RE: Beyblade Burst Zero - Sir Saitama - Sep. 21, 2019
Chapter 24 - Zero Limits! The New Champion!
Last time on Beyblade Burst Zero! Paris accesses his full power and stumbles upon the Wielders of Pegasus, as Daniel demolishes Taiki, thus taking the third spot in the semi-finals!
Toko sat cross-legged on the moist, golden sand at his favourite place - the beach. Seagulls flew overhead as a gentle breeze blew into the early morning sky.
He felt strongest near water, as did Trident. Strength was what he needed most today, against Paris Hagane.
Toko hadn’t paid much attention, but he’d only recently realized the amount of progress Paris made since his battle against Valt a few months ago.
He had a huge impact on not only everyone’s blading careers, but their lives too. And later in the day, Toko would have the opportunity to show just how much progress he made.
Meanwhile, Paris had befriended the Wielders of Pegasus. With the small price of being pestered with questions, they understood why he was gifted with Immortal Pegasus.
Ever since Paris had arrived, everyone had been striving to better themselves.
“You’ve chosen a fine boy, Gingka,” one of the spirits said in approval.
Paris wrapped a white scarf around his neck, and left his apartment. He soon arrived at the WBBA building, where he was greeted by none other than Roan Jamieson.
“Hey Paris!” Roan waved, “I heard you and Toko were competing for the semi-finals.”
Paris took a sudden interest in his shoes.
“Yeah,” he replied.
“Do me a solid and win this one. I’m looking forward to our rematch,” Roan said.
“Me too. I’ll win this battle and defeat you in the finals!” Paris exclaimed challengingly.
Roan suppressed a laugh.
“Alright, take care. I’ll be watching your match,” he added before strolling down the hallways.
Paris nodded and went the other way, into the waiting room.
“Fifteen minutes left until the battle,” he thought to himself.
On the large screen, a video of Valt being challenged for his championship by another blader appeared.
“Enjoy that belt while it lasts, because I’m going to put you back into your place!”
Paris recognized the voice. It was cold and aggressive. A silhouette appeared, with intense violet eyes, and a long feathery boa.
“That means it’s-“
The silhouette disappeared and revealed itself to be,
“Lui Shirosagi.”
Paris had never personally met Lui, however he’d seen his battles. Most of them were in his favor except against Free, Shu and Aiga.
“Meet my new bey, Destructor Longinus,” Lui grinned devilishly.
Fierce arcs of lightning flashed overhead, quickly darkening the sky.
Destructor Longinus had six metal dragon heads - four wrapped around the outer layer, with a pair of gold twin dragon heads in the middle.
The disc, Disaster, featured six protrusions in a pattern, with gold claws and purple rubber patches in between.
The driver was Scream. It retained the original shape of the Destroy driver, but had a jagged ring around it with a mini-engine inside that allowed the bey to slowly release against the stadium, like a wind-up toy.
“And don’t think that the battle is going to end up the same way it did last time - this time, I’ll crush you!” Lui growled.
Valt gulped. Lui was right. The chances of the stadium breaking was astronomically low.
As thousands of eyes pried on his every move, his temptation to retaliate dropped.
“We’ll see then! Don’t hold back!” he shouted with enthusiasm.
Through the screen, Paris could see fear through the false happiness he displayed.
“Alright partner,” Valt closed his eyes. “Let’s do this.”
The referee started, ”Ready, set!”
Lui swirled his hand in the air,
making his way toward his launcher.
“Three!”
“Two!”
“One!”
“Let it rip!”
Lui placed his hand on the launcher, leaping into the air.
Destructor Longinus made its way into the stadium as the two attack types rushed into each other endlessly, exerting years of rivalry.
Cho-Z Valkyrie pulled away, slamming into the wall.
“Go, Valkyrie! Cho-Z Jet Shoot!” Valt exclaimed, as the attack type bey rebounded off the wall, striking Longinus with a heavy blow.
Destructor Longinus hardly seemed damaged. One of Valkyrie’s wings became a glowing beam of light,
“Now’s our chance! Cho-Z Slash!” Valt bellowed.
Upon contact, Longinus instantly flung into the air, bursting a second before touching the ground.
