The Simpsons - Alice - Sep. 26, 2008 There needs to be a topic for this! To be honest, I'm a hardcore 'old' Simpsons fan; anything after season 9 starts to make me cringe and the most recent episodes are just diabolical in my opinion. Sorry, LOL. I seriously think it's one of the greatest TV series ever created however and I am such a huge fan. The Simpsons provides everything, it's just... AGH, amazing. What do you guys think? Got any favourite characters? Mine are definately Mr. Burns, Seymour Skinner and Lisa. RE: The Simpsons - Bey Brad - Sep. 26, 2008 sucked after about 1999 RE: The Simpsons - Maz - Sep. 26, 2008 Yeah it was a great show. The movie was pretty good too. The episode where apu has all the kids was funny . RE: The Simpsons - Train - Sep. 26, 2008 Best episode for me is the New York one. Bart's Boyband is a close second. I actually went to see the movie twice in theatre's and I have never done that with any other movie. Also I went the FIRST night for it (another thing I never do). Simpson's has always been a part of my life. Since the show started the day I was brought home from the hospital (Christmas of 87). Obviously I was never watching it then, but like age 8 + I have watched it. RE: The Simpsons - Kei - Sep. 26, 2008 I don't really follow which season is which, but I enjoy the show in general. I wish I watched it more. My favourite character (not really), is Miguel Sanchez (if anybody knows who I am talking about you are awesome). Blah, I forgot Lionel Hutz! Yeah, he's fantastic. I've always admired Phil Hartman's voice acting and was shocked to read about how he died - apparently his wife shot him in his sleep after taking cocaine and then shot herself. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phil_Hartman RE: The Simpsons - To - Sep. 26, 2008 Honestly, I believe the seasons post movie have been fairly good. I actually really liked some of these episodes, especially the episode in which Marge becomes addicted to an MMO. RE: The Simpsons - SK - Sep. 26, 2008 i used to love it before, i still think it's okay, but i prefer family guy RE: The Simpsons - Blitz - Sep. 27, 2008 (Sep. 26, 2008 10:16 PM)SK Wrote: i used to love it before, i still think it's okay, but i prefer family guyFamily guy FTW!! That is horrible. I didn't even know that he died until now. Shame. =[ They seem to be trying too hard recently although I like the halloween special where bart and lisa are wizards. "HEAD ZEPPELIN!" never gets old. xD RE: The Simpsons - ChozenBlader - Sep. 29, 2008 I used to watch this religiously. I have since been won over by Family Guy though, probably because the shows are kind of the same, but Family Guy is a bit more vulgar xd RE: The Simpsons - Alice - Sep. 30, 2008 (Sep. 29, 2008 8:03 PM)ChozenBlader Wrote: I used to watch this religiously. Fundamentally, The Simpsons is (was) a show that was amazingly strong in nearly every aspect: the jokes were cleverly written, cleverly performed and were just plain hilarious, the story lines were often wacky but not so much so that they became less enjoyable, and most importantly, the characters and interaction between them was incredibly directed and executed. People seem to forget that a ton of time and effort goes into a cartoon and there's usually a lot more to it than you first realise. When I was younger, I just used to laugh at the funny jokes but now, I appreciate the series as a whole a hell of a lot more. The voice actors are superb and I actually get a lot more enjoyment out of watching The Simpsons now because I can understand that beneath all the slapstick and initial laughs, there's a strong bond between Homer, Marge and everybody else. It's a lot more than a cartoon, really. HOWEVER After seeing some more recent episodes, my dorky heart just snapped in half. The main thing that has changed is that the series seems to rely really heavily on current events and celebrity appearances, something which was once considered taboo in The Simpsons world. Jokes have become less clever and less funny and less able to stand up on their own because of it. /nerdlinger RE: The Simpsons - Bey Brad - Sep. 30, 2008 The Simpsons rips on Family Guy for copying it, but it seems to me that The Simpsons is trying too hard to be more like Family Guy. I've been noticing this recently too, but Family Guy is starting to lose its roots too the Season Premier left me rather blah. Only thing I had a really good ripping laugh at was the Snoopy Dance because I thought it was cute. Simpsons premier was also SUPER funny to start and then went crazy at the end. The Saint Patrick's Day Parade and then the Northern Irish Parade was beautiful. RE: The Simpsons - Alice - Oct. 02, 2008 I saw the episode where Bart and Homer get tethered together by a judge last night. It was unbearable. Since when the hell can Marge say 'breasts' and 'butthole'?! The thing I love about Marge is that she is (was) a prim and proper mum - that was her charm! It seems The Simpsons has become so much more explicit, in more than one way, to compete with popular vulgarity-filled shows such as Family Guy. I so wish it hadn't. And no, I will not let this go. >8( RE: The Simpsons - Pikachao - Oct. 02, 2008 There are companies that know that whatever carp they put on the market, people will still buy it. Pokemon, Jagex, Hasbro (good god), Blizzard, Major TV show and cartoon companies. The list goes on. People always want the sequel, even if it sucks. Well, that's my two Gil. EDIT: Know what never gets old? DILBERT. RE: The Simpsons - ChozenBlader - Oct. 03, 2008 One of my favourite parts of Family Guy is the tendancy to randomly break out into song (which can sometimes prompt the four-man vocal band to appear in the episode for all of about 3 minutes) xd Also, to be honest, I think in terms of vulgarity, it goes: The Simpsons > Family Guy > South Park |
