Learning what I can - whipthorn - Jan. 18, 2025 My son got a Burst Bey for Christmas from his cousin, and that has started us down the rabbit hole that is Beyblade X... In order to let him play with it, I bought my own Burst Bey, and one of the bucket stadiums online. Being an impatient person, while I waited for the order to arrive, I popped into my local Target, and discovered a small selection of Hasbro Beyblade X boxes. Thinking of the joy he would have, I bought a few starters and some boosters, and brought them home. That was about December 27th. Since then our collection has grown into a dozen beys, all of the X generation. My son has fallen in love with Sword Dran and Arrow Wizard, while I've gravitated towards Soar Phoenix and Horn Rhino. We still only have the Speed Storm bucket stadium, and while that limits our learning to exclude the X-celerator Rail system, we have focused on learning combos, launch techniques, and the details of the beys we own. His are: Sword Dran 3-60 Flat Arrow Wizard 4-80 Ball Claw Leon 5-60 Point Tail Viper 3-80 Needle Savage Bear 3-60 Spike Roar Tyranno 9-60 Gear Flat Mine are: Soar Phoenix 9-60 Gear Flat Horn Rhino 3-80 Spike Steel Samurai 4-80 Taper Talon Ptera 3-80 Ball Gale Wyvern 5-80 Gear Ball Keel Shark 3-60 Low Flat When we test our beys in the bucket stadium, we do count a bey being knocked out of the stadium as points equal to an X-treme Finish. This was our combos and results from yesterday's round of battles. We only went to a certain number of points, due to the short attention span of my son. I welcome any advice or feedback on combos to try or ones we have already tried. While I'd like to be competitive at some point, the lack of the proper stadium limits our testing at the moment. First up was all six of our beys with stock parts, each was to 4 points. Soar Phoenix 9-60 Gear Flat vs Arrow Wizard 4-80 Ball 1. Arrow Wizard spin finish 1 point 2. Claw Leon spin finish 1 point Winner - Claw Leon I think I've found a keeper with Horn Rhino on Taper, but I'd like to try a few more Ratchets before I settle on it for my deck. Gale Wyvern was a bit of a disappointment today, unfortunately. But I only have half a dozen bits right now, so I'm sure it will get better when I have more to test on. Keel Shark though, even stock, is quickly becoming my favorite Attack Bey! It's vicious in the stadium! Tomorrow I'm putting in a large order through one of the beys shops, and getting a few necessities. An X stadium, launcher handles, and about two dozen new beys for my son and I. Hopefully this time next week I have the correct stadium to practice on! RE: Learning what I can - whipthorn - Feb. 03, 2025 We got our order, so all further testing will be on a TT stadium! We also got a lot more beys, so let's commence the testing! Today I tested Wizard Rod 5-70 Ball against a variety of blades on a 9-60 Accel. I wanted to see how this stamina beys held up, and also wanted to test this attack bit to see how it does against the meta. I'm doing 10 battles each blade, regardless of points. First up, Keel Shark! Wizard Rod had 6 wins from a spin finish, and two extreme finishes!! It had connected with the X-celerator Rail after big hits, and delivered quite a blow to Keel Shark. The attack bey only had one extreme finish and one over finish. 12 points to 5, Wizard Rod is the victor! Next up, Weiss Tiger! This was an interesting set of results. Weiss Tiger had a couple spin finishes over Wizard Rod, and I was shocked! It also had a pair of over finishes, but Wizard Rod got both an over finish and an extreme finish! 9 points to 6, Wizard Rod still taking a win here. Then, Ptera Swing! This was a very lopsided fight. Aside from a single burst finish, Ptera Swing struck out. Wizard Rod got another over finish and extreme finish as well, and ended it 12 points to 2. For the next challenger, I picked out Impact Drake. This bey has been begging me to use it, and given the set up, I was not disappointed. Impact Drake only scored extreme finishes and burst finishes. 6 points to 10, Wizard Rod scores it's first overall loss, and only had spin finish victories. Phoenix Feather is second to last now, and after all is said and done, Phoenix Feather managed to get the only extreme and over finish during the fight. But everything else was a spin finish and Wizard Rod wins 8 points to 5. Lastly, I brought in Sword Dran, and this set went wildly off the rails! Despite its hitting power, Sword Dran only managed to pull out a single spin finish! Wizard Rod, however, scored a two over finishes on recoil! 11 points to 1. I think the 5-70 is good with Wizard Rod, and I want to try a slightly lower bit next! As for the Accel bit, I think it's got a great opening hit, but after that, your only hope is a Burst finish. Time to try another attack bit. |
