RE: What has happened to pokemon? - Train - Oct. 04, 2008

Personally I HATE Dawn she's so hopeless and whiny!

I really liked the advanced series. May was such a good character. She evolved gradually through out the series to become one of my favourite characters period.

Dawn should know SOMETHING about contests her mom is a MASSIVE champion. You'd think there would be a small genetic component or that her mom would have shown her how to create basic combination's, but no... she's like totally freaking useless. I still don't quite understand how she won that 1 contest against a Prinplup... They even let Jessie WIN a contest. Now that freaked me, but come on she's been going in them for how long? It was about time that she won at least one.

I'd also like to know what the deal with Brock is now and why he's getting a bunch of weird pokemon. I mean I understood why he sorta went all water trainer in the gem saga, but Happiny and Crogunk? what the hell is that about?

RE: What has happened to pokemon? - Litrid - Oct. 05, 2008

I stopped watching Pokemon after the johto series cuz then it got boring.

RE: What has happened to pokemon? - Bey Brad - Oct. 05, 2008

Does anyone remember when Team Rocket were introduced, they were actually pretty cool characters? James was sexy as carp and actually evil. They bombed a hospital.

Oh hellz yea.

I miss that dude from the Mount Moon episode, he was great. The crazy one hahaha

RE: What has happened to pokemon? - Siliva - Oct. 05, 2008

I'm pretty sure we're all referring to the anime series, and not the games here. In which case, I'd just say "carp" and call nostalgia.

carp. Most of you are experiening nostalgia. There, I said it. Although I don't truly mean it. ^^;

I don't prefer one season of Pokemon over the other. Except for Johto. The fillers made me miss most of those seasons. Kanto was alright. Advance was okay. And I like D/P the best.

I happen to be one of the people who don't give a flying Pidgeotto about the voice switch, either. Sarah However-you-spell-her-last-name is certainly no Veronica Taylor, but she does a decent job overall. And seeing as Pokemon is STILL one of the higher rated shows on CN, the target audience (That's the key: Most of us here are NOT in that range) doesn't care either.

Pokemon has improved and gotten worse in many ways.

RE: What has happened to pokemon? - Grey - Oct. 05, 2008

The new voices make me cringe, but I kinda like how they dedicated an entire season to the introduction of Dawn. I personally like Dawn more because of that. I never liked May; she was waaaaayyyyy too girly to go on an adventure across harsh lands. Lips_sealed

Which is why I never watch Pokemon anymore. Besides the fact that I outgrew the anime, Hoenn sucked. Brock became the annoying carp who feeds the Ash, and May automatically fell into the stereotypical girly girl character with dainty pokemon. For the next gen, bring back Misty and kill Brock or something.

And kill Jesse. Then James will fall out of his submission to Jesse and her gravity-defying hairdo.

The addition of Chimchar (and his abuse by Ash's rival), and the trade between Ash and Dawn was nice, though.

RE: What has happened to pokemon? - Pich - Oct. 05, 2008

I like the Johto series the best in the anime and the games. Tongue_out I think pokemon has kind of gone downhill from there. (though, i like the orange islands season, too, and the gamecube pokemon games were nice).

RE: What has happened to pokemon? - May The Pirate - Oct. 05, 2008

I actually like the card game XD
They've started a Pokemon league down at the local games place and I've only lost 1 match so far XD and that was against Dreamborn.
People kept glaring at me calling my deck mean Unhappy

As for the series. Dawn is stupid XD She's like "PIPLUP ATTAAAAACK" then when the pokemon is weak enough for her to catch, she has her pokeballs at the bottom of the bag, by the time she pulls it out, pokemons fled. Very stupid XD Though she chose Piplup, which is kickass, so that's one good thing about her.

No we need Casey to return next season.

RE: What has happened to pokemon? - Cye Kinomiya - Oct. 05, 2008

If they an anime based on the Pokemon Adventures manga it'd be like the best thing ever.

No she was WAY too girly to go alone. She needed a mommy and daddy (Brock and Ash respectively :p) Which is why when she left the group to set out alone I couldn't believe it.

But for that matter Dawn is FAR worse. She spends SOO much time on her freaking hair and always calls her mom. She's complete carp.

fixed

Seriously, let's talk about the static art direction, terrible storyline format, and how all of the characters have become one-dimensional. There are so many shortcuts taken in the show, it's ridiculous. There's about seven different plots that the episodes re-use every single time, only they switch up the trainer and switch up the Pokémon as well.

Ash hasn't grown at all. He's the same person he was ten years ago. Brock, on the other hand, has gotten worse. He used to have goals and dreams of breeding Pokémon. Now he's just their cook and has the same throwaway gag every single episode. Dawn = May.

Speed lines, re-used backgrounds, etc. Animation is usually boring and flat. Whenever an attack hits, cut to a white flash and show the aftermath. No drastic changes in setting, no interesting backgrounds, no interesting foregrounds. Colors suck. Lame.

You learn something new about Team Rocket once in a while, and they make the show entertaining.

Granted, I haven't been following the show since I was eleven, but I already know that this is all pretty much true.

I second that.
Those comics were amazing. I loved green when she first makes an appearance, the way pikachu gets dressed in "Power enhancing items" makes it look like a viking XD

That character's name is Blue.

Red's rival is Blue. He's a dude.
It's in, I think book 4 or 5. Whichever one he first meets her and she nicks his badges.

Well why does it say in the actual manga I posted that she's green then?
All the books ive collected she's green, she always has been green in the ones I have.

And I know green is the first before blue to come out. but in character storyline, she is green in those comics, it even says it on her purse on the manga pictures Pinching_eyes

RE: What has happened to pokemon? - Pikachao - Oct. 06, 2008

Pokémon has 100% gotten worse imo.

Think of it this way, first off it was made by awesome japanese guys about monsters that attack each other and jessie and james bomb hospitals to steal pokemon and kids have seizures watching an awesome show. The game was amazing and everyone had fun.

X years later they've released... 30< more games, the only ones of which added to the fun were GSC. Maybe Ruby and Sapphire if you could call it a separate series of games but the anime had turned balls since Johto Journies and stuff.

It used to be all about the hardcore ownage, now it's been toned down on violence, and the trainers have contests to see which Pokémon is cuter.

Oh, and Nintendo ruined the cards, bring back WotC!

Ehh, you can call nostalgia on me but me and my bro are still happily playing R/B/Y and G/S/C and watching the old school episodes atm.

In the.. TRANSLATED manga pictures. I'm guessing the translators did it to make more sense with the way our games were released.

Uhm..it has green on both the japanese and English ones I've seen.

I can't be bothered argueing over something so trivial anyway.