“Two points to Cho-Z Valkyrie for a Burst Finish! The score is now 2-0!”
Paris sighed with relief. Lui was the least shocked. It was as if he expected this to happen.
“You fought with honour, Longinus,” Lui muttered. “Let’s win this.”
Valt had a bad feeling about the next battle. Destructor Longinus’ six heads stared deeply into his soul, where his beyspirit resided.
Paris had a sigh of relief.
“What’s there to be worried about, if Valt won already?” He said it louder than he intended.
“The fact that Lui was testing Valkyrie. By the looks of it, he knows how to defeat Valt now.” A voice at the back responded.
Paris looked puzzled. “So, you’re saying that there’s a way to defeat Valkyrie?”
“Easier said than done. But yes, possible.”
The boy wore glasses with jeans and a black hoodie with a hydra’s face emblazoned onto it.
Paris nodded, satisfied with the answer.
“So, are you in the tournament?”
“No. I’m just watching.”
“Just watching?”
“I’d rather observe than battle. It’s interesting to see how others compete against each other.”
The way he said that was unsettling.
“What’s your name?”
“Hiryu Roku.” His glasses flashed.
Lui glanced down at Destructor Longinus.
“I should’ve accepted this long ago. You’re a worthy opponent, Valt Aoi. And for that same reason, I want to defeat you even more.”
Valt nodded in approval. Those words made him refreshed, as Valkyrie’s avatar appeared behind him.
“Come at me.”
“Second battle!”
“Ready, set!”
“Three!”
“Two!”
“One!”
“Let it rip!”
Longinus and Valkyrie lit up, tearing through the stadium. They narrowly missed each other each time they were close.
“Cho-Z Flash Shoot!”
“Destructive Spiral!”
The attack type beys crashed into each other, relying solely on sheer force.
Longinus was knocked back into the air, drilling into the stadium wall which gave it a boost in speed.
“Tear him apart! Disastrous Scream!”
Destructor Longinus’ avatar appeared, a six-headed armoured ice dragon. It screamed wickedly, distorting the air around it.
The engine on the Scream driver started up, releasing the ice dragon into the middle of the stadium.
“Not today! Cho-Z Slash!” Valt yelled, as Valkyrie’s avatar appeared, ramming into Longinus.
Disastrous Longinus endured the hit, losing a click. But it didn’t stop there - instead, the dragon bey rushed into Valkyrie unpredictably.
“What’s Lui doing? It’s useless with Valkyrie’s burst stoppers,” Paris pointed out.
Valt agreed too, but couldn’t keep up with Longinus’ speed.
“It’s not trying to attack Valkyrie. Instead, it’s using one of the oldest tricks in the book,” Hiryu responded.
The television zoomed into Longinus’ disc, Disaster, which showed the purple rubber patches giving stamina to Valkyrie.
“I don’t get it. Why would Longinus-“
Cho-Z Valkyrie drifted away, speeding across the stadium uncontrollably.
Every so often it’d scrape into the stadium floor. Valkyrie smashed into the wall, losing one of its burst stoppers, leaving it vulnerable to bursting.
Valt flinched, as if he’d taken a hit too. Valkyrie immediately picked itself up from the floor and regained control, rushing down toward Longinus.
“Wow, what a recovery! Cho-Z Valkyrie has taken that hit like it was nothing and is now on its way to victory!” Hanami said.
Paris’ friends - Toko, Charles, Ryota, Taiki, Aiga and Nika all sat on the edge of their seat. Even Hiryu was surprised.
Lui chuckled. “You know the drill, Longinus.”
Cho-Z Valkyrie charged in, as Longinus’ disc came into contact again. This time, instead of becoming unstable, Valkyrie harnessed the stamina and used it to its advantage.
“Go! Cho-Z Rush Shoot!” Valt exclaimed as Valkyrie rushed through Longinus, slicing it rapidly.
Lui growled. “If you think that’s going to work then you’re in for a disappointment! Break free, Longinus!”
The ice dragon broke free from Valkyrie’s grasp, continuing to surge through the stadium.
“Burst him, Destructor Longinus! No mercy!” Lui roared.
The two attack-type beys slammed into each other, piercing into each other’s layers. A beam of light appeared onto Valkyrie’s wing, exploding with energy.
