Tournament Report - "Beamflickers Melee Monthly" - Blader_Atlas - Mar. 21, 2025 Time for another WBO tournament report! Today's results were a bit more all over the place than the last one. For those who are unaware, I've been using a dinosauraur themed deck with the Tyrannos and Talon Ptera. Beat Tyranno has been my aggressive Balance type, Roar has been on Defense and Stamina, and Ptera has been on OHKO duty. In my last report I wrote about how I tested out some new combos and wanted to refine my launches. Something to note is that Beamflicker's tournaments are run in Hasbro stadiums. It offers a completely different game that rewards aggression, and more precision on your launches. The only issue I had with this was that I didn't properly prepare for these builds in this stadium. This week I barely managed to sneak into the top 16, a 2-3 set record in a 5 round group stage. What was even more interesting about this event was that the battles were first to 4, best of 3 sets. Battles had a different flow to the and required a different kind of strategy, at least for the first time competing in this format. Deck swaps can happen earlier which can lead to a different gameplan around reshuffling beys. I enjoyed this format a lot, and I hope he keeps running these kinds of matches going forward! Onto the combos! Roar Tyranno 5-60D (3:10, 3:19) [Rounds W:L, Points W:L] Beat Tyranno 9-60/80TP (13:6, 11:13) Talon Ptera 3-60LF/C (6:8, 16:13) Results vs Silver Wolf/Buster Dran/Keel Shark 2:1 vs Shelter Drake/Golem Rock/Keel Shark 2:1 vs Beat Tyranno/Wand Wizard/Soar Phoenix 0:2 vs Beat Tyranno/Wand Wizard/Soar Phoenix 1:2 vs Wand Wizard/Cobalt Dragoon/??? 0:2 Roar Tyranno severely underperformed compared to its last use on 5-60H. Dot doesn't get the same movement benefits after getting hit in Hasbro as it does in TT. All of the points it earned were from Spin Finishes, and it was very susceptible to getting knocked into the Over Finish pockets. Overall, I still like Roar on non-aggressive builds, and I plan on giving Dot and Hexa one more spin before my next tournament this weekend. I'm also considering swapping the ratchet to 1-60 for the heck of it. Beat Tyranno was a monster. It did just as well as it did the other day, even while I forgot to swap it onto 9-60 for half the tournament. No complaints here. Talon Ptera made a better case for itself this time around. It performed much better than its previous 3:8 (7:10) record, earning more wins and points. This was my first time using Cyclone as well, and after impressions I think it's better on heavier builds. Comparing results, both did well at getting Xtreme and Over Finishes, but Cyclone had worse stamina. I'll be sticking to Low Flat on this build for now. I also noticed my launch techniques were better with this ankle biter of a beyblade. Overall, while I regret that I didn't properly test these combos out in the Hasbro stadium, I appreciate that I have a better understanding of how these parts work in that environment. There's only one more tournament in Season 0 of our ranked season, and I'll be pivoting away from the dinosaurs after March ends, so hopefully I can sneak in one more good performance to close things out! |
