RE: Random Beyblade Anime and Manga Thoughts - Admiral W - Jun. 08, 2021 Ken Midori: Character Arc Breakdown: The Healing Power of Connection. My next character arc breakdown is on our favorite quiet blader, Ken. A major character in season 1, Ken is one of the many characters that season taken on a journey both within and without. ![]() Before meeting Valt and the members of the bey club, Ken had transferred schools a number of times and as a result he never had the opportunity to make friends. Due to this he convinced himself he didn't need any, this led to the shy and isolated personality we see in the beginning of the season. ![]() As the season progressed Ken opened up little by little and eventually became very attached to the team. Valt became his first real friend and in short order he grew close to the entirety of the team. We see how he's opening illustrated nicely in Ken's use of his puppets. Over the course of the season we see him more and more speak without them, revealing that he's gotten more comfortable with the people around him. ![]() ![]() He came to care so much about the members of the Bey Club he was distraught at the thought of having to leave them because his family was moving. Honestly I felt so bad for Ken that he finally was able to form some real relationships with people and now he had to leave. Ken was no longer the island he was in the beginning though. The person who convinced himself he didn't need anybody came to really care about and form genuine connections with people. ![]() It was due to this Ken shed much of the shyness that had dominated his personality. When he returned at the Nationals he had such a newfound confidence about him. He was no longer that shy blader he was in the beginning. ![]() Everything he learned with the Bey Club also helped him to make further relationships when he moved away. ![]() RE: Random Beyblade Anime and Manga Thoughts - Instarez - Jun. 08, 2021 My main problem with Burst is the side characters. I didn't really care for anyone outside of Valt, Shu, Lui, and Xander. There was just a bunch of other people and I couldn't care for them as each had very small roles that didn't do much for the overall story. RE: Random Beyblade Anime and Manga Thoughts - Admiral W - Jun. 08, 2021 It was the exact opposite for me. It was the first time while watching beyblade that I acutally cared about the characters. It was the first time watching beyblade that I felt connected to the characters. I felt connected to Valt, Shu, Xander, Daigo, Rantaro, Lui, Ken among others. That's due to the excellent work they did of really giving a great many of these characters journey's both within and without. Their character arcs were particularly relatable. A great many of the side characters had plenty to do, of course it wasn't as much as the main, which of course it couldn't be, but they contributed to the plot in just the right ways. Burst really took the time to really delve into those characters which made me all the more invested in them and therefore enjoy their journey's all the moreso. I find that hard to believe. Even if they were side characters with no development, Bakuten Shoot Beyblade and Metals Fight Beyblade both have really likeable characters. Plus one of the worst things about Burst for me was all of the characters they introduced around the Nationals that amounted to absolutely nothing. Sora is one of my favorite Beyblade characters of all time and he has 1 episode of development, and 2 episodes total. Not saying that older character's didn't get development, but I just find your statement incredibly bizarre. I haven't watched much OG so I can't speak to it, but I have watched MFB and I didn't really feel connected to those characters. I don't know what you mean about the characters at the Nationals that amounted to nothing there was a group of bladers introduced to participate in the tournament, in fact some of the season's mini arcs with some of those bladers took place during that part of the season. They fulfilled their function for that part of the season. I think what some people have to understand is that different things resonate differently with different people. Sora is a character that I don't feel anything for, he happens to be a character you really enjoy, it simply due to the fact that not everything is going to speak to everyone in the same way or perhaps at all. If something resonated with you, it's not a guarantee it will resonate with someone else. Nothing strange about it. It's just the way art works. Yo, not going to lie, I like Sora way more than Kyoya. Though, some people might say he's "generic" or "Gingka wannabe", he's was a way more likeable character in my opinion. Like Kyoya was cool, but dang he can be such a freaking Kai sometimes. Like bro, loosen up a little bit, being nice doesn't make you weak. And to be honest, I'm into strong nice or hot-headed characters like Gingka, Masamune, and Sora than those serious and "lone-wolf" characters like Ryuga and Kyoya. Sorry if I came across hostile, I've just never seen that opinion presented before. Form what I've personally seen in the community everyone feels attachments to different characters. Like some people are hardcore Ryuga fans while others like Kento. I've just never seen someone who doesn't feel connected o any characters at all. Now that you mention it, it really persists huh. God is sorta ok, lots of characters are under used but they still feel like characters and not plot devices, for the most part. Chouzetsu is REALLY bad in that regard. All of the interesting characters go extremely underused, even Shu and Free feel like minor characters. Leaving only 4 important Bladers, I don't even like 3 of em. GT is kind of ok. GT could've been worse, but they