LOST (Spoilers) - Maz - Aug. 12, 2008
My favorite show ever. The Emmy Award winning drama, Lost.
Discuss.
RE: LOST - KoD PT - Aug. 13, 2008
Just watched the last two episodes from season 4 this past Sunday, awesome stuff. Always leaves you wanting to watch more and every time you get answers to some of the stuff you're left with even more questions.
Can't wait for the next season. I wonder if it's gonna cover the 3 year period in the island or jump straight to season 4's ending flashforward.
RE: LOST - Maz - Aug. 13, 2008
The producers said when season 5 starts your not gonna be sure where in the timeline of the show the episode is occuring.
Only two seasons left ;.;
RE: LOST (Spoilers) - Elmo - Aug. 14, 2008
I get lost if I miss an episode, so I don't watch it. I thoroughly enjoyed the first season, and despised the rest. Why do they keep going deeper and deeper into an unrealistic storyline? "THE ISLAND WANTS US TO COME BACK". psh
My sisters somehow are still addicted to it.
RE: LOST (Spoilers) - SK - Aug. 14, 2008
season one was carp awesome
season two was a letdown, but i still watched it
i watched 3 episodes of season 3, untill giving up because it was getting so boring
haven't seen a episode of season 4
RE: LOST (Spoilers) - To - Aug. 14, 2008
Put me in the "I forgot to watch an episode of LOST, and got completely lost." camp, and because I don't like the show that much I have no desire to pick up the DVDs.
RE: LOST (Spoilers) - Maz - Aug. 15, 2008
abc.com has every episode to stream for free.
RE: LOST (Spoilers) - Maz - Aug. 19, 2008

RE: LOST (Spoilers) - Benkei - Dec. 05, 2009
I know this is an age old thread but I thought i'd bump it. The release of season 6 is impending and one of my favorite shows will come to an end. There are many things I like about it, the acting is of the highest caliber, the production values are through the roof and no matter how much they tell you there are always more questions. However my favorite episode is definitely the fourth episode of season one. Which focuses on lock's struggle and his destiny. This episode always brings me to tears every time.
RE: LOST (Spoilers) - NightWolf7919 - Jun. 15, 2011
Hey, where did all the LOST fans go? Don't tell me you guys don't want to talk aobut it just cause Hurley became leader of the island? Dude, I knew that Jack was gonna die, it just seemed like the logical way to go, and I didn't know whether Desmond or Ben would be the new protector.
RE: LOST (Spoilers) - Dude - Jun. 16, 2011
Lost.
Best premise ever. Worst ending ever.
Seriously, the last few episodes and Jacob's backstory made no freakin' sense.
RE: LOST (Spoilers) - NightWolf7919 - Jun. 21, 2011
I thought the ending was great. It was a final sentence to the show that we all loved. It was probably the only way they could keep the greater of the masses happy. And the backstory made sense to me, what about it didn't make sense?
RE: LOST (Spoilers) - Dude - Jun. 22, 2011
Massive spoiler alert, don't read if you care (Which you shouldn't)
1. Crazy insane old hag that's been on the island for a long time kills a woman who just gave birth to twins and only names one of them because the mother expected only one baby. Would it kill you to think of a name, lady? Next, nameless Jacob twin joins with a bunch of rather pacifist humans who just want to leave the island (You know, free will?) by creating some sort of giant wheel in the ground. How does that work, exactly? Was there a flow of...unknown-teleporting-plot-convienient-energy, behind that mud wall? How can the giant wheel thing channel that energy? It just makes no sense, but either way, the old-hag doesn't want to let them leave the island. This is the best part: An aging most certainly crazy woman not only defeats an entire village of rather well-built men obviously by herself but she also fills a giant tunnel with durt, all of which she does only in a few hours maximum. That's just insane.
2. The whole "flashbacks where the crash didn't happen" was just some kind of last gig they did together ater death? Well that's a horrible thing to do to themselves. Imagine, you completely forgot you were dead and you're leading a better life than the one you actually had (In most cases) and you realize through...flashes, I guess, that you're actually dead? What a freaking bummer! And you guys wanted to do this? Having fun with your fake little lives to realize in flashes that it's all a lie and that you're already dead? That's just insane (I know I'm repeating myself)
3. What was up with Walt being a psychic? Why did Ben kill Loch? What the hell is that source of light that Jacob must protect supposed to be, on the island? God? The source of life? What the hell?! Why was the Smog Monster suddenly taking the shape of random humans like Eko's brother or Jack's father? For fun? Why does throwing Jacob's nameless brother into the pit of light, whatever it is, result in turning him into a giant smog monster with shape-shifting abilities? Why would it be SO BAD for Jacob's brother to leave the island? He just wanted his freedom! Who said he was going to destroy everything?