“Valkyrie, I believe in you! We can finish this - together!” Valt shouted, as Cho-Z Valkyrie activated it’s Cho-Z Slash.
Valkyrie’s wing whipped through Longinus, flinging it into the air. Lui’s intense purple eyes widened.
Destructor Longinus flew into the air, right into Lui’s face as the Scream driver twisted, stockpiling power into a single attack.
“Longinus,” Lui muttered. It was as if Valt talking to Valkyrie rubbed off onto him. “Finish him.”
Destructor Longinus descended, almost plummeting onto the stadium floor, before landing perfectly onto Cho-Z Valkyrie.
Sparks flew as wind pushed Valt back. It was suspenseful, for sure. Paris turned toward Hiryu, who had a grim expression on his face.
He made a ‘boom’ gesture with his hands. Suddenly, Cho-Z Valkyrie burst, splitting into three parts. Valt gasped.
The cheering, the excited laughs, the clapping... it all died. The referee pointed to Lui.
“Two points to Destructor Longinus for a Burst Finish. The score is now 2-2.”
Hanami broke the awkward silence following afterward. “Lui Shirasagi earns himself another two points! Could Valt’s championship be at stake here?”
Paris felt his palms getting sweaty. Was this what they meant in his dreams?
Valt collected Valkyrie’s parts and re-assembled the bey together.
“That was awesome! We should battle again sometime after this.”
No response from Lui. He was reflecting on the battle, but it seemed as if he was in his own little world.
The six dragon heads glimmered in the moonlight.
“Longinus. Our bond is unbreakable,” Lui whispered.
Paris shot Hiryu a look. “What’s going to happen next?”
He tightened his hoodie laces. “I don’t know.”
The referee gulped, then lifted his hand off the stadium.
“Third battle!”
“Ready, set!”
“Three!”
“Two!”
“One!”
“Let it rip!”
Destructor Longinus ripped through the stadium, leaving nasty scratches behind. Cho-Z Valkyrie charged in from the other direction, about to collide.
Valt nodded at Valkyrie, as its layer touched the stadium floor. Valkyrie’s wings locked into place, shooting it into the air as Longinus passed through, crashing into the wall.
The dragon bey lost two clicks, bringing it closer to bursting. However, it gained attack power as a result.
Meanwhile, Valkyrie landed into the stadium, activating its second first burst stopper.
“Two more to go,” Valt thought.
The two attack-type beys dashed for the middle, eventually crashing into each other. Longinus pulled back, and struck Valkyrie once with a heavy blow, leaving it too stunned to retaliate.
Destructor Longinus struck again and again, rushing through Valkyrie. With barely any room to move, Valt had little options.
The rubber on the Disaster disc transferred stamina over to Valkyrie, as it looped around the middle of the stadium.
“Valkyrie, use your Cho-Z Flash Shoot!” Valt commanded.
Each time Longinus came around to strike, Valkyrie dodged, buying itself more time.
“Tear him apart Longinus! Destructive Spiral!” Lui called out, his voice filled with frustration.
A vortex coiled around the ice dragon as it headed for Valkyrie.
“Look at these powerhouses go after each other! Attack after attack, this battle is one of a kind!” Hanami grinned excitedly.
Valt froze briefly. He heard a horse galloping, and surely enough, Valkyrie was by his side. It tossed its sword over to Valt, who caught it in his hand.
A blue aura engulfed the boy as veins of electricity sparked through his arm, slicing through the air with his sword.
“Gold Turbo!” He called out instinctively.
Unaware of what it meant, Valkyrie
coated itself in a bright, gold color.
The entire crowd gasped. Lui’s eyes filled with confusion and to a lesser extent, rage.
“Pfft. Whatever. Turn Valkyrie invisible if you want. For all I care, I’ll still end up destroying you!”
Cho-Z Valkyrie aggressively rammed into Longinus, flinging it into the air.
The dragon bey landed on the brim of the stadium wall, reminding Valt of his old friend Cuza.
Valkyrie exited its Gold Turbo state and wobbled with the little stamina it had left. Longinus also seemed to be shaking.
Cho-Z Valkyrie slammed itself into the stadium wall, launching over where Destructor Longinus was.