were kind of forced to give random Bladers screen time cause of the smaller cast. Sparking only under uses Aiga and Drum iirc so not that bad. I like some sure, but I never felt connected to any of them in such way that I became a die hard fan. RE: Random Beyblade Anime and Manga Thoughts - Dark red - Jun. 09, 2021 Since this is a thread for random Beyblade anime and manga thoughts, I'm going to say something wild involving the Metal Fight Saga. Zyro, Damian, and Jack are all OP trash F-tier bladers. Like bruh, these clowns got their powers handed to by a sketchy doctor named Dr. Zigg- a -Rat!!!!! And it's not fair since Gingka, Masamune, and the others had to grind to get to where they are today. Speaking of Masamune, I felt so frustrated when this dude lost to Zyro, the clown who used government cheats to win his battles. Man, if Kyoya or Ryuga was battling him, he would've got his bey wrecked, and I put that on Kyoma Village. Like, imagine also winning a game but you get clapped at the end by some dude with government cheats, that got to be annoying. And don't get me started on this Damian clown, dude's literally a Diabolus ex Machina, opening the Gate of Hades out of nowhere. And he clapped Tsubasa and Yu with his government cheese power, destroying their poor beys. I remember Gingka being so mad at the American Team for this action and I don't blame him. I would be triggered if my homies got trashed by some random with government cheats like I BEG YOUR PARDON? This clown also whooped Julius with ease while Gingka was on the struggle against him. Like, THIS SHOULD BE ILLEGAL FOR THIS GARBAGE TO SLIDE!!!!! But, it's fine since Kyoya whooped that demon wannabe. Also, this dude had no deep character just wanted to be a villain who wants to ruin people's lives like bruh IF YOU DON'T GO ON SOMEWHERE!!!!!!!!!!!! Another character Who kind of got shaft would be free they didnt know what to do with him granted he was showcase in early episodes, but was underwhelming during the tag team tournament what destroy him is probaly that one sided revenge he wanted agaisnt lane(Who didnt give a bey about free lol). Easily the most underused character in sparking (IMO). At least characters like Free, Aiga and Sisco had developmental points in sparking, Drum was getting thrown into random episodes in order to make up for his lack of screen time. That might be the best way to fill in missing voids but it is still factually incorrect as per canonical information. Interestingly enough, Mr Morita himself has openly acknowledge the anime and manga as separate (not that we even needed this validation since it is clearly observable) and he isn't quite as involved with the anime as you would believe, he simply provides ideas and the vital info before a team of writers organize it all to fit the appropriate time and media. Whether something does or does not make sense, assumptions will remain assumptions and as I said before, canon is defined as what is stated (or portrayed) to exist rather than what ¨fits¨ or hasn't been disproven. ¨But we should assume most things stay the same¨ This is where you are misunderstanding things, assumptions do not count as factual official information especially when they come from fans like us and seeing as the manga and anime are separate continuities various elements are not automatically applicable between them and are subjected to the rules of canonicity. It is certainly fair for you to have a personal opinion or headcanon but assumed similarities getting passed on as a fact is not quite as valid uk? Morita himself works on the anime and most of the details are the same. The manga only changes the story to fit into 3 volumes but we should assume most things stay the same. It makes zero sense to do the opposite. Especially since the manga never even mentioned when Lane got it. I have to agree with Instarez and Zeutron here. They have valid reasons. It's quite clear that they're side of the debate is more well-formed and has better evidence backing it up. RE: Random Beyblade Anime and Manga Thoughts - Instarez - Jun. 10, 2021 Would you like a MFB style story for Beyblade Gen 4? Why or why not? Depends on what MFB style would mean. If it means an edgier plot with some god of destruction type of stuff and world ending threat then my answer is a hard no. If it is just an increase in supernatural elements and creative storylines, then maybe. The reason why I say ¨maybe¨ is due to the fact that I personally believe increasing powers and supernatural elements will take away from the actual emphasis on characters but that's just my personal opinion. Metal Fight Beyblade: Gingka and Ryuga Metal Fight Beyblade Explosion: Masamune, Zeo, and Toby Metal Fight 4D: All of the Legendary Bladers Even with super natural powers they still didn't draw away any focus from the main cast, in my opinion. I want to see dark stuff like for example, in the manga, Dr. Ziggurat paid Argo to rig his opponent, Gingka Hagan, with a boat with a bomb to ensure his victory. Or Ryuga having a leash on Reji, a detail that made my blood curdled. These types of things give the Beyblade series more feeling and meaning like the show isn't just about spinning tops but much more than that. I also want to see teams cheating in world tournaments and events like Team Garcia or the Russian team, just to make the series a little realistic. That battle was straight fire especially when Damian opened the Gate of Hades in the middle of the city. All the normal spectators were like "WHAT IS THAAAAAAATTTTTTTTT?!??!!??!" and ran off. Like, imagine being an adult going to work and see a bunch of kids battling with spinning tops that can destroy things and opening portals to different dimensions. That would be a crazy yet awesome sight to see.
