Tournament Report: "Erm, What the Plastics?" 2: ~Skibidi Tryglet~, BOUNCY CASTLE!!!!! - Neo - Apr. 14, 2025 Seattle Area / Sumner Tournament Report: "Erm, What the Plastics?" 2: ~Skibidi Tryglet~, BOUNCY CASTLE!!!!! Wanted to share my thoughts on the two Plastics Format events I hosted on Saturday. This was essentially a birthday party for myself, and I gifted 18 3D Printed Reproduction Plastics Beyblades out to participants! Background info on the state of Plastics in Seattle: Spoiler (Click to View) This event was 2 in 1. The main format was Deck, first to 5, in the Shin Tornado Attack. Basic stuff, but great fun. Then we also had an event on the side called "Bouncy Castle!" which is a joke about the stadium we used; the Bey Air Stadium! I don't think anyone has ever used this stadium in an actual event ever. Its a pretty obscure stadium that is a licensed product, but they did somehow make 3 versions of it. ![]() Honestly, it was not terrible at all. Worse than you'd want it to be, but better than you'd think it is. It does sort of function! Obviously bearing-based beys do well here, but atypical zombies like Spiral Change Base combos or Gyro Engine aren't very good here. Double-Copter also did amazing in it. Truly a home for Trypio. Everyone pretty much loved the thing, and we had a blast from blowing it up to deflating it. As for competitive; The current meta really revolves around attackers with good survivability. Metal Flat Base (Gaia V) and Full Auto Clutch Base Shaft. Circle Survivor stuff does well, but usually attackers in our area don't tend to do very well unless they're run on Metal-y or Plastic-y aggro tips. Our scene definitely needs to see improvement in running things on rubber flat bases. I did give out a lot of them in the 3D printed copies, but a lot of players (especially X-born Bladers,) don't quite know how to or what a flower pattern is. I think next Plastics event I will try to run all rubber tip stuff to send a message ![]() I will show you a real FRICTION FREAK ![]() More on what I gave out 3D Print Reproduction wise - ![]() These were the combos! Spoiler (Click to View) None of these Beys required any OEM parts, besides a Weight Disk. Last year at the original "Erm, What the Plastics?", I also had to give away a ton of spare WDs. I'm fine with this. As we all know, competitively, Wide Defense tops all for most combos. I have a ton of spare Eight-Series Weight Disks to spare, or at least, had. When it came to breakage (a good concern with 3D Prints,) we really didn't have many. A few Metal Ball Base screw posts didn't do well, but we only fixed the model eventually for the 3rd given out to make it easier to thread. That one didn't break at all, so I believe it should be ok now with the edits made. One of the Yellow Driger V2 combos shattered twice but I think that was due to me printing it at a 0.1 layer height instead of a 0.08 layer height. After we made that swap, quality, looks, and durability went up immensely. The shafts for the bearing based stuff was completely made from scratch utilizing aluminum rods cut with stainless steel cutters. I measure these by placing an original OEM shaft next to the new one and cutting it to the exact size. I buy bearings to place within the casings, ones that are great, easily sourceable, and as good as the best originals. Here are links to all of my tools used, and a video on the Burning Kerberous Shaft Repro. Burning Kerberous Repro Shaft Video Bearings Shafts Metal Bead (Goes inside of the plastic tip) Cutters (be careful!) Additionally, we used this TPE (recommended by @th!nk) for rubber reproductions and it works AMAZINGLY! We used it on the Bearing Version 2 Shaft's Rubber Tip with Loctite to adhere it to the plastic joining part for the Bearing V2 Shaft part, like the original also was. Spiderflex TPE Rubber Filament! Lastly, we got the b a l l s for the Metal Ball Base Repro and it's screws. Metal Orbicles 4 Layer Base Screws from Digikey Getting the Wolborg 2 shaft tip combo to be reproduceable has been a dream of mine for a long time now since we reproed BK's shaft last year. My wife liwfie put a TON of work and sweat into getting it done right and now we have the models and methods for anyone to make an accurate WB2 shaft to use. I had a ton of fun making the combos. ![]() I'm sure you noticed the cool Blastoise bit sticker. Used his Japanese name in Katakana, "Kamex" and typed it in the original Pokemon Red and Green font. Not fun to do. Loved the result. Likewise gave people and lot of the combos a spare Ice Dranzer, as is biblically accurate to the 2000s experience for kids. My favorite was the red bistool combo, where I used a HellsScythe sticker. This earned it the nickname of "Scythe Pretendio" at the event. Amazing. It's alt bit was also a long forgotten random bit named "Death Scythe" which was pretty cool. Showa HellsScythe if you catch my drift. All these beys were made with Fanplastic and Jack the HANDler's models and scans. Without those guys, none of this would be possible. Big thanks! And for the necessary edits again, my wife liwfie is the absolute GOAT. thanks hon This was a lot of people's first experience with Plastics, and also a lot of returning players too. Most people seemed to have a great time and told me thanks many a time. There was even a 9-10 year old boy there who had an absolute blast. He loved it, spammed my Circle Survivor loaner, and I eventually caved and gave him my spare free bey because he was just too sweet. He immediately bombed me with a cute marker drawing of some cool beyblades. Heartwarming stuff. tldr please play plastics its just super fun and awesome. if any wbo scene needs help to try and strike my lightning in your area, let me know and I'll offer any help I can! RE: Tournament Report: "Erm, What the Plastics?" 2: ~Skibidi Tryglet~, BOUNCY CASTLE!!!!! - NinongJames - Apr. 14, 2025 Attending that event definitely made me wanna buy Plastics again. It was also good to use a Dranzer V2 again, took me back to 03-04 days when I would battle with all my cousins and other bladers in the neighborhood RE: Tournament Report: "Erm, What the Plastics?" 2: ~Skibidi Tryglet~, BOUNCY CASTLE!!!!! - Mors_Ultra - Apr. 14, 2025 Event was a blast! Definitely made the lots you had me buy worth their while! Never been too into plastics but I love turning off my brain and getting silly with it. |
