nice bey, i'm looking forward to the new tip, it's either going to be really good, or really carp, also i prefer the hybrid system, so this will be better for me

I have never ever mentioned me saying I cannto say it.

Also, Yoku, do realize it had no tests on it, so Death won't be so bad.

I was talking to the other BBS, sorry about the confusion but you share initials.

I highly doubt Hasbro would change "Quetzalcoatl" into something else just because they think it will be hard to pronounce. Taking marketing into consideration, I have a feeling they renamed Basalt Horogium because they didn't think it was cool or attractive enough to grab their younger audience's money. That, or Nelvana changed the name for their own reasons with or without consulting Hasbro since the episode did air long before the Beyblade's release was even announced.

As for what Hasbro will do with the "Death": changing the name of the Metal Wheel does seem rather inevitable. A good number of American parents do get upset over trivial reasons such as toys, games, and shows with even the slightest negative connotations in the hands of their young children. Of course, that didn't stop the mother in front of me in the line at GameStop from purchasing Grand Theft Auto IV for her 8-12 year old son. Tongue_out

And I do suppose this is long overdue, but thanks for the super early information as always, Kai-V.

Sure, 8-12 year olds owning four GTA games is fine but a toy part named "Hell" and you suddenly have claims of satanism on your hands and lawsuits left, right and center. That's just the way society is these days. It's not good but there's nothing we can do about it.

Beyblade is the same age groups wherever so I don't see any reason why Hasbro would have a younger audience that TT.

American culture is extremely different from Japanese culture. Americans strive to squelch out misunderstood cultural references and re-name anything remotely religious in nature when marketing to children, whereas the Japanese don't mind borrowing from absolutely every available source.

Soccer moms are an influencial force trumped only by God, in America.

EDIT: Misunderstood your post, but I'll leave the original thing up there.

Beyblade is for ages 8+ in both the WBBA regions and the WBO. The target audiences are pretty much identical. It's just more about how those respective cultures deal with products aimed at them, like I described above.

RE: BB-119 Death Quetzalcoatl 125RDF - th!nk - Aug. 24, 2011

Surely there is a better place for this discussion (which we have every single time a bey is released with a name of a darker nature), than a thread with no significant news since it's creation over two months ago?

Can we maybe have a separate thread to discuss "hasbro names" or whatever? It clutters up every vaguely related thread for pages, so obviously people have plenty to say.

In the mean time, maybe this should be closed til there's actually something to discuss (other than it's hasbro release a year from now)?

A clearer picture of Death, which is apparently vertically larger than most Wheels.

Titi indeed owns Death Quetzalcoatl.

Wow that looks.... Blunt.

Thank you for the update Kai-V.

Really loving the way Death is looking, based on this - looks like it'll be a really complex wheel, and testing it should be fun! Grin

I like the flow there. Thanks Kai-V

RE: BB-119 Death Quetzalcoatl 125RDF - Kai-V - Sep. 13, 2011

I hope it does not really have such a gap in between the Metal Frame and what is probably the Core.

RE: BB-119 Death Quetzalcoatl 125RDF - BigBangSoda145 - Sep. 13, 2011

It looks like to big bang metal frames stacked on top of eachother...

RE: BB-119 Death Quetzalcoatl 125RDF - Hazel - Sep. 13, 2011

I can't help but think that it having such a tall, dual-layer MW is going to dethrone Basalt as the heaviest bey in the meta... they'd have to be trying pretty hard to make it lightweight.

RE: BB-119 Death Quetzalcoatl 125RDF - th!nk - Sep. 13, 2011

Heaviest maybe, but if it has a gap that large, it'll have terrible recoil.

RE: BB-119 Death Quetzalcoatl 125RDF - Annoying-Fork - Sep. 13, 2011

That picture cannot be good enough to even speculate on its weight.

Come on, we already dealt with the RDF theories.

RE: BB-119 Death Quetzalcoatl 125RDF - pepsikola - Sep. 13, 2011

Hmm, I so Takara Tomy now enjoys making beyblade flapjacks! Excellent, if I do say so myself! Haha anyways nice find Kai-V!

RE: BB-119 Death Quetzalcoatl 125RDF - bumpyfelon - Sep. 14, 2011

I just thought it was comparing Death with Big Bang... I never saw it as dual-layer.

The Metal Wheel on the right is Death.

Interesting.
>dat gap
I'm really looking forward to this. Can't wait to hear information on RDF! Thank you Kai-V!

RE: BB-119 Death Quetzalcoatl 125RDF - Ga' - Sep. 14, 2011

Yeah, I agree. I thought it was the Big core on Death for comparison. Wow, that gap is huge. It's like Jade all over again. :\

Hopefully RDF will be better! If not, I can get it for my 4D collection/Quetz CW. Thanks Kai-V!

RE: BB-119 Death Quetzalcoatl 125RDF - BeybladeStation - Sep. 14, 2011

Hm, it looks so thick!

I cannot wait therefore, I didn't think o it as a double layer as well!

RE: BB-119 Death Quetzalcoatl 125RDF - Kei - Sep. 14, 2011

Perhaps they should rename this Wheel, "Suicide".

At least we can potentially count on some situations wherein another MW gets stuck in the gap for long enough to pull off a trebuchet-esque catch and release maneuver, which could prove amusing.
