That the camera can detect the sword being tossed, which angle it was tossed at, the velocity of the twirl, etc. That's a huge deal.

What controler do you perfer for Tatsunoko VS. Capcom? I like the Wii-mote and Nunchuck, and I'm getting used to the Classic Controler, but I need help: I want to get better. I know I should practice a little bit every day, but I think I need the 8-button controler for my edge. It's a little expensive (Although I have birthday money and gift cards, my dad doesn't think I should get it).

RE: Gaming Random Thoughts - To - Mar. 11, 2010

So at GDC Sony announced that their motion controller will be called the PlayStation Move. Which isn't a bad name, even though I preferred Arc. But I see why they decided against Arc, as the name just screams not casual friendly.

They also announced a boatload of Wii Sports knock off games called Move Sports, and Move Party, etc (smeh). One called Slider could be hilarious, it's apparently a martial arts game where the character is seated on an office chair and flies down city streets beating people up.

This is pretty ballsy:

I hate Nintendo. This is what you've done to video games.

RE: Gaming Random Thoughts - Crimson - Mar. 11, 2010

That looks utterly retarded.

Now, it's not like the Wii remote is the pinacle of video game style, but at least the remote doesn't have a stupid ball stuck to the top.

I'm really not that impressed by the "Move".

I actually am curious now, how many of the Sony Fanboys who were crying out about the "Wii being a baby toy" are looking at the Move and saying "WOW! Motion controls, THAT IS HARDCORE!"

RE: Gaming Random Thoughts - Roan - Mar. 11, 2010

lol

This whole thing is going to do nothing but stir up another shitstorm between console fanboys. Lovely.

RE: Gaming Random Thoughts - To - Mar. 11, 2010

The reason why the Move has the disco ball is because it's how the movements are tracked. It's Sony's way of getting around Nintendo's patent by using things they've been developing since the original PlayStation was on the market. The ball changes colour to not only show different players, but so that it also doesn't track any background colours in the same hue (the camera scans the room, see's you have a red wall, illuminates the ball blue so that it doesn't track the wall). We've known about that since it was announced as the in progress name, "Wand". As for how it feels, apparently those who tested it at GDC had no problem with it (or the mini move) while playing Socom 4, or the table tennis game.

I don't <3 motion controls, but if they announce some cool games at Destination PlayStation, or at E3, I'd likely get one.

... Although that is logical, I don't want my room glowing carping fuschia =_=

Back on the topic of Final Fantasy XIII, you have no idea how annoying the leveling up system has proved to be.

As gorgeous as this game has been so far, the nigh on perfect camera angling, the brilliant cut-scenes, the gorgeous surrounding world (albeit a fairly restrictive one), this sphere grid system is really ruining it for me.

It attempts to give the user a feel of 'freedom' by allowing them to 'choose' what order they spend their points in, but this really isn't the case.

Instead of having all of the basic classes for each character to start off with and assign points to, each new class seems to be just randomly given to each character after progressing to certain parts in the game.

This doesn't sound like too much of a problem, but after you've filled each level of classes, you can't just automatically go on to filling the next class until you've unlocked it.

This means that points earned during battles are just left sitting there, not improving your character at all.

Seriously Square-Enix, just go back to the Job System, and give me a carping level!

Weapon advancement is pretty pain in the carp terrible as well, since you find yourself just shoving random items together to upgrade your weapon, having no clue what items increase the weapon in what ways.

They need to stop adding gimmicky features for such vital parts of the game, keep them simple, and just focus on the actual game itself.

I don't want to have to play a mini-game just to get a half decent sword level.

i'm probably being really stupid here, but how is that gif any different from anything a webcam could do? I mean I realize it has motion sensors and carp, but how can you "see the sensors" in the gif?

also that controler looks stupid as carp. fu nintendo for bringing this motion carp into video games

RE: Gaming Random Thoughts - theflightyellz - Mar. 11, 2010

I did it - -,
Also yelled "TASTE MY PAIN BIYOTCH!" when I caught it in the middle of the university common room as well...
2 hours of constantly hammering at a Pokemon will do that to you.
Well, that and Zoolander.

RE: Gaming Random Thoughts - SonicManEXE - Mar. 11, 2010

Wow, the Move looks like a HUGE rip-off.
Speaking of rip-offs, I downloaded Spyro Year of The Dragon a couple hours ago, and all I could do was remember the memories. Good times. Goooood times. Then I saw Moneybags and I remembered his rip-off prices.

Did you hold Up and B when you threw the ball?

(About 12-13 years ago, Way back when Pokemon Red and Blue came out, there was a rumor that if you held Up + B when you threw a Pokeball, it would raise the chances of you capturing that pokemon.

13 years later and every time I throw a pokeball, I instinctively hold Up and B.)

His mate sent him the Azure Flute. Or whatever let's you get it. He also sent him a load of wonder cards for different legendaries.....*is jealous*

Think I probably repeatedly tap A, or just will it with all my heart to sort of work lol. Do that when I want a pokemon to attack rather than hurting itself in confusion, etc, etc

RE: Gaming Random Thoughts - Bey Brad - Mar. 11, 2010
