RE: Questions about the WBO - ThaKingTai - Jun. 29, 2016 Has the WBO ever been approached by either Hasbro or Takara Tomy about being the official fansite for Beyblade? Also, are there any benefits that the Committee likes that they would not have if the site was official? Like what pros and cons would they look at if either of the companies decided to approach the World Beyblade Organization? And what are your personal opinions and feelings toward it? Would you guys be down for being the official fansite, or do you believe it is overall better to be unofficial? RE: Questions about the WBO - Kai-V - Jun. 29, 2016 (Jun. 29, 2016 9:50 PM)ThaKingTai Wrote: Has the WBO ever been approached by either Hasbro or Takara Tomy about being the official fansite for Beyblade? You have good questions hah. There have been one or two people with usernames hinting at being Hasbro representative, and we had close contacts with Nelvana and they provided prizes for some of our events such as our Anime North 2015 and/or 2014 tournaments. Other than that though, nobody ever made a move to approach us officially or outside of random donations. Only Rising Star Games, the company behind the BEYBLADE: Evolution 3DS video game, actually contacted us, became familiar with us and made us the official message board to discuss the game. To this day, if the site still exists, it still links to our now closed BEYBLADE: Evolution forum. I know that for sure it would mean way more activity, more Members, more tournaments goers, etc. if we were promoted as the official Beyblade fansite. However, I also understand and respect that the official companies want to stay away from potential legal issues that leaving tournaments up to third parties would entail. They would be responsible legally if there was ever any issue at our events. For instance, a kid during one of our Toywiz collaboration events in the United States was so upset at losing that he apparently ran in the street to almost get hit by a car. This would have been a disaster for everybody and I know that it certainly made Toywiz very uneasy about this whole collaboration from that point on. Therefore, the maximum, best-case scenario I can see happening is Hasbro simply listing as many fansites as possible and almost placing a disclaimer right next to those links that they are not responsible for any of these. If you think about it though, we would inevitably lose a lot of freedom. Not only would Hasbro directly or indirectly be responsible for SPAM, profanity and any other inappropriate content that could get posted and not removed within two minutes, but there could also be a lot of information that could not be revealed anymore, when we sometimes get leaks, because they would be hand in hand with TAKARA-TOMY as well and clearly the latter is unhappy whenever leaks happen. On top of that, it would be awkward to allow Hasbro flames as well hah. Tournament-wise, that would probably be where it would be the most catastrophic. We would not be able to continue enforcing a ban on Hasbro stadiums even though they are terrible for some types of Beyblades so far, we might be asked to ban parts and Beyblades that were not released worldwide, only in Japan, formats like Round Robin may be switched to Double Elimination and Single Elimination most of the time, etc. All in all, it is a twisted relationship: we both need each other and would love for a proper relationship to be created, but we also know that it cannot necessarily happen if we consider everybody's good hah. (We were never ever approached by TAKARA-TOMY but apparently they know about us.) RE: Questions about the WBO - ThaKingTai - Jun. 29, 2016 Wow, there are a lot of things that I never considered that you brought up. I was just going over it in my mind because I know that with backing from Hasbro/Takara Tomy, the site could be more active and have better funding. But, there are a ton of cons that I never thought of. Thank you, Kai-V! So essentially, without Beyblade, the WBO obviously wouldn't exist. But, without this site, Beyblade wouldn't have been revitalized the way that it was when MFB launched and then Burst? RE: Questions about the WBO - Kai-V - Jun. 29, 2016 Exactly. Not only did we keep it alive during the hiatus before Metal Fight Beyblade, but even when series are active, Hasbro is unable to provide enough organized play to feed fans' needs, so we are there to keep them more entertained, advise them on what to buy to be more competitive, have something to look forward to, etc. RE: Questions about the WBO - ThaKingTai - Jun. 29, 2016 (Jun. 29, 2016 10:34 PM)Kai-V Wrote: Exactly. I really wish that we could be better funded because the Committee really does all that it can to make this entire organization the best it can be. I just wish that we could be the official site and reap all of the benefits, but still have the freedom that we have now. In the case that we ever do become the official site, (a crazy stretch, but nothing is impossible, lol) would you need to add more moderators for each area? What else do you think would need to be done immediately? RE: Questions about the WBO - Kai-V - Jun. 30, 2016 Eh definitely way more staff, but to be honest it is so unlikely that it would happen that I did not prepare for this eventuality hah. While we would need to do more, there are also some areas in which we would suddenly need to do a lot less, like promotion via Promo Cards, looking for prizes, etc. so it would perhaps level out in the end, hopefully hah. At least we can already count on some majorly generous contributions from our affiliates like Zankye. He and his father have definitely lifted some weight off our shoulders and we can never thank them enough to the length they are due. Do you find that we at least do the most that we can considering our limitations and circumstances? At the number of active Members and players that we have, are we doing enough that you would trust us to bring a proportial amount of effort or strategizing if we were to suddenly gain mass membership and official support? Yes, I do! I know for sure that you guys work as hard as possible with what you have to give the members of this site the best experience that they can have. Sometimes, things move a little slow, but then I remember that this isn't all that you do. You guys dedicate your free time, finances and energy to make Beyblade an enjoyable experience. I just want to thank you to all of you for making something that I loved as a child even more enjoyable as an adult. I know that there is a ton of stuff that you guys wish to do and I just wish that you guys had