For the final time, the two attack type beys drove into each other, sending wind and dust out of the stadium.
Nobody could see what was going on, but they heard a few final clinks before the noises disappeared.
The dust cleared up, revealing both Valkyrie and Longinus to be outside the stadium, no longer spinning.
“W-who won?” Valt and Lui both stared anxiously at the referee, as did everyone else.
The referee shrugged. “We’ll have to get a replay on that one.”
The screen zoomed in, showing Longinus and Valkyrie getting swept away by the wind simultaneously.
However, Valkyrie plummeted a second before Longinus, meaning...
“One point to Destructor Longinus for an Over Finish. The score is now 3-2. Lui Shirosagi is the winner!” The referee announced.
Valt stood there, too stunned to speak. His eyes felt heavy, but he suppressed his tears.
“Get it together, Valt,” he pictured Shu reminding him in the past.
Unstrapping his champion’s belt, he handed it over to Lui. He grinned and looked slightly remorseful toward Valt, but left without a word.
The screen showed Valt’s picture fading away as the word ‘champion’ was labelled underneath Lui.
Paris almost felt like crying. If he were Valt, he would’ve been mad. Saving your friend from irreversibly becoming evil, and then barely losing it to some dragon dude.
Hanami rubbed his eyes.
“Wow. I have so many things to say. That was a powerful battle to say the least. But I’ll leave the talking to Valt Aoi.”
The spotlight fixed on him, as the crowd clapped for him one last time.
He glanced sadly at Valkyrie, his brown eyes slowly watering up.
He may have been the World Champion, but in reality he was just a boy. A young boy with dreams, who came from a bakery.
“I just want to say, thanks to all of you who’s been supporting me from the very beginning. Without you, I wouldn’t have made it this far. Don’t see this as an ending - see it as a new chapter in my beyblade career.”
Paris nodded at Hiryu. “Okay, take care dude. It’s my turn now.”
“Good luck Paris. It was nice meeting you,” he replied.
The lights returned to its previous state, as Valt strolled down the hallway. Paris noticed him, and waved.
“Oh, hey Paris! You’re next, aren’t you?” Valt smiled.
“Mhm.” He decided to change the conversation, “So about your battle. Where next?”
Valt hadn’t actually planned this out. He thought for a moment, then smiled.
“Back in my backyard, battling as always.”
“What about your championship?” Paris asked.
“I’m more than just a silly old belt. I’ll be back soon - stronger than before, and I’ll take my championship back,” Valt replied optimistically.
Paris nodded. “In time for me to take it from you.”
“Definitely,” Valt laughed. “We’ll battle again, for sure.”
Hearing his role model say that made Paris extremely happy.
“I think my battle’s about to start. See you later,” Paris said.
Valt nodded, before walking off into the distance. “Oh, by the way.. Thank you.”
Paris was confused for a moment, but he decided now was a good time to head to his battle.
“Good evening bladers! Today’s battle is between to crowd favourites - give it up for Paris Hagane and Toko Aoi!” Hanami introduced the bladers, as they stood on opposite sides of the stadium.
Paris spotted many people watching in the crowd, including Charles whacking Taiki to keep him quiet.
Daniel and Lui stood next to each other, overhead, his hair still thundering.
“Let’s see who makes it into the semi-finals!” Hanami exclaimed.
Meanwhile, a purple mist floated around the dark kingdom Paris saw in his dreams. Five capsules were filled with teenagers slightly older than Paris.
“Rise, my Z5. I, and thousands before me, assure you, that this is the right path.”

Awesome! Gold Turbo was unexpected, but okay. Nice battle with Lui and Valt. Of course, I hope Valt gets his championship back. Also, I recommend that you give Valt a new bey. I loved the plot twist at the end. It seems the Z5 are actually working for the bad guys.

Holy carp! That has got to be your best chapter yet!
@Sir Saitama What if you used this as a Segway into the GT era? Valt could come back with Slash Valkyrie?

Thanks for the review!
I’m taking elements from the GT era such as the system and Gold Turbo, but since this is an AU there probably won’t be any of the GT characters in this story. Valt will come back with a new bey.

Is there a time frame for when he comes back? And I must say, you capture the preexisting characters extremely well, where as some other people just cannot do it as well as you do.

