Pokemon Gold and Silver remakes - trueblader - Aug. 08, 2008

This may be a waste of a thread, but there was a lot of discussion of these to hypothetical games in the pokemon platinum thread, so i decided to make a GS remake thread. You can voice all your opinions and thoughts here. Storyline, names, extra places like a sevii islands from the Fire red And Leaf green remakes.

RE: Pokemon Gold and Silver remakes - Bey Brad - Aug. 08, 2008

ugh how about they make a decent new game

gold/silver were the best games in the series, how can they not make something better

RE: Pokemon Gold and Silver remakes - trueblader - Aug. 08, 2008

I agree with you Brad, pokemon gold and silver were the best games in the series, that is why remakes with better graphics and updated gameplay would be so good. I mean just look at Pokemon Fire red and Leaf Greeen. However the reason the pokemon games are not doing any better is because they all use basically the same story line. GS had a sequel to Red and Blue's storyline. You were trying to stop Team Rocket from regaining glory. GS were the games that were most different that is why the did so well. Pokemon Diamond and Pearl had the potential to be as good as GS. if they would have been true sequels to Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire instead of just happening three years after the events of Ruby and sapphire. A pokemon game needs to be made that takes place after ( in timeline so to speak) the events of Pokemon D/P and Pokemon G/S.

RE: Pokemon Gold and Silver remakes - Bey Brad - Aug. 08, 2008

The storyline is hardly to blame for Pokemon's stagnation. I actually thought Pearl and Diamond had the best storyline so far, though there was obviously a lot of room for improvement.

The problem is that every game is fundamentally the same. Play through eight gyms, all with a respective element, get through a forest, a cave or two, collect the same crappy HMs that fill up your attack slots, eventually make it to the Elite Four, beat the champion and then ... nothing.

The stats system is completely busted and archaic (as we've discussed here ad-nauseum) and needs to be revamped. I don't plan to buy any more Pokemon games because they're simply not going anywhere new.

RE: Pokemon Gold and Silver remakes - trueblader - Aug. 08, 2008

Brad, the point in the pokemon universe is to go on exploration. it is based off of tradition. They fight eight Gym leaders to get to the Pokemon league. they fight in the pokemon league to be the best trainer. after that the move to a new region to do it all over again. there really isn't any way to change the pokemon games, in the way you are implying, without changing the very tradition of being a pokemon trainer in the pokemon universe. They can only give you a different goal. i.e pokemon ranger, pokemon mystery dungeon, pokemon snap.

RE: Pokemon Gold and Silver remakes - Dranzer206 - Aug. 08, 2008

I would like it if they made a pokemon game for the wii and just went all out with it my two fav pokemon games was red and blue. How would you feel trueblader if they remade any of the pokemon games for the wii?? I just wonder really thats all if they do plan on doing that I think it would be cool if they did that.

RE: Pokemon Gold and Silver remakes - trueblader - Aug. 08, 2008

I think it would be pretty sweet to see pokemon red and blau on a television set. it would be all big and easier to see in the dark. and on the wii, could you imagine that. it would be awsome!!!!

Tradition? There series has only had four real installments for God's sake. You can still explore and stuff, but how about competing in tournaments instead of gyms (which makes more sense anyway)? There's lots of changes that can be made while staying true to what makes Pokemon enjoyable.

RE: Pokemon Gold and Silver remakes - Bey Brad - Aug. 08, 2008

Brad i mean a tradition in the universe itself, in the canon of pokemon. like ash what he is trying to accomplish. it is a tradition in the pokemon universe to have gym, it is not a tradition of our universe. And Pokemon stadium is not what i am talking about, I've played pokemon stadium, stadium 2, colleseum, Gale of darkness, and battle revolution. I mean releasing the Original Red and blue on the wii. like they did for Nes games, and SNES, games. Like on wiiware. the original games.

Yea that would be sweet because i loved the pokemon games but when the years passed all they did was inprove the graphics thats all and the games all seemed the same.

RE: Pokemon Gold and Silver remakes - trueblader - Aug. 08, 2008

Imo they could change the pokemon games but it would still involve pokemon gyms, the elite four and all the other staples in some way, shape or form. In generation five something needs to be revolutionized and i think it will probably be the story. Who knows, we might not have to take on another evil organization or rival ( In my dreams ) and will get something better.

RE: Pokemon Gold and Silver remakes - Bey Brad - Aug. 08, 2008

how about we get rivals that are actually cool again? every rival after G/S was a carp

lol so true. I want a G/S remake but Nintendo are too lazy, they go on with new Pokemon. They made remake of Fire and Blue, so why don't they remake G/S...

Well if you look at why they made the remakes then you would see why they probably won't remake GS. Fire red and Leaf Green were remade because you could not chatch all 386 pokemon in pokemon Ruby and Sapphire. you could only get 202 of them. pokemon Fire red and leaf Green filled in this void. there would be no gaming reason to remak the games. you can already get all 493 pokemon. now that is not to say they would not make it. they could make remakes so it would be easier to get Ho-oh and Lugia without going to a nintendo event. or beating all of emerald just to get the three starters of gold and silver. faced with this i think Gold and Silver remakes are in the Gray area of being made or not. there is no real reason to remake them, but nintendo would make alot of money if they did.

How is making a remake instead of a new game anything BUT lazy?

RE: Pokemon Gold and Silver remakes - trueblader - Aug. 08, 2008

I think its any thing but lazy because it is easier to release another pokemon game that is excactly the same as the others, then it is to remake a great game and make it just as good or better. Anyone can go out making crappy replays all day long, but it takes effort to remake a great game into a perfect one.

no

RE: Pokemon Gold and Silver remakes - trueblader - Aug. 09, 2008

well what do you suggest nintendo and gamefreak do. I mean Pokemon MD was alright and Pokemon ranger was slightly boring. The pokemon stadium type games are all pretty much the same. there are not very many concepts to change the main series of games that would work. They could give another game based off of the anime with the main characters all making an apperance and let you play as ash with pikachu through their adventures, but that would just be a side game, not part of the main series.

RE: Pokemon Gold and Silver remakes - bugturtles - Aug. 09, 2008

uh dude just get rid of the ev/iv thing, replace with an adjustable stat system and i am SOLD

you know what would be cool?

play in the place of team rocket, try to get a big team, have schemes (like making the lottery scheme work [remember the celadon lottery in rby?]) and try to beat your current boss to replace him, then off to beating ash and company

yeah that would be bangin
