Hasbro Pro vs Takara Tomy Drivers (Burst question) - BBDad - Feb. 25, 2025

Hello,
My son and I are still in the Burst era and he's accumulated a large stash of Beys ranging from Cho-Z to now DB.  He has a couple of Hasbro Pro's, (maybe 6?), and the quality is pretty good... until some of the teeth start wearing.  Unfortunately, we don't have the equivalent TT Beys so we can't do a 1 to 1 comparison on the parts.  But now he's looking to get some competitive pieces and I'm curious if the Hasbro Pro drivers are as good as the equivalent Takara Tomy drivers.

For instance, the cheapest we can find Quick' from TT is around $30 USD on a Union Spriggan.  We can find that same driver on a Hasbro Pro set for about $22 USD.  With him getting more and more into the DB releases, the Beys are almost meaningless to him so it's kind of coming down to the cost of just getting the drivers.  I've often seen the comment on the BeyBlade Wiki along the lines of "Hasbro's version if virtually unchanged albeit with thinner plastic and cheaper materials".  Or something to that extent.  Is that just a blanket statement based on previous things like teeth wear or does that apply to everything Hasbro puts out?  Of note: I never see that disclaimer on the driver Wiki pages.

Any firsthand insight is appreciated!  Oh, and I'm not sure about the legality, but Tournament wouldn't matter for him at this stage.

So to answer your question most pro series drivers are exactly the same as the Takara Tomy drivers. Although there are a few that aren't, for example my brother got fuison' from pro series lord spryzen and the little bump on the tip wore down and now it behaves more like accel, yet my brother's fusion' from burst spriggan is still as good as new. So in other words most of the pro series drivers will be the same as the Takara Tomy ones with a few exceptions.

Hi from the guy who wrote that based on play and reviews at the time: in general the plastic quality is not as good, but this only really affects Layer teeth. Layer teeth will generally wear faster, but wear is also inherent to the design; the Pro/TT Layer teeth will all eventually wear, and was one of the main issues for Burst as a system.

Drivers should be fine. Many people bought Quick' from Hasbro back in the day because it was more affordable and had little discernable performance difference from the exact same release from Takara Tomy.

Thank you both for the information! Right now, the 3 Pro drivers with rubber that he has wore to nothing, but they were also his gateway into Beyblade and were used almost exclusively in the beginning - all at full strength launches until we understood more. And for a difference of around $10, I would just get the TT version in this instance, but it's when you start talking about picking up multiple copies that things get bad.

Regardless, thank you guys! And KIO, just a side note, you have no idea how many of your articles I've read. Very much appreciated!