Valt will be back with a new bey in one of the next arcs I have planned out. I don’t want to spoil much but this isn’t the main Z5, but that’s a story for next time! :) As for a time frame, perhaps between Chapters 30-35.

This chapter was mind blowing . The battle between valt and lui was amazing . The best part is you have brought lui back made him stronger and made him defeat valt . The anime writers had nerfed lui , wasted his potential and threw him into irrelevancy . Honestly speaking this is your best episode . I appreciate the way you had described every aspect of the story . I am super excited to know about the members of the Z5 . Your story has so many characters but each character is handeled appropriately . There is still a lot of story left in this series . Keep going friend , make your creation a masterpiece .

Chapter 25 - Cosmic Horse vs King of the Seas! The Semi-Finals Begins!
Last time on Beyblade Burst Zero! Lui Shirosagi returns with Destructor Longinus, and challenges Valt Aoi for his championship! After taking it through sheer force, Paris’ battle is about to begin!
Trident’s avatar, the trident-wielding spearman, stood behind Toko.
“Paris! I can’t let you win! Not today. Flash Trident and I will defeat you,” he shouted ambitiously.
Pegasus swooped in, whinnying in response as Paris radiated a pulsating blue aura.
“Not if we can’t help it.”
The room shook, as if it were suddenly a hundred degrees hotter.
“Gee, it’s getting hot in here! Can I have an aircon? Only kidding, make some noise for these two bladers!” Hanami said encouragingly.
The crowd roared, as the BeyClub shifted their attention back and forth from Toko and Paris, deciding who to go for.
Lui scoffed, “Why’d you bring me here? I don’t have time for an amateur-fest.”
Daniel grinned, “Trust me on this one. You’ll be surprised.”
Toko placed Trident into his launcher nervously. Despite coming off as confident, he didn’t want to lose.
The referee commenced the first battle.
“Ready, set!”
“Three!”
“Two!”
“One!”
“Let it rip!”
Flash Trident claimed the middle of the stadium almost instantly, whilst Immortal Pegasus surged around at great speeds.
“After him, Pegasus! Supernova Shoot!”
The attack-type bey rapidly hit Trident, sending it into the stadium wall.
Flash Trident glimmered under the sunset, its rubber patches absorbing the impact.
“Flash Counter!” The light-blue haired boy bellowed, as Trident zoomed toward Pegasus.
Paris waited for the right moment.
“Now,” he thought.
Immortal Pegasus pulled back, dodging Trident’s imminent attack.
Toko yelled, “Don’t give up Trident. Flash Counter again!”
The stamina type lowered its height, giving it a boost in speed. Flash Trident drifted toward Pegasus, attempting to strike, but it dodged again.
Lui folded his arms.
“This is pathetic. Saddens me to see a shortage of worthy bladers.”
A beam of light spread across Trident’s layer.
“Let’s finish him off! Trident Slash!”
The stamina type rebounded off the wall, heading toward Pegasus.
Paris grinned. “Two can play that game. Immortal Slash!”
The two beys pressed into each other, as wind expelled out of the stadium. Sparks and small lights flickered, as both beys remained intact.
“Go! Finish him!” The bladers exclaimed in unison, as Trident and Pegasus collided into each other. The attack-type bey seemed to be getting the upper hand, pushing the stamina bey into the wall.
Toko shouted, “Trident! Final Flash Sting!”
Flash Trident made a roaring sound, as its driver extended, pushing the bey upward. As a result, Immortal Pegasus flung high into the air, toward the first row on the balcony.
Lui stood up and caught it. He briefly observed it as Paris ran up to collect it.
“You don’t deserve this Cho-Z bey, Paris Hagane.”
He swiftly snatched it back. Paris wanted to say something in retaliation, but he walked away calmly.
His mind was clouded - why does Lui get to decide who’s worthy or not? Paris clenched his fists, inserting Pegasus into his launcher.
Toko smiled joyfully at Trident, "Nice one buddy. Let's win the next one."
“Second battle!”
“Ready, set!” An idea instantly popped into Paris' head - he tilted his launcher upward.
“Three!”
“Two!”
“One!”
Immortal Pegasus ascended into the air at incredible speeds, whilst Flash Trident drove around the outer rim of the stadium.
