XCG Format proposal for the future - Mr. Memes - Dec. 20, 2024

This proposal is a slightly altered continuation of a previous proposal made for Beyblade X by [K]reative for a format centered around the X-Over releases.  As we are closely reaching the 2-year mark with Beyblade X as a community, I realized some regions are still not caught up to speed with the latest releases and that Hasbro itself has released slightly altered TT releases with no notable outliers outside of Optimus Primal and Roar Tyranno.

What I want to propose is the XCG (X-Celerator Gear) format where bladers are only allowed to use blades that aren’t currently or were competitively viable on release.

Current banlist would be PhoenixWing, AeroPegasus, WizardRod, Cobalt Dragoon, Cobalt Drake, TyrannoBeat, Roar Tyranno, SilverWolf, Whale Wave, Samurai Saber, KnightMail, and Dran Buster.  The overall purpose of the format is not only to diverge from the current meta of X rn, but also to give the more outclassed/Hasbro releases that aren’t known to be competitively viable a chance to show off.

Current watchlist: Crimson Garuda and Roar Tyranno.

Question: What made you come up with the idea of this format?

I originally came up with this idea of the format being centered around using blades that were 36 grams exactly and below only but some people I have talked to recommended that making a format around weights would have been contentious and annoying to deal with.  I also wanted to give any possible Hasbro releases a possible chance to thrive in a different format for the future.

Question: Why have this format?  Everyone could just play Hasbro only if they wanted variety.

The flaw of Hasbro only is that Hasbro has reached the point where they have recently released versions of top-tier blades such as Dran Buster, Wizard Rod, TyrannoBeat, and PhoenixWing. This would result in a lite version of the current metagame without the other options available with TT to have more ways of dealing with these blades in Hasbro only.

Question: Is it necessary for this format to exist right now?

No, this format doesn’t have to exist currently given that the current meta for X is in a healthy state for the most part.  However, I just wanted to share this idea considering we are getting other X-Over releases and other Hasbro releases that may include something different.  The LIMBO format for Metal Fight also inspired this so I felt like this was an idea worth throwing out and should be referenced in the future while giving another way for us to play X.
