How do Engine Gears Work? - DragoonGalaxy15 - Mar. 17, 2022

I always wondered how the engine gears of the plastic generation operate

what inside the gears makes them... work?

They're supposed to make the Beyblade's spin at heugh speeds, and change their movement in battle.

I can actually answer this, as I've had to unironically work on fixing my own engine gears back in the day.
Basically, there's a two-fold system. There's the gears themselves, and the metal winding wire (I'm unsure of what the proper term is) in the upper section of the main engine gear housing unit. By rotating the engine gear's tip, you're winding up the metal winding wire in the housing unit, which after the switch at the bottom of the housing is pressed, releases the tension and the engine gear kicks in to give a boost by rapidly rotating the gears that the wire is attached to in the center.

And let me be the first to say that getting that wire properly rewound and back in place is a TOTAL nightmare, following by resealing the housing unit.

Congrats on 100. Also, they aren't too complicated really. It's like... I think 6 parts total within the Engine Gear? It's been like 12 or 13 years since I worked on one though.