Hanami leapt out of his seat. "What's he doing? It seems like Immortal Pegasus is heading toward the roof!"
Paris nodded at Pegasus. "It's a risky move. I didn't want to use it, but it looks like I've got no choice."
Two wings sprouted from the attack-type bey, diverting Pegasus' direction and helping it descend.
"That's pretty smart," Ryota hovered over Nika's device, "It looks like Pegasus' wings is helping it land!"
Aiga raised an eyebrow, "So you're telling me Pegasus always had wings? Why didn't Paris use them before?"
Paris took a quick glance at the BeyClub. He didn't like hiding things. He didn't want to either.
Immortal Pegasus rained down at a fast speed.
"Now Pegasus! Immortal Starblast Attack!"
Toko chuckled, "That's a pretty nifty gimmick you got there. But Trident and I can't be fooled that easily."
Flash Trident rolled back, dodging Pegasus' upcoming attack. Before the attack-type could make contact with the stadium's surface, Trident elevated itself, knocking Pegasus into the stadium wall.
Paris shouted, "Hold on Pegasus! Supernova Shoot!"
Pegasus fired off the stadium wall before slamming into Trident, thrashing it rapidly, giving it no room to move.
"Paris! I won't let you defeat us! Trident Slash!" Toko boomed, as a beam of light spread across the stamina type's layer. "End this, now!"
Flash Trident knocked Immortal Pegasus into the stadium wall, leaving a minor dent behind. Trident lit up, projecting a legendary yellow aura. It chased after Pegasus, beating it effortlessly.
Paris' lightning-bolt necklace glowed, flickering like a broken light.
"Pegasus... let's show them what we're made of! Go, Immortal Stormbringer!"
Immortal Pegasus broke free, racing across the stadium with Trident in hot pursuit. Flash Trident shifted over to the middle of the stadium, lowering its height and extending its height over and over.
"You see, Trident and I are flexible as ever! You can't stop us!" Toko thundered.
Pegasus wrapped around the middle of the stadium, forming a vortex in the middle of the stadium. It orbited around Trident, striking it before moving around as it gradually closed the circle.
"Pegasus says otherwise," Paris remarked, "He's all yours! Finish him off!"
The attack-type bey constricted Trident, replicating Hearts' Dead Gravity. Immortal Pegasus uppercutted Flash Trident, flinging it into the air.
Immortal Pegasus spun unstably, as it was low on stamina.
"Looks like it's going to be a close call! Pegasus is almost out, and Trident's heading out of the stadium!" Hanami said.
Suddenly, Trident hit the stadium wall, bursting immediately. Toko gasped in disbelief.
"N-No way."
A second later, Pegasus stopped spinning, completely depleted of stamina. The referee pointed to Paris.
"Two points to Immortal Pegasus for a Burst Finish! The score is now 2-1."
The crowd cheered, as Toko stood there, shocked. He silently collected Trident's parts, before smiling at Paris.
"That was awesome! You're gonna have to show me how to do that!"
Paris blushed, scratching his head modestly. "Uh, sure."
Meanwhile, Lui held Longinus in his hand. He felt a shining, draconic aura rising from it.
"Finally," he jeered, "Took them long enough."
Daniel smiled, "You're impressed?"
Lui pointed to Paris. "Only by him. And impressed is an overstatement. I want to crush him and put him in his place, down at the bottom."
"Third battle!"
"Ready, set!"
"Three!"
"Two!"
"One!"
"Let it rip!"
Both Trident and Pegasus surged through the stadium, heading for the center. The two beys missed the first time, avoiding collision. They charged toward each other, at full speed, as beams of light spread across their layers.
"Immortal Slash!"
"Trident Slash!"
The stadium rumbled, as sparks flew everywhere. A heavy gust of wind swept through the stadium, flinging both beys out at the same time.
"Simultaneous Over Finish! No points," the referee declared. Paris panted heavily, evaluating the battle.
"That was an explosive battle! Let's see if any points can be earned in the next round!" Hanami commented.
Charles gulped. "That was only fifteen seconds."
The large screen overhead replayed the battle, zooming in on Pegasus and Trident clashing.
