My Gaming Company!! - bugturtles - Jun. 15, 2011

Look into mythology, and see if that inspires you.

A lot of mythological stories/creatures/heroes/villains are referenced in a group, team, company or even product.

Example: MFB's Quetzalcoatl (mythological bird creature)

Also the company's name and identity will more than likely determine the logo. Having a synergetic logo and company name is definitely important. If your company's name is something like "IRIS" with a fish or insect as its logo, they do not connect.

Prestige worldwide lol jk how about Gameous or entergament wait no imperial games

RE: Help Me Name My Gaming Company!! - Temporal - Jun. 15, 2011

I was reading a Stephen Hawking book, and I saw that he often references wormholes and the such in his theories, or his explanations of previous theories. So...I came up with the name Wormhole or Vortex Entertainment. Sounds catchy, it's simple enough, and simply draw a black hole for the logo. (I was going to use it for Reflux Fiction, but Vortex Fiction doesn't sound as good, and I was pretty sure that Wormhole Written Productions was already taken) Anyway, it sounds decent, but it could be better. I'll try again, and update if I think of anything. Just my thoughts.

Call it "Over 9000".

By naming it after a meme, people will immediately think it is somewhat relevant to them because they can identify with the meme. They will feel compelled to check it out from sheer curiosity and then your product will speak for itself from there.

Why do something that's already done before? So many people have one or two word names that sound epic, but they are not entirely stimulating past sounding cool. As a consumer, I am far more fascinated with something that sounds outlandish because I am too busy wondering "why the hell would they name it this?"

RE: Help Me Name My Gaming Company!! - Temporal - Jun. 15, 2011

Over 9,000! Productions. Just...wow. I couldn't think of that. "New, from Over 9,000 Produictions! ...game announcement... end of commercial. 'It's over 9,000!'" I really can see that being interesting, and I would probably end up buying a game just for the name.

RE: Help Me Name My Gaming Company!! - Raigeko13 - Jun. 15, 2011

Oh god yes, Over 9000. I would definitely buy from someone that is named that! Eee that would catch the eyes of people who range from around the age of 13 up until maybe (mid?) twenties, because we use the internet more often, and MOST of us have seen it. But that just seems a little out of the way IMO, haha. Still a very good suggestion though Deikailo.

The motto might as well be "So i herd u liek me" then...

But I think (if you're doing shooting games and that kind of thing, like Bey-Heart said, it would help to know.) Crosshair Industries sounds cool.

That "meme" is so old though, everybody is just annoyed by it by now. Only immature kids still use it ...

In that sense, seek a name that is not ephemeral.

If you use a meme as a title, no matter what you do it's going to be played out at some point. Like I said, it's more to grab someone's attention with the point of "omg, why would they name a company that?" and from there, the product can be demoed from curiosity. Since everyone knows about it, more people should be curious as to what it is about.

It doesn't even have to be "over 9000". Any running nerd joke would work.

RE: Help Me Name My Gaming Company!! - Ga' - Jun. 15, 2011

Ahaha, so then I guess Falcon Industries would be good? With the logo being a stylized Falcon Punch from the F?

RE: Help Me Name My Gaming Company!! - DynaZord - Jun. 15, 2011

Maximum Vox Corporation
Explanation:
Maximum is the latin word for maximum, heh.
Vox is one of the many latin words for power.
Maximum Vox is a heck of a lot more catchy than Maximum Power.