4. You're widely mistaken, when you say that this was the best way of satisfying the masses, because the ending of Lost is vastly regarded as one of the worst endings to a show ever.
5. What was up with that woman that claimed to work for Jacob and kept threatening Ben? She claims that Jacob's been preparing her all her life for this, that Jacob knows what's gonna happen and that he's got a plan, but she just blows up by accidentally dropping the dynamite too hard. She was utterly useless! What was Jacob's plan, exactly?!
The problem here is the incredible amount of unanswered or vaguely answered questions and that's unsatisfying. If I may quote Doug Walker on the subject: "It's not like in Pulp Fiction, where everyone knew what was in the briefcase. The characters want to know so WE want to know."
Lost is a great show, but that ending is basically J.J Abrams smiling and saying "Sorry, I got nothing."
RE: LOST (Spoilers) - NightWolf7919 - Jun. 22, 2011
Answered all your questions Dude
Question Number 1. Crazy insane old hag that's been on the island for a long time kills a woman who just gave birth to twins and only names one of them because the mother expected only one baby. Would it kill you to think of a name, lady?
She wanted them to grow up to be opposites. Don't be so naive to think she never knew all of this was going to happen. Jacob wears white, MIB wears black. Jacob gets a name, MIB doesn't. MIB gets a board game Jacob doesn't. I'm sure this happened throughout their lives.
What made you think they were pacifists? As the MIB described they were selfish, base creatures that cared for nothing but themselves. And if you're talking about realism, might as well not watch the show, you might as well not watch television anyway! The wheel somehow harnesses the Island's natural electromagnetic energy and teleports the user to the exit point in Tunisia. How it does that is left up to the viewer's interpretation.
You remember when she said that 'going into the light gives you a fate worse than death?' She obviously knows this because she herself went in and became a smoke monster. The producers revealed this and thats how she massacred the village and filled up the ditch. I don't blame you for not knowing this.
They made the world so they could remember each other. The time they spent together is the most important times of their life. Wouldn't you like to "move on" with your family and friends and people you love the most? Sounds like a good deal to me! Also, time doesn't pass in the Flash Sideways World, Their lives in that world actually never happened, only what we saw in the episodes actually happened.
#5. What was up with Walt being a psychic? Walt was special, I believe that was made clear
Why did Ben kill Loch? Because the only way the Oceanic 6 would come back to the island was through his death
What the hell is that source of light that Jacob must protect supposed to be, on the island? God? The source of life? What the hell?! The real explanation and I quote right from the show: "A physical manifestation of life, death, and rebirth..." It represents all that is good in the world and humans always want more
Why was the Smog Monster suddenly taking the shape of random humans like Eko's brother or Jack's father? For fun? To manipulate and trick the survivors into slowly killing each other. As you can see, the monster was largely successful.
Why does throwing Jacob's nameless brother into the pit of light, whatever it is, result in turning him into a giant smog monster with shape-shifting abilities? Because, as I said earlier, it is a fate worse than death. Never to be human again. To be a lifeless smoke monster trapped on the island
Why would it be SO BAD for Jacob's brother to leave the island? He just wanted his freedom! Who said he was going to destroy everything? After he became the monster, he became the physical manifestation of evil. If he were to escape, then the Island would have lost its purpose, which would be to keep evil at bay.
#6. You're widely mistaken, when you say that this was the best way of satisfying the masses, because the ending of Lost is vastly regarded as one of the worst endings to a show ever.
Actually, it was highly acclaimed by most sites. And then there were those who felt "cheated."
She had done her purpose, which was to say that they were all candidates. Then the island was done with her
I answered basically all of your questions. What surprises me is half of this stuff is explicitly stated in the show itself. But if you weren't a really major lost fan (like me) you probably wouldn't notice.
And the ending is more a matter of opinion. I found that it was the only possible way to end it, because if they left it at any sort of cliff hanger, then people would be begging for more. The creators made it clear that this was the end of their chapter, and the survivors that we've grown to love, finally ended their stories together.
If you're unsatisfied with any of my answers to your questions, please PM me.
RE: LOST (Spoilers) - Dude - Jun. 22, 2011
I'm afraid I'm still unsatisfied with most of those answers (Although some are okay) and a few answers are actually wworse than giving no answer at all, but you shouldn't waste your time trying to convince me that this is a good ending.
And Walt was just "special"? That's it?