"A pretty intense fifteen seconds," Taiki added. "This battle's getting me all fired up!"
Roan stood in the corner of the balcony, directly above Paris.
"Come on Paris, I'm counting on you." He peeked at Smash Revenge, "We're counting on you."
Paris turned around, spotting all the excited and cheery faces in the crowd. The camera flashes, the chanting and clapping, this was what Beyblade's about. Toko's light blue hair lit up, as he let off a challenging smirk. Trident's avatar stood by his side, a blinding yellow aura emerging from the pair.
"Pegasus," Paris briefly closed his eyes, resonating with his bey. "Let's show them what we're made of."
"Fourth battle!"
"Ready, set!" Paris stepped back, moving away from the stadium.
"Three!" He sprinted, running up to the arena.
"Two!" The boy focused his energy and strength into his legs, preparing to bound into the air.
"One!" Paris leapt into the air, aiming his launcher down.
"Let it rip!"
Immortal Pegasus crashed down from the air at amazing speeds, the wings on its layer extending.
"Yes!" Paris let out a satisfied smile. "Immortal Starblast Attack!"
Flash Trident took the middle of the stadium, an indestructible wall forming around the bey.
"Stand your ground, Trident!" Toko exclaimed, as Flash Trident lowered its height.
The attack-type bey was three quarters of the way down.
"Paris, I know what you're gonna do next. If you know what's good for you, it's time for a better plan."
"That, I can agree with."
Pegasus' wings allowed the bey to avoid the middle of the stadium, slamming into the wall instead. The impact retracted one of its wings, giving it a drastic increase in speed.
"Break through, Pegasus! Supernova Shoot!" Paris bellowed, as Immortal Pegasus emitted a bright blue aura.
The bey streamed through the stadium, colliding into Trident's barrier.
"As long as Trident and I have a bond, you won't be able to get through," Toko grinned.
Paris gasped, coming to the sudden realisation that Toko was right. No matter how hard Pegasus pushed, Trident refused to let Pegasus through. He turned around, his attention divided from the battle. The boy spotted a familiar face - multiple shadows with multicolored auras.
His heart almost skipped a beat when he saw them.
"The Wielders of Pegasus," Paris laughed in disbelief, "You're here."
"No, Paris, we were always here. We're always by your side. Now win this battle!" They said in unison.
He nodded, as the battle became an empty white landscape. Pegasus' avatar, the winged, cosmic horse, flew overhead. The landscape shattered like broken glass, as veins of electricity flowed through his arm, surrounded in a blue aura. It tossed the boy a sword, as he caught it effortlessly.
"What?" Toko was filled with shock, "What's this?"
"The moment where I win," Paris grinned. "FULL POWER!"
An erupting noise exploded through the building, as Pegasus managed to bypass Trident's barrier.
Toko yelled, "Enough! I said I wasn't going to let you win, and I'm going to keep that promise! Final Flash Sting!"
Flash Trident elevated itself, the driver extending. Immortal Pegasus was knocked back, spinning uncontrollably around the stadium. The attack type regained one of its wings, giving it a massive boost in speed.
Pegasus rushed endlessly through Trident, who wouldn't budge.
"Incredible! Toko is using Trident's height to deflect Pegasus' attacks! I wonder how long Pegasus can keep it up!" Hanami commented.
"Not long," Ryota figured, "It's almost out of stamina."
Immortal Pegasus wobbled, scraping the stadium floor. Flash Trident elevated its height and compressed into its driver multiple times, shifting from its tall and short mode rapidly.
"End this, Trident! Go!" Toko commanded.
Flash Trident charged through Pegasus, who used its wing to launch itself into the air, avoiding the attack.
"I guess Trident's too heavy right now. Lower your height!"
But the stamina type wouldn't compress into its driver. Toko tried over and over, but it wouldn't work.
Aiga was shocked, "Toko overused Trident's gimmick, and now the driver's jammed."
Whilst Toko was taken by surprised, Paris used the situation to his advantage. Immortal Pegasus blasted through Trident, knocking it back.
"Pegasus, let's finish this! To the semi-finals!" Paris boomed, as his voice echoed throughout the whole building. "Immortal Slash!"