the resources to do so. Like, for example, what would need to happen for the WBO to host a World Championship of it's own? RE: Questions about the WBO - FIREFIRE CPB - Jun. 30, 2016 can Moderators can delete PMs from users? Reason I'm asking (Click to View) RE: Questions about the WBO - ~Mana~ - Jun. 30, 2016 A lot of users did, including myself. It's very likely that, with the deletion of the user, the messages were removed as well. Honestly the main issue is just funds to pay people's travel expenses as well as their hotel, and I heard that we would also need to purchase insurances for those people. We actually tried our best in 2012 or 2013 to host a world championship, but we were trying to get sponsors in on the deal but apparently our proposal either turned them down, or they just did not hesitate to ignore it. We were trying to find the money we did not have, even if we had a good portion of the budget already. And of course those sponsors would have been great to promote the event(s) more, to make sure that none of the qualifiers have only eight to ten participants, make it really worthwhile. They had sent a whopping 170 messages... RE: Questions about the WBO - Bey Brad - Jul. 01, 2016 Hey @[ThaKingTai], wanted to respond to your posts for a while and only just now got the time to do so. On the subject of whether it would be better for the WBO to become a Hasbro-sponsored and affiliated project, it's a pretty complicated situation. Hasbro's never shown any interest in our community before, so it seems incredibly unlikely that such a thing would happen anyway. But if it did ... I'm not necessarily sure it would be a better community. Sure, we would have more resources and likely be able to do more, but I think they would be likely to reign us in from attempting anything too ambitious, and things would be a lot stricter here. Beyblade.com did, at one point, have an official message board. But every post had to be approved by a moderator before it was posted, which took anything from a few hours to a few days, killing the ability to have any real conversations. We also wouldn't be able to report on leaks or other non-approved information. And of course, as Kai-V mentioned, we could be more of a liability than anything for them. I think the ideal scenario would be for Hasbro to simply donate stuff for us to use as prizes and maybe sponsor us for a small amount. You also mentioned that things can be slow, which is pretty fair. At one point, over seven years ago now, the WBO was basically my full-time job. Since I didn't have many other responsibilities, I would work day and night on the site and try to develop new ideas and features that people would like. Alas, I'm 27 now, I have a full-time job and I have chronic fatigue. That makes it a lot harder to accomplish the things that I'd like to. All I can say is that I do hope to contribute more, and to do more to make the site and our events better. RE: Questions about the WBO - FIREFIRE CPB - Jul. 04, 2016 how points winner will get and loser will lose in bey points is calculated? RE: Questions about the WBO - Kai-V - Jul. 04, 2016 (Jul. 04, 2016 1:45 AM)FIREFIRE CPB Wrote: how points winner will get and loser will lose in bey points is calculated? It is based on how many Beypoints each person has. If you win against a Blader with less than 1000 Beypoints, which is the middle line basically, then you will win less points than if you defeated a player with a lot more Beypoints than you. Also, if you win battles in a tournament with a great number of participants, you gain more Beypoints than if it was a small seven- or eight-player event. RE: Questions about the WBO - mudorios - Jul. 05, 2016 i am wondering. is it allowed to host a local get-together, blading for fun, without prizes? if so, does it have to be approved, and have to deal with passports and all that? basically, do you have to do all the tricky things to have a fun blading event if you post it on the WBO? I was wondering. RE: Questions about the WBO - Kai-V - Jul. 05, 2016 (Jul. 05, 2016 12:39 AM)mudorios Wrote: i am wondering. is it allowed to host a local get-together, blading for fun, without prizes? if so, does it have to be approved, and have to deal with passports and all that? basically, do you have to do all the tricky things to have a fun blading event if you post it on the WBO? I was wondering. If you wish to promote it on the World Beyblade Organization, then yes, we need to regulate it to make sure that even a meet-up is something we can implicitly endorse. Some Australian Members have been discussing and going to get-togethers recently though, but at least we know them since they are long-time contributors and we know that if they could, they would host a tournament. However, there are not enough active Bladers there. RE: Questions about the WBO - FIREFIRE CPB - Jul. 06, 2016 what site is this http://animemanga.worldbeyblade.org/index.php?title=Main_Page RE: Questions about the WBO - Kai-V - Jul. 06, 2016 It is the archive of the Beyblade Spirit website I used to run, transformed into a wiki. In time I will add the information onto the Beyblade Wikia articles if they are not already included there. I originally announced that it would be an official sub-site here, but absolutely nobody ever contributed or even seemed to give it any attention... https://worldbeyblade.org/Thread-Beywiki-s-7th-Anniversary RE: Questions about the WBO - ThaKingTai - Jul. 09, 2016 Thanks, Bey Brad for your answer! I know the whole community thanks you for creating this site. We appeciate the time and effort that you've but into it! How big was the influx of new bladers when Metal Fight first dropped? How big do you expect it to be when Burst drops in North America and then worldwide? Also, has there been any consideration about having gold, silver, and bronze Driver Faces for those who place in Burst tournaments? I feel like it's a good way to differentiate between whether someone placed in Burst format of in MFB. I know it may be difficult, but I just wanted to know what your thought where toward this. RE: Questions about the WBO - FIREFIRE CPB - Jul. 11, 2016 Anyone can tell me why UltimateOrion got banned? I seen his username is gray. That's a big blow. RE: Questions about the WBO - FIREFIRE CPB - Jul. 17, 2016 Is it possible to get/exchange BeyPoints for Credits? I read somewhere that we can get 2000 points with something like 100 credits but not sure. I could recalling false though :p RE: Questions about the WBO - Hato - Jul. 17, 2016 (Jul. 17, 2016 6:59 PM)FIREFIRE CPB Wrote: Is it possible to get/exchange BeyPoints for Credits?
