Castle in the Sky - Roan - Jan. 21, 2011
Just another piece of writing by yours truly.
"Castle in the Sky"
They're standing on the outside looking in
With their hands and faces pressed against the glass
Reading much too far into our loving grins
And waiting for this all to simply pass
Picking at the bricks with which we've slowly built
The foundation of our blossoming love
Seeking only to pull at the strings of guilt
So that everything comes raining from above
We'll keep climbing up higher and higher
Toward the end of the spiral staircase
Running from the rapidly spreading fire
They've set which threatens to take leather from lace
They say that they don't want to see me hurt
With looks of honest concern in their eyes
Yet with their words and actions so overt
It comes across as nothing more than lies
So you and I must simply continue to build
Brick by brick, with absolutely no regard
Until they see at last our hearts are filled
And their blessing will be our warm reward
But before that day comes when we are able
To descend from our castle in the sky
I won't stop forging ahead with our fable
Until they are as happy as you and I

You have quite a talent for this. I'm really good for fiction only... You seem to have never-ending creativity.

Thank you.
It took about an hour, give or take. That's typically how I write. I'll get a burst of inspiration, or something will happen, and I hammer it out in thirty minutes to an hour.

awesome! when i hear castle in the sky, I think maximillion pegasus's card, Castle of Illusions. at least, I think it's called that... I haven't been keeping up with the cards he uses...

Well, this one only has a little mention of fire and it's figurative, not a literal example of fire.