The wings served as a beam of light, as Immortal Pegasus pummeled through Flash Trident, bursting it instantly. Toko's eyes widened, as he fell to the floor.
"No.. Trident. I'm sorry. I pushed you too hard," his eyes welled up.
Paris smiled and offered Toko his hand. "Hey, don't be too hard on yourself. You had fun, right? I sure did."
Toko nodded. "Yeah. I did. Win the National Tournament for me."
"I will. You can count on that," Paris promised.
The referee pointed to Paris.
"Two points for a Burst Finish! The score is now 4-2. Paris Hagane is the winner!"
"Listen to that BeyFans," Hanami spoke into the microphone, "We have our fourth blader participating in the semi-finals!"
The screen displayed all four bladers - Daniel, Roan, Paris and Xhan. Spotlights focused on all four bladers, scattered around the crowd.
"Our first battle of the semi-finals will be Roan vs Daniel! Next up is Paris vs Xhan! Luckily for us, the first battle's about to begin!"
Lui chuckled. "So maybe Paris isn't that bad after all. As if I care. Crush Roan and tear him to pieces."
Daniel nodded and left, standing on one end of the stadium.
Roan confronted Lui. "Call it luck if you want, but Paris won fair and square. Don't underestimate him. Who knows, he might end up demolishing you." And then the Z5 member headed toward his battle.
Lui growled, clenching his fists. "Never in a million years will that wannabe blader get close. He doesn't stand a chance."
Hanami announced excitedly, "I don't know about you guys but I'm stoked! We've had two exciting battles today - Valt vs Lui, Paris vs Toko and now another one! I wonder how this one's going to unfold!"
Daniel shot Roan a cold look. "You won because of luck last time. I'm much stronger now, and you're first to get crushed by me."
The Z5 member grinned, "Sorry, but I don't believe in luck. But I believe I'll win this one."
Paris found himself a seat in the crowd, next to his friends.
"Hey dude," Aiga smiled, "So how come you didn't use Pegasus' wings before? I've never seen you use it."
A flashback filled Paris' mind. Not a pleasant one.
"Why won't you use Pegasus' wings?" Gingka asked curiously, his eyes filled with sorrow.
"I told you. I'm my own blader, and I don't need your help at all. I'll defeat them all by myself."
The amount of times Paris refused to use Pegasus' wings was uncountable. The look on Gingka's face whenever he watched Paris battle said it all. He couldn't tell his friends it was to rebel against his father.
"It-it doesn't matter," Paris answered.
"First battle!"
"Ready, set!"
"Three!"
"Two!"
"One!"
"Let it rip!"
Havoc Daemon ripped through the stadium.
"Demolish Break!" Daniel called out, as Daemon pushed into the Demolish driver, similar to Free's Absorb Break.
"Not so fast!" Roan yelled, "Upper Smash Break!"
The two powerhouses drilled into each other, wind and dust pouring out of the stadium.
"Burst finish!" The bladers cried in unison, as Havoc Daemon flung out of the arena, landing at Daniel's feet.
The referee pointed to Roan, awarding the first point.
"One point to Smash Revenge for an Over Finish. The score is now 1-0."
Roan smiled at his bey, "Nice one partner. We've got this in the bag."
Meanwhile, at the dark castle in Paris' dreams, purple thunder roared overhead. A rusty sign labelled 'Dead Gran' was built into the cold, dull stone walls. Inside, a huge cloud of steam rose from one of the capsules, as a tall man with long, white hair stood out. There was something unusual about him however. Four other teenagers remained in the machines.
The cloaked leader sat on the throne and smiled. A sinister looking bey with jagged curves, a bird-like face and a blood-red color scheme lay on a nearby altar. The room had photos of young bladers, some with red crosses on them. Among them were Aiga, Paris, Valt and the Z5. The man from the capsule picked up the bey and chuckled wickedly, his eyes turning black.
"I do hope you like your new bey. After all, aren't you the Lord of Destruction? Or should I say, Phi," the leader said mockingly.
Phi walked over to Aiga's photo, shredding it to pieces with his bare hands. He glanced down at his bey.
"Let's make some destruction, Oblivion Phoenix."

This chapter was fantastic! Paris VS Toko, Roan VS Daniel, and Phi! Amazing! Keep up the great work!
