RE: Random Thoughts - mdhvdukshsj - Apr. 29, 2008

okay, moving along from the acrimonious nature of the last few posts, i'd thought i'd share my thoughts on ryan's essay, and how my peers think.

i go to a catholic high school. naturally, the people there are going to be more sightly leaned to the right-view on social and economic issues. these kids don't necessarily choose to be right-orientated, rather, it was how they were raised. i know i was raised very moderately, but i myself lean more to the liberal aspects in terms of government. these kids, however, are apathetic to politics. they're indolence and apathy is partly to blame in the prejudice against homosexuals.

i was talking to a good friend of mine, about politics and the such. homosexuality came up, and he was surprisingly more liberal than most; he supported civil unions, but not marriage. he never gave an exact reason as to why he ultimately just doesn't like homosexuals overall, but I bet its to the point alluded to above.

there is a new poll out over the past few days, that the people ages 18-29 are 51-38 democratic or democratic. while this is good for the democratic elections (but not what this post is about), it also shows the gradual progressiveness of america. america has been very conservative since the Reagan era, and it's looking like that will soon be over. the evangelical christians will no longer have a stranglehold on our government, and such ideas like universal health care and gay marriage can be seriously touched upon.

i guess i'd like to sum up that not all christians are, crazy gay-hating people. the usa is just in a conservative time. it's ironic though that christians and other groups use an insignificant passage from the Gospels ("Man shall not lie with another man"). yet ignore Jesus' main message: "Before you were taught 'love your neighbor, but hate your enemy'. but amen, i say to you, love your neighbor and your enemy. pray for those hateful to you..." (me verbatim...but same idea). hopefully christians that do not already do this can look upon that more meaningful message soon

im christian but im also yay for the gay

Mr. Toto Wrote:im christian but im also yay for the gay

Ditto

Hating people is a sin, as Artie quoted. Christians that hate gays might as well hate everyone else, including themselves, because they do not have any moral superiority whatsoever. It really bugs me when people go off on 'crusades' like this in the name of religion, because this is the exactly what Jesus fought against. Plus they're making the rest of us look bad.

Love the God; hate the fan club.

Ha, same here, I was just saying. It's so crazy what the announcement of Beyblades return has done.

Hopefully they'll start being active sometime soon, or some active ones will join. We're bound to get some active members out of everybody new that joins.
